Chapter 21: The Quest for Power Final Part
"Master Megatron, your signals are fine, you just need an Energon recharge to cleanse your veins of this contamination caused by the mixing of different Energons." Knock Out said, finishing his medical analysis.
Returning to the Decepticon ship with his partner Breakdown, Knock Out was ready to be punished by his master, but fate was kind to him, and he was now making a thorough analysis of his master to see what would be the consequences of a hasty experiment he had performed on himself.
"Master Megatron, I know I have no right to judge your actions, but it was reckless to combine Dark Energon and Singular Energon, both of which are composed of elements we don't know about." Knock Out said, but quickly cringed in fear as he saw Megatron's eyes on him. "Sorry Master, I didn't mean to offend, it's just the opinion of a doctor and scientist."
"Knock Out, what are the main changes in me since I woke up?" Megatron asked, rising from his seat. He was still angry because he felt that the additional power he had gained had been lost.
"The trace of Singular Energon that Soundwave used to reignite his spark has completely disappeared from his system." Knock Out approached a table where his microscope with the black Energon was for analysis, ignoring Starscream who sat in another seat, practically in a coma from the beating he had received. "But... it seems that the combination of two Energons that defy logic has produced an unexpected reaction. This looks like an element outside the periodic table."
Megatron raised an eyebrow in curiosity and moved closer to see what had gone wrong, making the Doctor tense at his approach.
"The elements of Dark Energon are too unstable to be used by an unprepared Cybertronian, unlike Singular Energon, which has a stability and purity that could amplify a Cybertronian's power beyond limits." Knock Out checked his microscope to analyse the sample of the mysterious and intriguing component in his eyes. "The interesting thing about this fragment is that the elements of both poles are constantly colliding and repelling each other, which should lead to self-destruction, but somehow they are almost synchronised because of this black crystallisation, as if you took two minerals of different metal types and combined them in the forge. But still with an even greater risk than Dark Energon, dozens of times more dangerous, by my calculations".
"You said they repel each other and are synchronised at the same time?" Megatron asked, beginning to get an idea of what the true origin of the Energon Singular might be.
"Yes, somehow I think your Spark fused them together like a forge, but this power is so dangerous that it's suicide to use it as fuel without a way to stabilise it." Knock Out said, impressed and confused. "Thank the Allspark that you, the master, managed to get that thing out of your Spark in time."
Megatron pondered for a few minutes, pacing the infirmary and smiling mischievously as he came to an epiphany. "The Dark Energon is Unicron's blood, fossilised over thousands of years, but the Singular Energon reacted aggressively to contact."
"Lord Megatron, I do not understand your reasoning." Knock Out admitted, not wanting to offend his master.
"The Energon Singular is the blood of Primus, Unicron's rival." Megatron said, looking as if he had finally solved a riddle.
"Primus' blood? Here? On this planet?" Knock Out asked in disbelief. "I'm sorry, but I find it hard to believe, even though I already know that Unicron's blood is real."
"The ancient texts say that the battle between Unicron and Primus was fierce, with the balance of power shifting thousands of times. The remnants of the battle, such as the blood of both, fossilized into the Energon we know, meaning that there is a strong possibility that there is a supply of Primus' blood hidden on this planet." Megatron opened his eyes in pure excitement, fantasising about gaining this power.
Knock Out tensed as he felt Megatron's gaze on him, as if he could see into his soul. He took a few steps back and raised both hands in surrender. "Master Megatron, I know I failed to find the human, but don't worry, the Autobots have no idea we're after him. Since this is an unusual situation for the Decepticons, why not call someone who specialises in tracking and investigation?"
Megatron brought his face closer to Knock Out's, causing the doctor's legs to tremble cowardly. "Who would do that?"
"Barricade, my master, he was a police officer on Cybertron, who better than him to look for a human among so many without attracting the attention of the Autobots?" Knock Out suggested, almost sweating his own Energon from his body like a squeezed fruit.
Megatron sighed deeply, using all his strength not to kill the Decepticons' best doctor for his failure. "Knock Out, I charge you with the task of stabilising this combination of Unicron and Primus' blood."
"My Lord, even if I can experiment with the current fragment, the resources for testing will be limited if I do not have samples of each Energon separately to try to find other ways to combine them into one and..."
"Enough! Get to work, I want results on a stable component in the next few months." Megatron ordered, interrupting Knock Out to give his ultimatum.
Megatron left the infirmary, leaving Knock Out traumatised, his life expectancy probably shortened by the near heart attack.
Knock Out sighed heavily, looking at one of his tables where Lux's mobile phone was, hoping that the energy Megatron was looking for was there, even if it was a small and insignificant fragment.
[[Soundwave, contact Barricade, I will need his services here on Earth.]] Megatron communicated as he walked through the Decepticon ship, his thoughts lost in the new possibilities within his reach. "I need more power to gain a significant advantage against Optimus Prime, if I obtain both poles of the balance of good and evil, I will be more powerful than the power of all the original Primes combined."
Megatron stopped suddenly in the middle of the corridor, his eyes narrowing as he saw a person in front of him, a transparent, almost imperceptible image, like a ripple of heat, with the only thing that stood out were the purple eyes staring back at him.
Megatron wasn't sure why this was happening, but he recognised the presence, it was similar to the vision he had when he placed the fragment of Dark Energon in his chest hours ago.
"I recognise this appearance, I saw your image in the dungeons of the Allspark Temple." Megatron said, deciding to continue his walk, ignoring the ghostly haunting or hallucination. "I will not be haunted by a ghost from the past, I outgrew your legend long ago, Megatronus."
