Chapter 13: Chapter 13: The Brotherhood

The sound of clicking filled the air as Optimus Prime's new form took shape. New parts were swiftly assembled and fused onto his body, transforming him from the damaged state he had been in.

Downey had enlisted the help of S.H.I.E.L.D. for basic repairs on Optimus Prime. For reasons unknown, S.H.I.E.L.D. had limited their work to just restoring Prime's basic functions, stopping short of anything more substantial.

Optimus Prime was aware of S.H.I.E.L.D.'s involvement but chose to remain silent, merely observing.

It seemed they either respected Downey enough to avoid meddling further or they had gathered enough valuable intel that tampering further was unnecessary.

Now, Optimus Prime stood renewed, reinforced by motorcycle parts, and ready to face his enemies with a stronger, upgraded form.

Downey was out for blood.

The depths of this universe were too vast, its dangers too great. He didn't have the luxury of engaging in drawn-out battles with every minor group that crossed his path.

It was better to make a bold statement now, to send a clear message to those smaller factions that they should step aside.

Two massive Gatling guns assembled on Optimus Prime's arms, their cold barrels aimed directly at Downey's pursuers.

The chilling sight seemed to embody death itself, a harbinger of doom for all those who stood in their way.

"Kill him now!" someone screamed in panic, raising a gun to fire.

Optimus Prime unleashed the full might of his Gatlings, raining bullets down in a savage onslaught. It was as though death had come to claim its due.

Each bullet painted the alley with blood, turning it into a grisly slaughterhouse. The narrow space became a death trap, leaving the pursuers nowhere to run, no time to react.

Mutants who had joined the chase fell before they could even use their powers. The corpses piled up, mutilated and broken, as the scent of blood hung heavily in the air.

The stench was so strong it nearly drove the vampires lurking in the shadows to madness. They roared with desire, but dared not step into the sunlight, for they would be reduced to ash.

The alley was a Slaughter house, filled with the bodies of those who had underestimated Downey and his relentless drive.

Suddenly, slow, deliberate clapping echoed through the blood-soaked street. A figure emerged, his expression a mix of amusement and approval.

He had seen enough to understand Downey's ruthlessness. This was exactly the kind of person they needed.

"Who are you?" Downey demanded, panting heavily. His body was drained from the battle, and his mind throbbed from overexertion.

"You may call me the Red Devil. I'm here to fetch you, by Magneto's orders," the man said, stepping out of the shadows. His red skin was striking, making him look like a demon straight from the depths of hell.

Downey's brow furrowed, and he commanded Optimus Prime to take a step forward, showing that he didn't trust this newcomer.

"Magneto sent you?" Downey asked, his voice laced with skepticism. "I expected Professor X would be the first to approach me."

"You were always destined to join us," the Red Devil replied with a smirk. "Charles may have been the first to find you, but he's cautious. Too cautious. He's wary of your nature."

Downey took a moment to let that sink in. If Professor X had found him first, why hadn't he made contact? Downey would have thought the Professor would be eager to recruit a mutant like him to the X-Men.

The Red Devil laughed. "Charles discovered your powers when you first awakened. He knew from the start that you were a Level 4 mutant. That fact alone shook him. He's the one who alerted S.H.I.E.L.D. and warned them not to mess with you."

"So, why didn't he come for me?" Downey pressed, curious.

"Politics," the Red Devil said plainly. "You awakened in New York, right in the middle of the government's and military's watchful eyes. If Charles had intercepted you directly, it would've been seen as an act of aggression, a declaration of war.

He didn't want to provoke the government or make them think the X-Men were interfering with state affairs. It was a delicate balance.

Besides, no one wants Professor X to have another Level 4 mutant under his command. That kind of power would be too dangerous."

Downey narrowed his eyes. It was starting to make sense now. Charles Xavier had likely seen him as a potential threat, too dangerous to handle carelessly.

"Magneto, on the other hand, doesn't care what the government thinks, does he?" Downey said bitterly.

"Exactly," the Red Devil replied. "Erik doesn't concern himself with their opinions. He recognizes strength when he sees it, and he's not one to wait for the right political moment."

Downey went silent, contemplating his next move. He knew the full extent of the powers possessed by Professor X and Magneto. Few did. People understood they were strong, but few grasped just how strong.

Professor X wielded psychic powers that bordered on the divine. He could alter memories, bending minds to his will, and if combined with certain technology, he could even wipe out half of humanity in an instant.

Magneto, on the other hand, controlled all magnetic fields. He could manipulate the entire planet's metal, reducing humanity's weapons to mere playthings.

Guns, missiles, even nuclear bombs—all could be rendered useless in Magneto's grasp.

These were the two poles of mutant power—forces so immense they could shift the course of civilization itself.

And now, Downey, with his newfound abilities and the power of the Allspark, found himself caught between them.

"What will it be?" the Red Devil asked, his eyes gleaming with anticipation.

Downey sighed. He couldn't afford to be reckless. "Where is Magneto?" he finally asked.

The Red Devil grinned. "Magneto's keeping Charles busy. Otherwise, the X-Men would be here by now. Lucky for you, you get to decide before they arrive."

Downey nodded slowly, understanding the stakes.

"I'll come with you," Downey said at last. "But I haven't decided to join Magneto's Brotherhood yet. I want to talk to him first."

The Red Devil smiled and placed a hand on Downey's shoulder. With a sharp crack, the two disappeared, teleported into the unknown.
