Chapter 14: Chapter 14
One Saturday afternoon, Alex found himself sitting in a park near his apartment, watching a group of kids play soccer while he sipped on a coffee. His sister, Amilia, had joined him, taking a break from her schoolwork to hang out.
"So, how's the robotics competition going?" Alex asked, leaning back on the bench.
Amilia rolled her eyes. "Don't even ask. The maze program keeps glitching, and I can't figure out why. It's so frustrating."
"Sounds like you've hit a wall."
"Yeah, no kidding. I've been trying different approaches, but nothing seems to work. Sometimes I think about giving up and just starting over."
Alex smiled slightly. "Well, if you need a second pair of eyes, I'm happy to take a look. Maybe I can help."
Amilia raised an eyebrow. "You? Mr. Numbers Guy? You barely know how to turn on a computer."
Alex chuckled. "Hey, I'm not that clueless. Just let me know if you want some help."
Amilia smirked but didn't respond right away. After a moment, she turned to him and asked, "So, what about you? How's your boring job? Still doing the same old thing?"
"Pretty much," Alex replied, keeping his tone light. "Just handling clients, keeping the numbers straight."
"Do you ever think about doing something else? I mean, you've always been smart. You could do something way cooler."
Alex paused for a moment, considering her question. He had thought about it, of course. With his abilities, there was no limit to what he could do. But every time he felt the pull to do more, he reminded himself that slow and steady was the way to go. He didn't need to rush. "Maybe one day," he said, giving her a half-smile. "But for now, I'm good with where I'm at."
Amilia didn't press the issue, but Alex could see the curiosity in her eyes. She always did have a way of knowing when he was holding back, even if she didn't understand what it was.

As the sun began to set, Alex walked back to his apartment, his mind once again drifting to his progress bar. He hadn't overused his abilities recently, but the thought of stretching his limits was tempting. He had been careful so far, but maybe it was time to test the waters a bit more, see just how much further he could push his mental strength.
He paused for a moment, glancing up at the sky as the stars began to appear, twinkling faintly above. There was still so much to learn, so much to explore, but he would take it one step at a time. For now, he would keep his life balanced—between the mundane and the extraordinary, between his friends and family and the quiet power that simmered beneath the surface.
