Chapter 170: Chapter 170 Transactions and Influence

Chapter 170 Transactions and Influence

___

The pieces of flesh quickly reassembled, forming Aoki's body once again. He turned his head to look at Esdeath.

Mahapadma? Freeze time and space?

Wasn't this a technique Esdeath developed after meeting Tatsumi?

He took a moment to reflect.

With his regeneration ability, "Space Travel," and a certain degree of "prophecy," he realized he'd been a bit too reckless recently.

He made a mental note: Be more cautious next time!

Other worlds weren't as safe as the Demon Slayer World. Moreover, relying too much on the information from his memories wasn't always wise.

But despite the turbulent process, the outcome was still in his favor.

Aoki grabbed Honest and tossed him into a different dimension.

"It looks like I win today."

Esdeath stared at him for a few seconds, a blush of excitement creeping across her face.

"You won't die so easily? That's perfect!"

Aoki: "?"

Great. A real pervert, he thought.

From a rational perspective, Honest's death should be a massive loss for Esdeath. But clearly, she wasn't driven by self-interest.

"Come on, let's keep fighting!"

With an exhilarated smile, Esdeath leapt towards Aoki.

Aoki swiftly appeared on the palace roof nearby, contemplating his next move.

"Esdeath, how about we strike a deal?" he called out.

"A deal?"

Esdeath swung her sword, sending icy blades flying toward him.

Aoki cracked his bone whip, shattering the ice.

"Yes. You help me hunt a few super dangerous species, and after that, I'll fight you properly."

Esdeath appeared behind him, sword raised to strike.

"Super dangerous species?"

Aoki didn't even turn around. He blocked her sword with his whip and then teleported a short distance away.

"Yes, four in total."

"Four super dangerous species? Where are they?"

Esdeath's eyes gleamed with interest.

Born into the Partas tribe, whose livelihood depended on hunting dangerous species, she had rarely encountered super dangerous ones in her lifetime.

"Think it over," Aoki said before disappearing from sight.

Esdeath didn't attempt to stop him from leaving. The use of "Mahapadma" drained her considerably, and she could only manage it once a day.

A soldier cautiously approached her.

"General Esdeath, what about the Minister?"

"Dead" Esdeath sheathed her sword and walked away.

The soldiers exchanged uneasy glances.

The minister had been killed! This would undoubtedly send shockwaves throughout the empire. A storm was coming.

---

In a grand palace...

"The Minister, dead?"

The young emperor slumped on his throne, looking dispirited.

Budo frowned.

He despised Honest, but he hadn't wanted him to die like this.

Taking a deep breath, Budo spoke slowly, "I didn't expect that even you couldn't kill the assassin."

Esdeath smiled slyly. "He displayed several new abilities. It was more than I anticipated."

Bud asked, "What do you plan to do now?"

"I will continue to hunt him down!" Esdeath said, glancing at the emperor before turning to leave.

---

Elsewhere, two figures hurried into a small, inconspicuous courtyard. After closing the door, they could no longer suppress the joy bubbling inside them.

"Dead! The Minister was killed!"

"Hahaha! Good riddance! He should've died long ago. He was lucky to have lived this long!"

"Who is this assassin? Breaking into the palace last time was insane, but now he's actually killed the Minister right in front of Esdeath!"

"I'm not sure. We'll figure that out later. We need to get this news back to headquarters. And don't forget about the Night Raid."

The two quickly got to work.

Soon, a pigeon flew out of the yard, cutting through the night sky and heading swiftly beyond the imperial capital.

In a dark, hidden room, a group of people had gathered.

"Honest was killed! And right in front of Esdeath!"

"That crazy woman is so arrogant most of the time, but when it really matters, she's completely useless. What a waste!"

"Honest trusted that madwoman—he deserved to be killed!"

"Honest deserved to die, but now we're in trouble."

"Stop arguing about that. What do we do now?"

"We have no choice but to elect a new minister. Right now, I hold the highest position and have the best chance. For the good of the organization, I hope everyone will support me."

"Oh, come on! Everyone here knows how you got your position. Sure, others might not know, but we do. Based on ability and influence, I'm the one most qualified to become minister!"

"In that case, I—"

The dark room quickly erupted into chaos.

This was just a microcosm of the unrest.

Throughout the imperial capital, turmoil spread, and an atmosphere of unease enveloped the city.

For years, the Minister and Esdeath had formed a powerful alliance, with Budo staying out of politics. No one in the empire could challenge their combined strength.

But now, with the Minister dead, their unshakable alliance was shattered. Suddenly, immense power and wealth were up for grabs, driving everyone into madness.

At the Night Raid base, the night was peaceful as everyone slept.

Moonlight streamed through the windows, casting soft light on the bed where two girls clung to each other.

Suddenly, a shadow appeared in the room, its feet making only the slightest sound as they touched the floor.

Akame's eyes snapped open, and she gripped Murasame tightly, her scarlet eyes sharp and alert.

"Who's there? Huh?"

After seeing the figure more clearly, she paused, her body slowly relaxing.

"Aoki?"

"Sorry for disturbing your rest," Aoki said calmly.

"Aoki, why have you returned so soon?" Akame asked, smoothing her hair. She hadn't been asleep and had sensed Aoki's presence before her sister.

Akame also realized something.

Aoki had left to assassinate the Minister, a mission that was supposed to take two or three days. But now, he had returned unexpectedly. Could it be...

"I came to tell you that Honest is dead," Aoki announced.

"So fast!"

Though she had considered the possibility, Akame was still shocked. Infiltrating the palace and assassinating the Minister alone was something even she didn't have full confidence in.

Kurome was equally stunned.

The Minister was dead.

Though she hadn't killed him herself, a sense of relief washed over her.

"Please inform Najenda," Aoki said with a nod before vanishing again.

"Kurome, you should rest," Akame said as she quickly left the room.

Moments later, the entire Night Raid team had gathered.

"What's going on?" Mine asked, yawning.

She had just fallen asleep when she was summoned.

"Is there an emergency mission?" Tatsumi asked, both excited and anxious. He hadn't participated in any missions since joining Night Raid.

Najenda spoke up. "Aoki came by and told Akame that Minister Honest is dead."

The room fell into stunned silence.

Everyone, even Bulat, snapped to attention, fully awake.

"So soon? Are you sure?" Leone asked.

Najenda nodded, holding up a note. "I've just received confirmation from our intelligence network. Honest was killed in the palace."

"Didn't you say it would take three days? This hasn't even been one night!" Lubbock's jaw dropped.

The Night Raid's ultimate goal had always seemed distant, yet they hadn't expected someone to achieve it within mere hours.

The efficiency was mind-blowing.

Najenda, too, was in awe.

The intelligence confirmed that Aoki had killed the Minister in front of Esdeath herself.

The highest level of difficulty, with terrifying speed.

They had greatly underestimated Aoki's strength.
