The Yu Brothers’ Case Book

S2: Book 1: Chapter 8

“I am convinced that everyone from the Yu family has the same serious personality type.”

It was a bit later by the time Yan Si returned home. The police there had already left. One of the officers he was acquainted with had generously helped replace the lock, with the key left at the guard’s for him to grab.

“What kind of creepy description is a ‘serious personality’?” Yu Yin was carrying dinner as he shot an annoyed glare at the person sitting on the sofa. He had gone to the hospital first to bring back the news that Yang De Cheng was currently alright.

Xiao Yu was sitting on the ground, having come straight over here after being called earlier. He was tidying up the bandages and medicines that the other person had just replaced. The wound was completely black, making it look horrifying.

“I think it’s a pretty fitting description for your family.” Yan Si studied the perfectly bandaged arm, contemplating whether he should try persuading the two adults in the Yu family to have their youngest child test into medical school. It might suit him very well. “My old roommate also has a serious personality, but I think a better way to describe him would be ‘strict as hell’.” But it seems that the strictness is only ever directed towards me. Why in the world would that be?

“…If Li-dàgē heard you say that, he’d probably send you directly to hell instead.” Yu Yin shot a look at the person currently playing around with his own arm. Yu Yin had already reported home that he would spend the night here. He impatiently entered the kitchen to begin setting the table for dinner. Xiao Yu followed behind to help, swiftly preparing everything.

Yan Si watched the two young ones squeeze into the kitchen. He was still feeling a bit dizzy, so he lay down on the sofa. When he turned his head, he was instantly met with the sight of a woman standing on the living room balcony outside the window. Her deep, bloody sockets looked straight at him.

“You seriously refuse to give up.” Yan Si held a glaring contest with the female outside for a few minutes before she finally vanished into the darkness. At almost the same exact time, Yu Yin walked out of the kitchen carrying a bowl and chopsticks.

“Is there something outside?” Yu Yin reflexively turned to check, but he only saw the city nightscape. He furrowed his brows and said, “Yan-dàgē, I still think it’s best if you carry an amulet. I’ve bumped into these types before too. Although they might not be affecting much now, it’ll get more severe later.” He had tried to persuade Yan Si before, but the latter had completely disregarded it. Yu Yin was starting to experience the automatic impulse to throw a punch that Yu Xia and the others usually felt.

“No need.” Yan Si smiled and sat up. “This is better.”

“How is this better?!” Yu Yin seriously wanted to blow up in frustration. However, he noticed Xiao Yu walking out with a pot so he suppressed his anger and lowered his voice to say, “Forget it, just think it over more later. Let’s eat first.”

After the meal, Yan Si played a TV series for them to watch as he retired to his own room.

The dizziness from the afternoon was still faintly there, though he was certain there was nothing wrong [with his health]. It appeared to be a result of exhaustion caused by his irregular working hours before.

As he lay down on his bed with the heavy feeling in his head, he pondered the news Yu Yin had brought back. Yang De Cheng’s condition was not too serious; after receiving treatment, he was no longer in any danger. At the moment, the police were watching over him, so there was no concern over his safety for the time being.

Why did the murderer go after Yang De Cheng?

The scene of the beverage supplier incident had been set up. There had been a gas explosion at Yang De Cheng’s place, and the completely unrelated Yu Yin had mysteriously been ambushed in an alleyway.

Although the marks were still being appraised, Yan Si was almost certain that the attacker was the same person based on the blade used, the locations of the wounds, etc.

“Yan-dàgē.” Yu Yin saw that the bedroom door was open, so he knocked it as he said, “We’re done using the bathroom.”

Yan Si suddenly woke up. He glanced at the time and saw that it was 11:30 PM. Swiftly sitting up, he asked, “Is Xiao Yu asleep?”

“Uh, he’s still watching TV.” Yu Yin looked over towards the living room where the TV was. Xiao Yu had not budged from the TV, completely absorbed in whatever show Yan Si had put on. Yu Yin had helplessly told Xiao Yu just now to go to bed after finishing this episode, even adding a promise to bring him out to the dessert place later in order for Xiao Yu to finally nod in reluctance.

The most frustrating part to Yu Yin was the fact that the American TV show did not have any Chinese subtitles. It seemed that Yan Si had ordered it directly from the US. Yu Yin could not understand it all, and had no idea what the series was about, so the fact that Xiao Yu was so interested in it made him feel annoyed.

“Oh, that show’s pretty long. There’s still a second and third season, and each season is twenty to thirty episodes. If he really isn’t able to finish it, he can just borrow it to watch. I’ve already seen it all anyways.” Yan Si had not expected Xiao Yu to be that fascinated by the show; in the past, Yan Si had just given Xiao Yu movies to watch. “Why don’t you go sleep first? I’ll push him to sleep later.”

“Ah, it’s fine. You should just rest, Yan-dàgē. I’ll do my homework next to him.” Yu Yin narrowed his eyes as he scrutinised the other person’s face, which still seemed extremely pale. “Correct me if I’m mistaken, Yan-dàgē, but could you be intentionally letting that ghost come after you?” Before, Yan Si had insisted that he had a way to resolve this issue, yet there were no signs of him doing so. Rather, the ghost’s attachment was getting stronger, which made Yu Yin feel suspicious.

Normally, Yan Si was the type who, while being haunted, would look forward to enjoying the show of Yu Yin using whatever spiritual skills to communicate with the ghosts. Yet this time, Yan Si refused to let Yu Yin interfere.

Yu Yin knew that there was something wrong.

“You’re overthinking things.” Yan Si jabbed at the university student as he smiled evilly, “Don’t tell me that you’re interested in my junior sister’s ghost, student that was ganged up on? I told you, you could aim for a career as a spiritualist. Why deny it when you clearly have that intention…”

“I do not. Please get some rest.” Yu Yin pushed the other person’s hand away, convinced that he really had been overly concerned.

“You too.”

***

What is the connection between the people that had been attacked?

The beverage supplier had been murdered in their own home. The scene had been set up as a case of homicidal robbery, but the perpetrator had remained at the scene of the crime, seemingly waiting for something specific. Then Yu Yin had been randomly attacked in a dark alley. Following that was Yang De Cheng’s gas explosion.

They did not have any relation to each other.

It can’t be that the attacks are random?

That doesn’t quite seem right…it does not look that way.

There has to be some connection. At the very least, I need to figure out the reasoning behind the last two attacks, or else another one could result in disaster.

“Yan-dàgē!”

After being abruptly shaken awake, it took a moment for Yan Si to come to his senses. All he saw was the white brightness flash before his eyes, so piercing that it hurt.

He instinctively raised his hand to block the light, only truly waking after a moment passed. Then he noticed that the light had been the main light for his room that had been turned on by someone without him knowing…He figured out who about two seconds later.

“Yan-dàgē, are you awake now?” Yu Yin was kneeling on one knee next to his bed with an expression of panic, one hand on Yan Si’s shoulder. Xiao Yu was on the other side [of the bed]. Their hair was an absolute mess; it was clear they had just gotten up.

Yan Si shook his head and sat up. “Why are you guys ambushing me in the middle of the night instead of sleeping….”

“You don’t feel anything?” Yu Yin’s eyes widened. Without letting the house owner continue spouting nonsense, he dragged the person off the bed and pushed him before the closet mirror. “Neck!”

“Neck?” As Yan Si peered into the him inside the mirror, he quickly understood the conversation. After washing at night, he had not tied the bandages back around his neck afterwards since it was too much effort. The marks of strangulation were very obvious at first glance now and had completely changed from their previous purplish-black colour to an abnormal crimson. If it had previously looked like a result of domestic violence, it seemed to be from an extreme case now. It was as if a single touch would cause it to bleed, an extremely horrifying sight.

“For some reason, I suddenly woke up feeling chills in the middle of the night, so I wanted to get up and drink some tea. In the end, I saw a ‘person’ walk into your room.” Yu Yin actually had no idea why he had woken up from the feeling of cold, since he had only turned on a fan. Yet the bizarre chills had aroused him from his sleep, the action waking Xiao Yu sleeping next to him as well. “At first, I wondered if it was the thief from before. But when I opened your bedroom door, I saw a woman strangling you.”

Yu Yin did not know how exactly to describe the scene he had seen. With the intent to drink something, he had turned on the dim night light and pushed open the door to see a woman he had never seen before strongly choking the neck of the house owner. It clearly looked like she harbored a deep resentment. The stranger part was the fact that the victim had not sensed it at all, not even moving, let alone fighting back.

The instant Yu Yin had turned on the light, the woman had vanished. Yu Yin had broken out into a cold sweat, thinking that the forensic investigator might have actually been choked to death like this. Luckily, Xiao Yu had said there was no problem; the person had just been sleeping so deeply that they had decided to first wake Yan Si up.

Yan Si mulled over Yu Yin’s description before asking, “My junior sister again?”

Yu Yin nodded with an extremely anxious look.

Yan Si turned to smile lightly at the concerned faces of the two youths. “No need to be so worried, I probably just have to wear some high-collared shirts for a few days. Dàgēgē has been trained in this; it’s hard to die from being strangled in such a manner.” They didn’t even press any critical parts. Though I can’t say the same if being choked for too long.

“Stop joking around.” This time, even Yu Yin’s expression was stormy. “Yan-dàgē, this is way too extreme. If you don’t want an amulet, why don’t we go ask Xiao Hai for help?” Although only for a short while, there’s no way any malicious ghost would dare to come near here if she came!

“While Xiao Hai-mèimèi is stronger than even the average man, she’s still a proper, pretty young lady. Let me ask you, are you really not afraid of getting strangled by your own classmate?” The thought of asking a girl to come over for help was slightly amusing to Yan Si. He glanced at the clock to see that it was a bit past two at night. He had not actually slept for long. He stretched his sore back and walked out of the room to prepare some hot drinks for everyone to calm the nerves.

“What do you plan on doing then?” Yu Yin considered asking Fang Yi Xun’s group as he dragged the yawning Xiao Yu out of the room as well.

“I’ll resolve it in the next two days. Kids shouldn’t ask too many questions.”

When Yan Si switched on the living room light, he froze.

The front door had at some point been pried open once again. Just as before, it was only open halfway. The black shoeprints had clearly come from the outside. There were much more of them now, trailing through the entire living room and stopping right in front of the bedroom door.

“Holy shit!” Yu Yin was also stunned by the sight of the living room when he came a moment later. He had not sensed anyone or anything pry the door open to enter, let alone leave so many shoeprints all over the floor.

Xiao Yu stood behind him, his violet eyes also wide. He then quickly walked over to look outside the front door, but there was nothing there. There was only the light of the staircase illuminating the space where the stairs twisted and turned, completely empty in the middle of the night.

“Don’t just stick your head out like that in these kinds of situations, you might get your head chopped off.” Yu Yin hurriedly pulled Xiao Yu back in, unsure whether to close the door or not. Just before he re-entered the home, he saw through the corner of his eye a woman standing at the upper staircase gazing in their direction. When he looked more closely, the person had vanished without leaving even a hint of their shadow.

“Just come in first.” Yan Si inspected the lock. While it had been struck, it did not seem completely broken. He reached out to shut the door and noticed that the extra anti-theft chains that the locksmith had kindly installed for him had been cut. It seemed that he would have to change locks again in the morning…I should ask if the locksmith has any buy three get one free deals or special prices to regular customers.

“Yan-dàgē, why don’t you stay over at our place for a bit?” As Yu Yin looked at the disturbing black shoeprints on the ground, an uncomfortable feeling rose inside him. He and Xiao Yu moved the small sofa over to temporarily block the door and prevent anyone else from infiltrating in the middle of the night.

“There’s no need. Worst case, I’ll just sleep over at my old roommate’s.” Yan Si assessed the option. If the opponent truly was targeting him, he might actually have to borrow a bed at Li Zi Hong’s. Otherwise, the situation would be bad if Yu Yin and Xiao Yu got dragged in instead.

“Really?” Yu Yin furrowed his brows in suspicion, then suddenly turned to look at the window nearby. “I think you should hurry up and go stay at Li-dàgē’s for a while then.”

The woman had not left at all. She stood outside the window against the night backdrop, her sinister glare locked onto them inside.

Yan Si followed Yu Yin’s line of sight to see the female following him.

“Yan-dàgē?” Yu Yin immediately grabbed onto Yan Si, seeing that the latter was trying to walk over. Yu Yin was afraid that the other person would end up being pushed off the building by the ghost again. They were not on the second floor this time – falling would definitely mean death.

“I’m just going to say some words to her, don’t worry.” Yan Si patted the boy and opened the window to walk out onto the balcony.

The woman standing there with the night sky behind her turned her face to follow Yan Si’s movements, though her body remained still, resulting in [her head] being at an unnatural angle.

“If you want to continue playing around like this, I won’t help Senior Chang An.” Yan Si leaned against the wall as he pressed his faintly aching wrist. “I’m giving you two options: give up or watch your number one person go straight to hell with the crime of committing murder. It’ll be much more severe than a simple robbery.”

Liao Xue Yi glared at him, her deep, bloody sockets contorting as her mouth opened and closed repeatedly like a fish.

Something like an animal’s roar rang through the air. Yet Yan Si did not express any fear or horror. Rather, he calmly looked on and said, “Number one or number two, choose one. Of course, you’re not allowed to go after anyone else either. If you refuse to agree, just wait and see what penalty Lai Chang An will suffer. He probably won’t be able to last past the prison term anyways; he might end up going over to accompany you very soon.”

Liao Xue Yi made a clattering sound, seemingly contemplating this with all her effort. Finally, she slowly raised her hand to show three fingers raised.

“OK, only three days. If Senior Chang An is released from the suspicion of committing murder after three days, you must never appear before us again.”

The pale face motionlessly stared at him, just as it had back in a certain hallway of the university in the past. The beautiful features were filled with maliciousness and twisted in hatred.

Then, she stepped back and disappeared into the darkness.

After watching her leave, Yan Si finally let out a bated breath before collapsing completely.

“Yan-dàgē!”

Yu Yin and Xiao Yu instantly rushed out of the house, each of them supporting either side of the unconscious person and carrying him back into the living room.

Once they lowered him onto the sofa, Xiao Yu reached a hand out to press against the person’s scalding forehead. “Fever.” He then lifted Yan Si’s hand. The bandages that had just been changed earlier were now completely dyed scarlet. Upon swiftly removing them, they could see that the wound that had already started to fester had completely reopened, gushing out blood.

Yu Yin was completely shocked. This was the first time he had actually seen the injury; he had not imagined that it would be even more serious than he’d thought. He suddenly snapped out of his daze and quickly ran to grab the bag of medicines the doctor had given. After rummaging through the room, he finally managed to find it inside a random drawer. Grabbing a glass of water, he rushed back to the living room, stuffing the medicine into Yan Si’s mouth with Xiao Yu’s help.

After a long while, Yan Si’s temperature finally began to drop.

As Yu Yin surveyed the bloodstained sofa and floor, he felt exhausted.

Xiao Yu grabbed some new bandages and salves, then carefully recleaned the wound, applied the salve, and bandaged it.

“Do you want to consider testing into some kind of medical school?” Yu Yin felt slightly ashamed at the sight of Xiao Yu’s practiced movements. Even though he was the one that clearly needed bandaging more often, his skills were nothing compared to Xiao Yu’s.

Xiao Yu paused as he turned to look at Yu Yin and shake his head.

“Huh? No interest? I thought you looked pretty enthusiastic about it…” Yu Yin scratched his face as he contemplated this. Actually, Xiao Yu was always quite invested in all types of books that Yu Yin could not understand; this wasn’t the only subject. “Then what do you plan on studying? What kind of job will you look for? Don’t tell me you’re thinking of going into the food and beverage business…Ah, but since you love pudding so much anyways, maybe a dessert place would suit you! If you do open one, I can even assist you.”

He was honestly just joking, completely joking.

However, Xiao Yu nodded.

Yu Yin was stunned.

Sometimes, it really wasn’t good to run one’s mouth.

***

After Yan Si woke the next day, Yu Yin made a call to cancel his plans with his classmates and handed Xiao Yu over to Yu Tong, who had dropped by on the way to check in on the situation as Yu Yin continued staying at Yan Si’s.

“I’m really fine now. The fever’s gone, and the wound has started to improve too.” Yan Si was beginning to find it unbearable to be constantly watched by the university student.

“Dad wanted me to make sure you eat all three meals and go to the hospital to get new medicine today. You need to go to the station to record a testimony afterwards, then come straight home and sleep. No running around allowed.” Having taken up this task, Yu Yin was sitting on the opposite side of the dining table, a steadfast stare pressing the other person to take medicine.

“That’s too annoying. I’m protesting! This is an obstruction of freedom!” Yan Si banged the table as he scanned the antibiotics, painkillers, digestive aids, and several other various coloured pills. He really did not want to swallow any of it.

“I’ll just tell Li-dàgē then.” Yu Yin narrowed his eyes as he casually pulled his cellphone out. “And I’ll ask him what to do about the obstruction of freedom while I’m at it.”

“Student that was ganged up on, could I ask where exactly you learned this behaviour from?” Yan Si swiped away the university student’s phone, exiting out of the contacts list before reluctantly stuffing all the medicine into his mouth and swallowing them with a swig of water.

Satisfied, Yu Yin cleaned up the empty plates and cups on the table and carried them into the kitchen. After he finished tidying up, he just happened to catch sight of Yan Si sprawled on the sofa and pressing buttons on his cellphone, texting an unknown person rather than calling.

“I’ll be dropping by the office later,” Yan Si spoke without turning his head, his eyes still on his phone.

“Huh? But Dad said…”

“The family representatives of my ghost junior sister already gave their approval signatures; the dissection started this morning.” He flipped through the photos he had been sent from his junior brother at work, his expression unchanging.

“Oh…”

Yu Yin knew the criticality of this dilemma, so he was in a difficult position.

Before leaving earlier, Yu Tong had carefully warned Yu Yin not to let Yan Si go anywhere aside from the hospital or the police station, that he had to keep Yan Si detained at home to rest no matter what. Yet right after Yu Tong left, Yan Si was now wanting to go out.

“Why don’t I bring you along then?” After all, it wasn’t as if Yan Si could abandon Yu Yin and run off by himself. After careful contemplation, Yu Yin agreed that accompanying Yan Si out would be safer.

Thus, this was the reason they appeared somewhere outside of Yu Tong’s instructions half an hour later.

“Huh? What did you guys come over here for?”

It was afternoon. Jiu Shen hurriedly jumped up from where he was sitting in the hallway getting some air when he saw the arrival of people that should not have appeared here.

“To visit the team.” Yan Si grinned at the investigation officer that should have also been performing the analysis. “The one behind me is the chauffer.”

“Who’s a chauffer?” Yu Yin huffed back in response as he nervously scanned the area. “Jiu Shen-dàgē, my uncle isn’t here, right?” Although the chances were pretty slim, he had no desire to get beaten up in this place filled with corpses and ghosts.

“Boss didn’t come here. Are you looking for him?” Jiu Shen rubbed his nose. Having just been assailed by the rotting stench from the corpse, he was still feeling a bit lightheaded. “That Ms. Liao’s body is really strange. It’s the first time I’ve ever seen anything like it….” He deeply regretted not having swapped out with a coworker. He truly was not good at handling these types. Since he had grown dizzy during his visual inspection, he had finally ended up stepping out temporarily to take a break.

“Haha, I’ve seen the photos already.” Yan Si had also read his junior brother’s analysis. He pressed down on the sanitizing station to clean his hands, then pulled on a pair of gloves. “That’s why I decided to come and visit the team.”

“You’ll get scolded.” Jiu Shen saw that the other person had already put on a facial mask, and he inwardly knew that when this person said, “Visit the team”, it was more referring to visiting the dead bodies as opposed to visiting the living people. “They specifically stated that you were forbidden from handling this case.”

“The purpose of life is striving to challenge various things. You should try it more often, Jiu Shen-xiǎodì.”

After dropping this response, Yan Si strode straight into the examination room.

“As if I want to challenge them.” Jiu Shen covered his face with his hands as he felt the lightheadedness hit him again. He lifted his head when he heard a strange sound and saw that Yu Yin was waving an outstretched hand in the air above him, seemingly chasing something away.

“It’s just a mosquito, don’t pay any mind,” Yu Yin awkwardly chuckled as he attempted to drive away the little girl above them. He had no idea where this drowned, half-rotted little girl had come out from to follow the investigation officer. It did not seem to have any ill intent or desire to redress an injustice, so it had likely followed along out of curiosity.

“…This mosquito doesn’t happen to be the size of a human, does it?” Jiu Shen was frozen.

“No, no, it’s a very small mosquito.”

When Yu Yin saw the other person let out a sigh of relief, he furtively brandished his fist at the little girl again. She seemed to finally understand his intention and turned around to vanish out of sight.

When he happened to glance over, he suddenly spotted the girl from before standing at the end of the hallway, pointing towards another direction.

“Jiu Shen-gē, just stay here and rest,” Yu Yin said, then quickly began to walk towards that direction, ignoring the other person’s shouts. He then turned to enter the mortuary.

Perhaps because the manager had seen how close he was with Yan Si and the others, they also treated him as a related staff, not paying any mind to his actions as they continued with their own work.

The large room was completely silent, the temperature so cold that he could feel the chills seep through his bones.

A faint noise suddenly came from one of the ice cabinets. Then, the grid was slowly pushed open, revealing a body bag lying in the cold air.

The girl standing in the corner [of the room] quietly stared at the pushed open cabinet.

“Sigh…I’m not an expert in this kind of thing…” Asking him to personally inspect a corpse was something he was honestly hesitant to do. However, the ghost did not give him any time to think it over. The body bag made an odd sound and suddenly opened by itself to reveal the white face of a male.

Yu Yin was stunned for three seconds when he saw the man, having expected it to be the girl’s body.

Then another ice cabinet was pushed open. This time, it was a somewhat aged, old man. Before he could even react, a third ice cabinet was pushed open.

However, contrary to his expectations, all that was in this one was a small bag rather than a body.

Yu Yin was a bit baffled. When he walked over to get a closer look, the bag suddenly opened automatically to reveal the object inside. When he clearly saw what it was, he instantly backpedaled several steps and whipped his head around. The girl had already disappeared.

“That was sent over here a few months ago.”

Yu Yin did not know how long he stood there for before a voice cut through the air. He spun around to spot Jiu Shen walking in. “Ah Yin, what are you randomly opening these for? I can tell you now that you’ll definitely get yelled at like this.” He frowned at the opened ice cabinets and began to push them closed one after another.

“You said this was from a few months ago…”

Yu Yin subconsciously kept his gaze locked onto the investigation officer stowing away the bag as he asked, “These fingers are…?”

He had seen multiple fingers – a girl’s fingers. They were long and slim, with neatly groomed nails. However, the fingers had all been cut off, the wounds extremely smooth and beautiful like a work of art. The fingers themselves did not have any bruises. All ten fingers from the thumb to the pinky had all been there, the exact sum from a person’s hands.

Jiu Shen sighed as he shut the ice cabinet. “A few months ago, someone reported the case. They said that someone had left these in their handicraft shop, giving them a huge scare. Back then, Ah Si told us after his examination that the fingers had been removed after the victim had died…The owner of these fingers was already dead, or at the very least, had gotten their hands cut off. However, we couldn’t find any other parts of the body, nor could we find the victim’s identity. So these have been stored here this whole time.”

Yu Yin thought back to the girl, but he had no way of knowing for certain if these fingers belonged to her. Even if that were the case, why would she not tell him where her body was, and constantly lead him to all these strange places instead?

“What about the other two?” There had been three ice cabinets opened in total. If the fingers belonged to the girl, then why had she shown him the other two?

“Huh? You didn’t notice when you opened them? The male is the deceased beverage supplier.” Jiu Shen was slightly astonished. Since the reporters had posted photos of the deceased when he was alive all over the newspapers and TV broadcasts, he had thought that Yu Yin knew.

“Yeah, I didn’t look closely.” Actually, he had only noticed that the person was male. Though now that it was mentioned, Yu Yin instantly realised the similarity in appearance to the person on TV. Since the adults at home had been busy over this incident recently, he had watched the broadcast several times. Yet when the person had actually appeared before him, he had not made the connection.

“The other one was from half a year ago. I heard that nobody has claimed the body yet. They were also murdered, but someone else is in charge of that case, not Boss.” Jiu Shen tilted his head as he recalled the case that had been handed to his coworkers. “I remember that they had also died in an odd manner. Apparently, they had found the body in a freezer…Wait! Ah Yin, why are you suddenly asking these questions? There’s something in here isn’t there!”

Yu Yin looked at the person that had fled and hid outside the door before he could even respond. Yu Yin had no idea if he should say the truth or not. “Just pretend I was asking out of pure curiosity, it’s better for your mental health.”

“…As if! Hurry up and get out here!” Jiu Shen’s scalp began to tingle as he peered inside the empty room. When the thought of it being occupied flashed through his mind, he instantly felt dizzy again.

Yu Yin shrugged. Since he could not sense anything else, and the girl had at some point vanished already, he was naturally willing to comply. As he walked out, he said, “Oh, right, have you guys recently picked up a drowned body? Make sure you ask her family members to take her back soon, or else she’ll keep looking around for fun.”

“…Don’t say anything more.”
