Chapter 420: Chapter 420: An Ugly Daughter-in-law Has to Meet the Mother-in-law Eventually

(Chapter Fifteen)

While Luo Ziling was on the phone, Yang Qingyin was all ears, eavesdropping.

When she heard Ling Ruonan mention her, her heart couldn’t help but speed up.

Seeing Luo Ziling hesitate, she grabbed the phone from him and spoke to Ling Ruonan herself.

“Mrs. Ling, hello, this is Qingyin.” After struggling to take the phone, she spoke meekly to Ling Ruonan, “Ziling and I are playing at the Summer Palace.”

“Come and have dinner with us, I’ll have Wuyue come pick you up. Just wait for you at the Summer Palace gate,” Ling Ruonan said to Yang Qingyin with a smile: “I also wanted to talk to you about something. You’ve never visited me before, so take this chance to familiarize yourself with the way!”

“Okay,” Yang Qingyin agreed without any hesitation, “Mrs. Ling, we’ll see you in a bit.”

After Ling Ruonan hung up the phone, Yang Qingyin then returned the phone to Luo Ziling.

“Are you really going?” Luo Ziling was still somewhat incredulous, asking Yang Qingyin with doubt.

“Why wouldn’t I go?” Yang Qingyin looked at Luo Ziling with a puzzled expression, “Your mom invited me over for dinner. I don’t want to refuse. I’m curious to taste the food she cooks. What, are you not welcoming me? If you’re not, just say it directly!”

Seeing Yang Qingyin’s mischievous look, Luo Ziling pinched her nose and hummed discontentedly, “Isn’t it because I was worried it would be awkward for you?”

“Why would I feel awkward?” Yang Qingyin rolled her eyes, “Mrs. Ling won’t hit me or scold me, and it’s not our first meeting. Unless you hit me or scold me, I won’t feel awkward.”

“Why would I hit or scold you?” Luo Ziling placed his arm around Yang Qingyin’s shoulder, “Just because you are a girl, I won’t hit or scold you. Such a beautiful girl, I can’t bear to hit or scold.”

“What about other beautiful girls? You wouldn’t hit or scold them either, right?” Yang Qingyin asked with a suggestive look as she spoke.

When Luo Ziling thought about the times he had lost his temper at Lin Lan, Ouyang Huihui, and Ouyang Feifei, he couldn’t help but grin, “Men, for the most part, must maintain a gentlemanly demeanor, but when necessary, they still need to show some temper, otherwise, they’d be too bland.”

“Personality, eh? Who knows what you’re really thinking,” Yang Qingyin let Luo Ziling wrap his arm around her as they slowly walked forward.

“Hehe, I don’t have any hidden thoughts,” Luo Ziling said, caressing Yang Qingyin’s smooth hair with a look of adoration, “I would never lose my temper at you anyway.”

“I’ll remember what you’ve said. Next time you lose your temper at me, I’ll remind you,” Yang Qingyin stated, biting her lip cutely with a triumphant expression.

“Alright, you remember that,” Luo Ziling laughed, checking the time before suggesting, “Shall we head out then? Wuyue shouldn’t take long to get here.”

“I don’t want to walk anymore, I have no strength. You carry me,” Yang Qingyin said with a sly face, “I’ve walked so much, my legs are sore.”

“Okay, I’ll carry you. Later, I’ll find a place to massage your legs, I guarantee you’ll feel comfortable,” Luo Ziling responded, and with a princess hug, he lifted her into his arms and walked briskly forward.

As they circled Kunming Lake and headed in a different direction, there were significantly fewer tourists, yet they still encountered some along the way.

Those tourists, seeing Luo Ziling carrying Yang Qingyin, all looked at them with curiosity.

After seeing how attractive they both were, many couldn’t help but take a few more glances, which made Yang Qingyin blush and she ultimately struggled to get down.

But she had indeed walked a lot today and was genuinely tired from it.

Luo Ziling found a spot, massaged her sore, swollen calves for a while, and then carried her on his back toward the exit.

“Going out and having a free porter really is a comfortable thing,” Yang Qingyin said proudly, lazily draped over Luo Ziling’s shoulder and occasionally playfully blowing on his neck: “Next time we climb Mount Huang or Mount Tai, it seems I’m up for it.”

“What about Tianshan?” Yang Qingyin’s mischievous actions made Luo Ziling feel comfortable. Hearing her say this, he couldn’t help but turn around and ask, “Do you want to go to Tianshan? Climb up the snowy peaks?”

“I dare not,” Yang Qingyin shook her head, “I know my own constitution; I’d definitely collapse midway up the mountain. Then you’ll have to carry my cold, lifeless body back down, how tragic…”

Before she could finish, Luo Ziling smacked her on the buttocks, “Don’t talk nonsense.”

“Ouch,” Yang Qingyin’s sensitive spot was stealthily attacked by Luo Ziling, causing her face to turn red. She bit him in protest, then said huffily, “Hit me again, and I’ll bite you.”

“Alright, I won’t hit anymore,” Luo Ziling obediently withdrew his hand, “But I still want to take you to see Tianshan.”

“You’ve already promised me; you can’t go back on your word.”

Yang Qingyin leaned close to Luo Ziling’s ear, her warm breath on his neck and ear as she spoke, tickling him. A soft fondness rose in his heart, and he turned his head to reply, “As long as you want to go, I’ll accompany you anywhere.”

“Got it,” Yang Qingyin pecked Luo Ziling on the lips, “Then accompany me today to meet your mom’s ‘feast at Hongmen’ first!”

“This…” Luo Ziling looked back at Yang Qingyin oddly, “Didn’t you volunteer to go just now? How did it turn into attending a ‘feast at Hongmen’?”

“I like to put it that way, what’s it to you?” Yang Qingyin said, playfully pouting her lips.

The result was that her pouted lips were ambushed by Luo Ziling, who bit her hard, and she pouted in protest.

The pair bickered and flirted their way along, utterly lost in their affection for each other, and soon they had covered the several kilometers.

When they reached the crowded areas, Yang Qingyin still struggled to come down and mildly fixed herself up, but she continued hand in hand with Luo Ziling.

Luo Ziling noticed that during their excursion, Ye Xiaoli had appeared but then disappeared without a trace, and knowing it was at Yang Qingyin’s behest, he didn’t mind.

By the time the two exited the east gate of the Summer Palace, Wuyue’s car was already waiting there.

After getting into the car, Yang Qingyin also politely greeted Wuyue, but Wuyue merely responded faintly without saying much. This puzzled Luo Ziling.

Usually, Wuyue was quite enthusiastic every time he came to pick him up, initiating conversation, but today Wuyue’s face didn’t look very warm, which made him a bit gloomy. But thinking that it might be because of Yang Qingyin’s presence, Wuyue had reverted to his usual demeanor, and he didn’t dwell on it too much.

Yang Qingyin, who was quite savvy about worldly manners, asked to stop the car on the way, wanting to buy some gifts for Ling Ruonan.

Luo Ziling was unable to dissuade her, so he went along with it.

Together, they bought some fruits and female nourishing products before returning to the car.

As they were approaching Ling Ruonan’s villa, Yang Qingyin took the initiative to grab Luo Ziling’s hand and softly said, “I’m getting a bit nervous, what should I do?”

Luo Ziling replied with a joke, “An ugly wife must meet her in-laws sometime, don’t be nervous.”

As a result, that remark earned him a fierce pinch from Yang Qingyin!
