Chapter 35: The Missing Illusionist’s Bracers
Upon hearing this, the petite Amazon woman's expression became slightly displeased: "Are you doubting me? I personally put what you wanted in there!"
The cyclops quickly reassured her: “It’s not that. It’s just that without seeing it for myself, I can’t feel at peace.”
“Darling, you wouldn’t want me on edge the whole way, would you?”
The Amazon woman pouted, still somewhat upset: "Then go ahead and check, just don't complain about the smell."
The cyclops then commanded, “Check!”
Pausing, he added, “You’ve all worked hard. Once we’re back, I’ll treat everyone to some fun in the Muses District with the prettiest ladies!”
The Muses District is a hub of city entertainment. In its early days, it featured grand theaters and concert halls, catering to refined artistic tastes. However, with various international corporations moving in, it had since become filled with casinos, brothels, and the like.
The Amazon woman pinched the cyclops’s waist, to which he merely chuckled without resistance. Several thugs’ eyes lit up at the promise and proceeded to pull out the top few fish from the box.
Immediately, a strong stench of decay wafted out, nearly causing them to faint.
Cyclops merely frowned and urged, “Keep going!”
With no choice, they continued to sort through the putrid fish, but even after reaching the bottom, leaving several thugs nauseated, they found nothing.
In an instant, the Amazon woman's face changed: "Impossible! I put it in myself; it must be in this box!"
“Unless...”
Upon possibility, her face turned pale.
The only person who could have bypassed her authority and adjusted the cargo box without her knowledge was her superior, the captain of the ship!
The cyclops's expression also changed, his eyes scanning the entire port with a fierce glare, his mind racing!
Sure enough, something had gone wrong, and the item had been stolen while still on the ship!
"Anna, in the past few days, has anyone left on a lifeboat?" he quickly asked, feeling the sweat on his palms. The Amazon woman shook her head repeatedly, saying, "I can definitely assure you, no one has!"
In that case, good!
The thief couldn’t have stolen the item and escaped by sea, so the goods couldn't be far!
It must have been relocated, still somewhere in the port, inside another box!
"Notify the commander!" he suddenly shouted. "We’re sealing off the port; no one leaves!"
However, just as he finished speaking, a female voice abruptly sounded from behind: "The Dark Intelligence Network is quite bold now, daring to detain Amazon ships?"
The cyclops's face changed dramatically as he turned to see a tall woman clad in a simple leather chestplate and shorts, with a small round shield strapped to her left arm and a short spear in her right hand, striding towards them, leading a group of equally armed Amazonian female warriors.
Judging by the insignia on her chestplate, he quickly realized that the woman was indeed a high-ranking manager within the Amazon Fisheries Company!
The newcomer was none other than the Amazon Fisheries Company's female executive, Gael Portel.
After completing her transaction with the Zhentarim Guild, she used a communication stone to immediately alert the captain of this ship.
Collecting her thoughts, Gael narrowed her eyes at the group and announced loudly, “Take them all into custody. Not a single person from the Dark Intelligence Network is to be allowed to escape!”
Behind her, over a hundred fully armed Amazonian female warriors surged forward, surrounding the cyclops and his subordinates, their fierce eyes wide and fixated on them, preventing any movement.
The cyclops cursed internally, certain that this was a well-laid trap. How else could an executive just happen to appear at the port with so many prepared warriors?
However, he had no means to resist. The Amazons trained their offspring with extreme cruelty, resulting in high mortality rates, but those who survived to adulthood possessed at least a first-level Warrior occupation rating!
For ordinary people, the combat power of an occupation-holder is overwhelmingly superior. Among all the cyclops's underlings, only six had reached first-level Warrior status!
Moreover, this towering woman opposing him, as an executive, likely possessed unfathomable strength!
Can't fight back head-on, I'll have to wait for Commander Kentez to come and rescue us!
He anxiously prayed, while on the other side, Gael loudly urged, “Get our laborers moving quickly to transport the cargo to our cold storage!”
“Understood!”
An Amazonian female warrior responded, then began urging the male laborers on the ship to unload. These laborers, technically slaves, were Outsider men captured by the Amazons to do such heavy labor. However, since Liberl Port doesn't recognize slavery, the Amazons simply referred to them by a different name.
Box after box of fish was removed, and the cyclops was sweating with anxiety. Luckily, the next moment, a loud voice came from afar, sounding heavenly to his ears: “Why are you holding our people, Amazons?!”
They're here!
The Amazonian female executive turned her head to see her sworn lifelong enemy, Kentez, leading a throng of over a hundred men wielding steel swords and crossbows, marching in unison towards them!
He looked the same as ever, tall and burly, with pale skin and a thick, bushy beard. Just one glance at him filled Gael with a murderous intent, longing to rush over and stab him through the chest!
“Your people dare to detain our ship, truly disregarding the Amazon women?” she sneered, “Sisters, ignore them, keep moving, get everything into the cold storage!”
Kentez's eyes flickered, unaware that he had a vendetta with this woman, as the Amazon female warrior he had once raped and murdered was her mother.
He was still pondering his negotiation tactics, when suddenly, one of his men shouted: "That person is trying to escape!"
Everyone turned simultaneously to see a heavily clad dockworker, looking quite bulky, suspiciously attempting to slip away.
Seeing their attention, he immediately turned to flee toward the slums!
It wasn't just him; in several other directions, a few port clerks, security guards, and laborers from the Amazonian ship—four or five people in total—also grabbed their belongings and ran off!
Instantly, Commander Kentez was in a panic: "Split into two squads and give chase!"
Ahead, the Amazonian female executive raised an eyebrow: "Trying to leave? Not a chance!"
"Kentez, leave your life here for me!"
