Chapter 28
‘They came out!’
Sylonne, who had been dozing off while sitting, stood up, brushed off her buttocks, and led the way by pushing through the bushes. Karena followed behind, and Gebino was behind her.
Due to the deliberate lack of maintenance, the bushes had grown quite high.
‘Uh!’
Karena, who was walking hesitantly and holding her skirt tightly in a dazed posture, suddenly fell backward.
‘Oops, I’ll have to clean it properly later.’
The moment he was lost in thought of how to take care of it. He saw Karena’s smiling face.
Luckily, it seemed that there were no injuries. Instead, little pieces of grass were stuck to Karena’s hair here and there, making her look disheveled.
Even though a child with bits of grass stuck to her would normally look dirty and not cute, Karena, who was neither a child nor an adult, seemed inexplicably cute.
Lucian’s entire body turned bright red again.
“Oh, damn it.”
Turning red in the face when feeling emotions towards someone of the opposite sex was a characteristic of the Felosite family’s men that had been passed down from his grandfather’s time.
‘If only this wasn’t the case…’
At that time, Gebino smiled and approached Karena and brushed her hair.
Seeing the two friendly people, Lucian’s annoyance welled up.
‘Why that brat! How dare he!’
Lucian clenched his fist as hard as he could.
The moment he inadvertently thought that he should call and punish him, Karena’s expression, which hadn’t been clearly visible from a distance, came into Lucian’s view.
She was smiling brightly towards Gebino. A relaxed expression that she had never shown to him, full of kindness.
* * *
– Nextra Linesento.
“Aaaah!”
Screaming, Gebino woke up, his body drenched in sweat.
Seeing the dark room, it seemed like it was still midnight.
It was a terrifying nightmare, or rather, the pain felt too real to be a nightmare.
Another prophecy, perhaps.
Gebino never told the Archduke or the princess, but he often dreamt of the contents of the prophecy. Things that had already happened and things that were yet to come.
The timing and content varied in his dreams, but from the moment he accepted the sacred power, it had been a living hell.
However, today was the first time he had felt such pain throughout his entire body.
The black smoke that surged after Colin’s chilling incantation touched the man’s body, dividing into hundreds of small snakes. The snakes rapidly crawled over his skin, covering his entire body and gradually darkening his vision.
‘It was a labyrinth.’
The cave had a winding, maze-like shape, a feature that was rare even in the entire Empire, so it must have been recorded.
Gebino quickly got up, lit a fire, and pulled out a map.
It was a place he vaguely remembered visiting. He had marked all the caves he had explored near Felosite on the map. Out of the six caves marked with magic stones on the map, only two were maze-like caves.
It was clear that Colin Piahet was in one of them.
‘I need to go there right away.’
Colin Piagetze has created human-form demons with such strong magical power, and not just one, but two.
Gebino hurried his steps. If he delayed even a bit, he might miss it.
‘Wait.’
Gebino paused for a moment, then returned to the desk and took out a bundle of parchments from the drawer.
It’s information that may help Princess Karena. Please make sure she receives it.
After quickly scribbling a short note on the back of the parchments, Gebino rushed out of the room.
6. Avoiding the Destruction
“Gebi… no, Conrad isn’t in Felosite right now, Your Highness.”
I had intended to meet Gebino Augusto to ask him in detail about the contents of the prophetic book before it was changed, but for some reason, he hadn’t been seen all day.
And now he wasn’t in Felosite at all? He had asked me to come if I had any questions, but…
“My brother suddenly received some secret orders and left in a hurry last night. Oh, and this.”
Sylonne handed me a bundle of parchments.
“He said you would definitely need it, sister.”
Upon unfolding the sheets of parchment, I found that they contained all the information about the changes in the prophecy that I had been curious about.
I folded the parchment again and discreetly whispered to Sylonne:
“Could you arrange for me to visit that tower again, like last time?”
“Of course!”
For some reason, Sylonne seemed thrilled to hear my request. She led me to the entrance of the forest where the tower was located.
“But Sylonne, doesn’t something seem different here?”
“Ah, you’re right!”
Although the area around the tower was still overgrown with bushes, unlike yesterday, it was beautifully landscaped like a greenhouse with colorful spring flowers and a smooth stone path.
It was hard to believe that all this had been created in just one day.
“Wow, my brother is really something.”
Sylonne chuckled with an amused expression.
“Why do you say that, Sylonne?”
“Ah, it’s nothing, sister! I’ll wait for you here.”
“It’s okay, Sylonne! I can go alone, so don’t mind too much.”
After the last meeting with Gebino, the Archduke had hidden the tower from view at all with protective magic, and changed it so that only one person using a specific spell or an enchanted object could enter.
‘And that one person is me.’
The object given to me was the key to the tower.
After a while of struggling with Sylonne saying I’d go up to the top of the tower alone, I was able to enter the tower.
The prophecy book shone as it descended in the middle of the room, emanating an aura of nobility.
“So, I’ve become the protagonist of this sad ending novel.”
I carefully took out the prophecy book and placed it on the desk next to Gebino’s note.
“Then why don’t we change the main character again?”
With renewed determination, I rolled up my sleeves, sat down, and began to analyze the contents of the prophecy, starting with the prophecies that matched the original story.
(Original Story Contents)
Time of Appearance – 3 years ago, when the prophetic book first appeared
Weight – 80% Empire, 20% Felosite
Point of View – Empire’s perspective
Protagonists – Beatrice, Gabriel
Antagonist – Felosite’s Archduke
Ending – Sad Ending, destruction of the Leblanc imperial family due to the Archduke’s invasion
Special note – All nobles from the imperial family die
While the records immediately following this also had some slight changes, they were too minor to make a significant difference from the original.
So, let’s skip all that and find out where the major events began…
(Prophecy Version 1)
Time of Appearance – When Karena was imprisoned
Weight – 80% Empire, 20% Felosite
Point of View – Empire’s perspective
Protagonists – Beatrice, Gabriel
Antagonist – Great Demon Beast
Ending – Sad Ending, Empire’s destruction due to a demon invasion
Archduke Felosite victorious in war against demons
Only Felosite survives
Special note – Gabriel dies at the wedding
– The Emperor executes Karena prematurely
– Liam becomes the Emperor after the Emperor’s death
The first significant change here was that the royals didn’t get murdered by the Archduke but died at the hands of demons. In this version, I have the Emperor execute Karena.
But the Archduke saved me and brought me to Felosite.
What is noticeably different from the original is Gebino’s divine power and the presence of the Great Demon.
On one side of the parchment, I wrote down the main keywords for this version: ‘divine power’ and ‘demon water’.
(Prophecy Version 2)
Time of Appearance – When Karena entered Felosite
Weight – 90% Empire, 10% Felosite
Point of View – Empire’s perspective
Protagonists – Karena
Antagonists – Great Demon Beast, Beatrice
Ending – Sad Ending, Karena dies in a battle with the Great Demon
Special note – The Empress clears Karena’s name
– The Emperor dies during a battle with the Great Demon
– Karena, who became the Crown Princess, died during the battle.
After Gabriel’s death at the wedding, I became the protagonist. Beatrice, who was the heroine, became the antagonist.
I, as the protagonist, managed to avoid execution by the Emperor. Instead, in this version, I become the Crown Princess and die in a battle with the Great Demon.
(Prophecy Version 3)
Time of Appearance – After Karena’s entry into Felosite
Weight – 20% Empire, 80% Felosite
Point of View – Felosite’s perspective
Protagonists – Karena
Antagonist – Great Demon Beast
Ending – Sad Ending, Karena dies in a battle with the Great Demon Beast
(※ If those with the power of light, magic power, or a piece of God’s power cannot combine their abilities, the entire continent will be destroyed.)
Special note – Both Karena and Felosite’s families die in battle with the Great Demon Beast
And finally, the most recent version.
When I moved to Felosite and married the Archduke, the novel’s setting shifted from the Empire to Felosite. As a result, Felosite’s weight significantly increased.
However, there’s one thing I’ve noticed.
‘If those with the power of light, magic power, or a piece of God’s power cannot combine their abilities, Felosite will be destroyed?’
In other words.
To prevent destruction, like when I was pushing for Gabriel and Beatrice’s marriage…
‘You mean we can prevent destruction only when I combine my abilities with the Archduke?!’
