Chapter 13
Caught off guard, I was so flustered by the answer that I didn’t even think to ask what kind of curse it was.
‘I feel like I’ve become a heroine without any context. Did the genre of this novel change?’
On one hand, I felt grateful.
I never felt that kind of sentiment even from my family whom I’ve been with all my life.
Not in my past life and not in this one either.
I always believed that a family was an entity that gave love proportionate to the effort one puts in.
‘In a way, even brother Gabriel was a family member I earned through effort.’
In the original work, the relationship between Gabriel and Princess Karena wasn’t this fond or close.
Despite their strikingly similar looks, they seemed hardly related given their distant behavior.
After realizing that I’ve reincarnated into the novel, I tried my best to build rapport with all the royals to maximize my chances of survival.
I mastered the ‘Power of Light’ two years earlier than in the original work to gain the Emperor’s approval, and even tackled challenging academic subjects that I had never properly studied in my past life.
Thanks to that, I not only received the basic education expected of a princess, but also studied imperial teachings alongside Gabriel.
I tried my best to be well-regarded not just by Gabriel, but also by Beatrice, Liam, and Queen Yuliana.
‘Well, I can’t say it was a success. After all, I got backstabbed.’
But for someone like her to go to such lengths for me, who she’d known for less than a week, made me feel emotional. Now I understand why people appreciate such sentiments.
“Thank you, Sylonne. Truly.”
I tightly held Sylonne’s hand, expressing my gratitude in my own way.
“Lady Sylonne and Your Highness, I don’t want to interrupt this touching moment between the two of you, but…”
While we were holding hands and laughing together, Madame Huron approached and gestured toward the door.
“How about discussing the wedding dress first?”
Madame Huron’s dress shop exceeded all expectations.
“Your Highness, since you have a petite frame, I’d recommend a bell line. Considering Heaven Hall where the wedding will take place, it’s a perfect width. Would you like to try? You can adjust the skirt width by moving two fingers while holding this dial.”
The dress shop was built with cutting-edge technology, surpassing modern standards.
The process of making a dress with Madame Huron utilizing this technology was as follows:
First, there was a consultation about the desired dress atmosphere.
Most of this process was undertaken by Sylonne and Madame Huron rather than me.
“Madame, considering Heaven Hall has strong lighting, wouldn’t something that shimmers a lot under those lights be pretty?”
“We’ll incorporate small jewels. I’ll make the most dazzling dress in Huron’s history.”
The dress’s design was closely related to the location of the wedding.
The lighting, size, and decorations of the wedding venue would determine the suitable design.
Having not seen the wedding venue and being hastily brought in, I had to entrust everything to them.
After all, wasn’t I a planner who had organized parties and weddings in my past life? So I knew very well that the principle ‘Trust the dress expert!’ was the truth.
Especially if that designer was the best in Felosite.
Next was the measurement of body dimensions.
They had an amazing machine called the ‘Body Measuring Device’, a large cylindrical device.
“Your Highness, please step in slowly.”
When the person to be measured enters the machine in their underwear, the machine captures images from all sides. All the related data is then transmitted to a large screen made of a magical stone.
Using this data, a dress design can be made on the screen.
“We’ll deliver the dress within a week as requested by the Felosite family. However, since it’s hand-made, it may take a bit longer. Please be aware.”
“Thank you, Madame Huron. See you again.”
“It’s a great honor to be able to make the wedding dress for you.”
After exchanging greetings with Madame Huron and the staff, we descended the stairs weakly.
But the lobby was noisy.
“You can’t make the wedding dress on time? How could this happen!”
A young noble lady was crying out in dismay.
“I’m sorry, Miss Lituwa. We have a shortage of silk and lace supply this month, so we couldn’t-“
“But I ordered it months ago! My wedding is just around the corner! What should I do!”
The blonde lady, about to burst into tears, grabbed and interrogated the employee.
The flustered employee didn’t know what to do and just bowed his head.
“Oh no… we can’t break the engagement…”
Madame Huron, who had been watching, sighed deeply and said:
“This month, for some reason, there’s been a drastic shortage in fabric supplies like silk and lace for wedding dresses. We have a backlog of orders. It’s a big problem.”
“Then how can my wedding dress be made in just a week?”
Madame Huron looked troubled.
“Well, the thing is…”
Unable to finish her sentence due to her embarrassment, I tilted my head and looked at Madame.
‘Why? Was that such a tough question?’
Feeling the awkward atmosphere between us, Sylonne smiled and whispered in my ear:
“We have a black market!”
“A black market?”
A black market where goods not legally imported are sold through smuggling.
“My brother runs it directly. He will personally procure the fabrics.”
According to Sylonne, because the quantity of all goods officially entering Felosite is insufficient, they prioritize supplying the citizens first. The palace in Felosite then sources goods through different channels. The amount brought in by the Archduke personally is several times that of the official route.
‘Empire’s dominance is no joke. No wonder the locals despise those from the Empire.’
As I left the shop, the crying lady weighed heavily on my mind. I looked back several times.
‘I wish I could help.’
After wrapping up at the dress shop, I was so exhausted I couldn’t think of the next appointment.
‘It’s strange, was I always this weak?’
Seeing my drained state, Sylonne joked:
“You didn’t drink the Rivetimentor, did you?”
“Oh, right!”
“I told you, you have to drink it every day, sister.”
“I forgot in the rush earlier. It’s a big problem, I didn’t bring any with me.”
The magical defense potion that Sylonne gave me when we first met. It was supposed to be needed only in the palace, but according to her, my abilities are stronger than anticipated.
If I don’t take it daily while staying in Felosite, I might collapse.
“What should we do? Should we go back immediately?”
“It would be a waste. We still need to order the wedding cake. And I’d love to eat some of my favorite desserts.”
I’d be up for eating a lot of dessert too. Forgetting the Rivetimentor made me curse myself.
“Is it that good? I’m sorry, because of me…”
Just as I finished speaking, we arrived at the carriage. We were just waiting for the door to open.
“Sister, the weather is nice. Should we walk?”
“All the way to the palace?”
“Not to the palace. The bakery is right there.”
Seeing my confusion, Sylonne chuckled and rummaged through her pocket. She pulled out something and handed it to me – a small vial glowing blue.
“Ta-da! I brought it just in case.”
“Sylonne, did you bring this because of me?”
“Not for you, for me. In case we couldn’t eat cake because of you.”
Jokingly, Sylonne handed me the vial.
“Let’s go!”
I felt relieved after drinking the potion and linked arms with Sylonne.
“Sylonne, do they have strawberry whipped cream cake at the bakery?”
“Of course! It’s the signature dessert here. It melts in your mouth.”
“Wow! I love it. My favorite cake is…”
Just then, the communication stone Sylonne was holding started to shine.
