Chapter 54 - To Smash a Cockroach
Chapter 54 – To Smash a Cockroach
Not far away from them, Zhou Jing watched them with extreme jealousy. Her inner curiosity was like a cat’s claw, scratching her from inside.
The only way to appease her curiosity was to find out what they were laughing about.
What the hell is going on here? Didn’t Su Jin and Mu Xiulun broke up? Why did Mr. Mu come to visit her? Who is the old man standing next to Su Jin?
He laughed so hard that his wrinkles were in full display. Is he the elder of the Mu family?!
Zhou Jing stayed beside the second uncle for a long time and met many members of the Mu family, but even if she was on the brink of breaking her head, she couldn’t remember the elderly man in any of the family occasions she attended.
Her eyes squinted as she calculated the old man by his appearance.
Although the clothes on his body were clean, they were slightly old. The cuffs and elbows were worn out. The briefcase in his hand was also not any better. It was weary, and its leather was chipped at all sides.
He really did not look like a rich man from the Mu family.
However, Mu Xiulun and Su Jin were kind and respectful to the old man, so his status must be extraordinary! She thought greedily to herself.
Realizing this, Zhou Jing quickly fixed her dress, raised a too eager smile, and stepped on a small high heel before walking briskly towards the group.
“What are you talking about, Miss Su and Mr. Mu?” She spoke in a bright tone.
She always knew her way with men. Hence, she stopped in front of Mu Xiulun, yearning his gaze to stick to her figure, like iron does to a magnet…
But when would Mu Xiulun remember her? He looked cold and asked, “Who are you?”
Zhou Jing did not feel embarrassed at all. She flattered her eyes and spoke flirtatiously.
“Mr. Mu is such a busy man that he forgets a lot. That night, we were in the revolving restaurant…”
Su Jishi interrupted her performance directly and threw a few words to Mu Xiulun.
“She, the sthe second aunt.”
Zhou Jing: “…”
Mu Xiulun remembered her immediately and spatted, “My second uncle is not divorced yet, but thankfully, he has second aunt to look after him.” He stated, informing the bewildered Professor Zhang.
Zhou Jing fell silent.
She now understood that even if the two broke up, they were still on the same boat against her!
But this time she came to befriend them, mainly to explore the identity of the old man with them.
She turned to President Zhang and smiled as refreshing as a spring breeze.
“Oh I haven’t asked yet, this gentleman is?”
President Zhang had always been modest. “My surname is Zhang. I am just an ordinary teacher in the next college.”
Teacher? Zhou Jing’s eyes rolled. Is he only a university teacher?
Before she knew it, Mu Xiulun spoke in a stern voice.
“Professor Zhang is the most famous fourth-period scholar in China and his works are known worldwide.”
“Fourth season? Oh, what a coincidence.” Zhou Jing was very thick-skinned and had no scruples about what other people were thinking.
“Professor Zhang, we are so predestined friends! The fourth season is winter, I was born in winter!”
Season?! Winter?!
Right after she spoke this, Su Jishi burst into laughter.
Not only that, Su Jishi’s laughter got louder and louder viciously.
It is said that in the entertainment circle, one should always keep in mind that “one should stay on the line to meet each other in the future,” which means, being careful to have good terms with everyone.
However, Su Jishi was quite the opposite. What line should she desire to stay if it included her watching cockroaches to breed without being crushed to death?
Besides, as a geologist, Su Jishi really couldn’t stand letting Zhou Jing away without being thought a lesson. She didn’t mean to be rude, it’s just that she found her efforts to please the President Zhang hilarious.
Su Jishi directly exposes the truth. “Second Aunt, the 4th period studied by President Zhang is the concept of geological age division, just like Jurassic and Cretaceous. The 4th period is the latest period of 4.6 billion years of life on earth.”
This basic definition, for any geologist, is a piece of common and essential knowledge. For outsiders, however, what she said was totally unheard of.
Zhou Jing: “…”
She wished she could travel back in time ten minutes ago. Why did she even bother to approach them? Ah!
President Zhang was very surprised, “Miss Su, I didn’t expect that you like geology?”
