Chapter 7: Hyung, you said you gamed a little in the past? (7)
"Do you really need to go that far, just to earn 10,000 won more?"
It had already been 20 minutes since the game had started.
The magical shroud restricting the boundaries of the stadium had entered its final phase with only 4 survivors: my brother and I, as well as 2 others who had not yet been located.
The two of them could either be on the same team, or working separately.
Well, it made no difference.
We would kill them regardless.
“Hyung, honestly, I thought I was really good at gaming. My viewers said that I was talented and naturally gifted.”
"Are you going somewhere with this? "
“That’s…… All.”
Jinhyukie’s impression of me was clearly different from what it had been at the beginning of the game.
At first, he likely thought of me as baggage.
After seeing my results, however, it seemed that his initial impression had completely changed.
- Strong! Strong! Strong! Strong!
- Ministry of National Defense! You guys were wrong!
- Breaking news) The MND will admit Strong Man to the 707th Special Forces unit.
You want me to return to the army?
Don’t talk nonsense.
I looked around, tapping lightly on the crowbar.
In addition to the 6 kills with the crowbar I recorded in the beginning of the match, I had beaten 11 more people since receiving the mission.
My current record was 17 kills.
All 17 of those kills had been logged with the crowbar.
That meant 170,000 won in cash.
Or so would be the case if we won.
This area of the map, which has been designated as the final zone, was known as <The Throne>.
It was a hall with twelve pillars and a resplendent throne situated between them.
In other words, there was no place to hide.
We headed straight towards the throne.
The magical shroud would eventually narrow down to this point, and if we waited, the ones who were hiding would eventually be forced to come out.
There was no need to take the risk of searching around the pillars.
"We can take care of them one by one, right?"
As he asked me this question, Jinhyukie furtively placed his hand on the brilliant throne.
However, I immediately shook my head firmly.
"You can just crouch behind the throne. Hyung will take care of this by himself."
"Do you really need to go that far, just to earn 10,000 won more?"
"What? Juuuuuust 10,000 won?"
It was then.
A player hiding behind the second pillar ran toward the throne, clutching a long spear. Another fired an arrow at me from behind the fourth column.
I moved as though I had been waiting for this moment.
I jumped on the throne, immediately stepping on the shaft of the spear coming in my direction.
It wasn't that hard to accomplish, but the wielder’s face, as he saw me balance on the spear shaft, was slack with astonishment.
Puuuuuk-!
When I swung the crowbar at his head, his helmet began to dent little by little.
The spearman's helmet was yellow, meaning it was a legendary grade piece of equipment, but it gradually crumpled inwards with every blow.
"Uwaaa! Crazy bastard!"
Just like in <Gaia Online>, weapons such as spears were at a disadvantage when it came to close combat.
It was a powerful weapon, but only when the wielder could keep their target at a distance.
In other words, the outcome was fixed the moment he rushed forward.
Easily dodging the recklessly swinging spear while smashing his helmet, I raised the crowbar high in the air one last time.
"Y-you're a fucking……"
Puuuuk-!
One down.
Alright, the archer who had shot that arrow…..
"I'm sorry! Hwaaaaaa!"
What.
"I-I'll take care of myself! Please don't kill me like that!"
The archer wailed, dropping to her knees in tears.
I had no idea where this was suddenly coming from.
This wasn't part of the plan.
10,000 won wasn't even some person's dog's name, so to have it run off like this was embarrassing.
Let's discuss this calmly, in a gentle manner.
"I'll kill you nicely; just stay still."
I tried to calm her down as much as possible and decided to just stretch out my hand….
At that, she cried even harder and shouted desperately.
"Uwaaaaaa! You crazy, perverted son of a biiiiitch!"
Paaaat.
Those were her last words, and a message window soon appeared before my eyes.
[You have won on the glorious battlefield of <Avalon>!]
[Achievement <Naturally gifted> acquired!]
[Achievement <Reincarnation of Gordon Freeman> acquired!
[Achievement <Corpse farming is the best way to farm> acq….]
…….I'm. Really not a pervert.
Soooob.
170k won is about $140 USD
Edit: 10/10/2020 – regarding the usage of the word ‘pervert'. The word used here is 변태 which refers to someone with abnormal sexuality or psychology, depending on the second word 변태 성욕자 or 변태 심리학 (the word for sadist is also a derivation of the former). In the raws, both the other player and Kim Chansik only use 변태 so it's difficult to pinpoint which they mean.
I went with pervert since that's the more common usage of the word, and because ‘pervert' also has a secondary meaning of sick, depraved, etc. (see ‘perverted', ‘perversion', etc.). I also consulted one of my Korean friends for this and thankfully it didn't raise eyebrows ? Some of our readers asked whether the word used here should be ‘psycho'. This would be incorrect, as that is not the understood meaning of 변태 used in this manner. Moreover, I do consider psycho to be a slur against those with mental illness and would prefer not to use it.
