The Vice Captain of the WhiteBeard Pirates

Chapter 268: The Night Before The Raid

Before we left to check on the child. I had already scanned Kuma and ensured that Vegapunk hadn't done any funny business to Kuma.

Although he appeared to be a kind old man, he was a mad scientist at heart, willing to do anything to achieve a goal.

Seeing that there weren't any mechanisms within his body. I left with Dragon, Ken, and Vegapunk to go check up on the kid. We went through numerous corridors before finally arriving in a quiet room that looked abandoned.

Vegapunk fidgeted with the door handle before it clicked open and walked in the door. Walking in, we were met with the sight of a child who was floating in a tube. Her short pink hair fluttered as bubbles floated from the child's mouth. Scanning her with Observation Haki, I could tell that she was okay.

Dragon hummed in a satisfied tone.

"Good, I can move a breath a bit more comfortably knowing that they're both safe," Dragon remarked.

"Well, only for now; I can't have these two on my island any longer than this. I don't want the World Government breathing down my neck and forcing me to do things that I don't want to do," Dr. Vegapunk replied.

"I thought we were leaving them on Egg Head Island? We're supposed to be heading to Mariejois right after this," Ken commented.

"He's right; we're supposed to be heading to Mariejois right now to get Ginny out of there," Dragon pointed out.

"Well, they can't stay with me any longer. I'm already pushing their limits by delaying Kuma's acquisition. They'll accuse me of insubordination if they find out that I've been helping them," Dr. Vegapunk remarked.

Dragon held his chin and pondered on how he should proceed forward.

"Does Kuma and the kid need any more medical attention?" I asked.

"Nope, they've recovered quite well under my care, and they're ready to head out at any time. The only reason I'm keeping the child in the tube is because she's a noisy one, and she interrupts my work," Vegapunk replied.

"That's fine then; they can ride on my back while we head near the Red Line and drop them off on a safe island till the raid is done," I proposed.

Dragon didn't seem to have anything against this proposition, and neither did Dr. Vegapunk.

"What about the World Government Agents? They'll be waking up pretty soon," Ken asked curiously.

"Ken, you kill them all," I replied, "and make sure you don't leave any bodies. I'll handle the ships that are surrounding the island," I replied.

"I'll stay with Vegapunk and make sure that Kuma and the child are ready to head out," Dragon remarked.

"Alright, let's make this happen then, and make it quick," Dr. Vegapunk clapped his hands.

Soon, we had pretty much cleaned out the entirety of Egghead Island. Kuma and the still-sleeping child were pretty much ready to head out with Dragon right next to them. Meanwhile, Ken smelt like Barbeque after incinerating all the World Government Agents within the vicinity.

The smell almost made me feel hungry.

Almost.

"Alright, it looks like you guys are all set. Get out, and let me know how the raid goes," Dr. Vegapunk kindly remarked.

I slowly turned into my draconic form.

Kuma, who had been holding the sleeping child, slowly took a few steps back as he tried to back away from me. However, I grabbed him with my tail before gently placing him on my back. Kuma was still under the influence of heavy sedation, so Ken was going to be right next to them to make sure they were going to be able to withstand the high speeds that I was about to go through.

Dr. Vegapunk bade us farewell before we immediately set out back towards the Red Line.

The time that it was going to take to head back to the Red Line was going to be a bit longer than it took when we were heading over to Egghead Island. However, it was still going to remain within the span of a day.

Dragon, amazingly, was still able to keep up with the speeds that I was going in while we were high in the sky.

Moreover, in order to maintain our covertness, I had to summon a storm around us to make sure that we weren't easily spotted by possible Marine surveillance. It wasn't that I was scared to make myself known, but it was more about making sure that they didn't know about our activities and making sure that they weren't going to be able to predict our movements.

Eventually, under the cover of the night, we finally landed on an island that Dragon had deemed safe to land on. Ken gently helped the recovering Kuma and child get back on the ground as I shrunk back to my human form.

Dragon was already on a call with the forces that he had left near the Red Line previously and was already giving out some orders for them. He got off the call with them and immediately met up with me in a room that I booked for the night.

"I have ordered my forces to meet up with us near Red Port; using the Bondolas to get to the Holy Land is going to be the easiest way to get all the forces up there," Dragon commented as he laid out a huge map with discreet details of Mariejois.

"Alright, if you're going to use the Bondolas. I'll use the same route that we used before to raid the place," I remarked.

"Won't they notice?" Dragon asked, "They aren't the ones to make the same mistake twice."

"I want to draw most of the attention to give you the opportunity to get Ginny without too much trouble," I commented, "if we were to raid them in one united front, it would have probably raised Ginny's risk a lot."

"Then that settles it," Dragon remarked, "I'm hoping that we'll be able to free some more slaves while we're at it, but extracting Ginny should be our first priority."

"Alright, but what should I do?" Ken asked.

"Snoop around and see whether you can find something interesting within Mariejois," I replied.

Ken didn't look too sure about it but accepted it either way.

"Let's rest for the night; we should be ready for the worst to come tomorrow."

Soon enough, we were all in bed resting.

The next day, we were all ready to leave. Kuma had recovered for the most part from the sedation and was able to function consciously, and the child looked just as lively as ever, bubbling about with laughter as she kept tugging at Kuma's long hair.

We didn't waste any more time, and we soon departed and made our way to our designated spots. The idea was to give out a signal as soon as we were both ready to start the operation.

Ken and I landed on top of the Red Line and stood facing the distant city of Mariejois. Technically, we landed pretty close to Mary Geoise in comparison to where we had landed with Whitebeard, but that came with its own consequences....or should I have expected that?

Right in front of us, weapons raised and pointed at us, a countless number of World Government Agents, along with two of the Five Elders, stood right in front of Ken and me.

The two Elders in question were none other than Ethanbaron V. Nusjuro and Jaygarcia Saturn. Veins were more than visible on their foreheads as they looked like they were about to practically explode from their heads.

"Boris.....to think that you'd actually have the guts to raid Mariejois again...do you take us for weaklings?!" Nusjuro growled as the temperature around us cooled.

We were had.
