Chapter 5: Chapter 5: The True Top-Tier Nobility_1
Nathalie Quinlan lazily lifted her eyelids, pondered for a moment, and then slowly lifted her leg to follow.
The Waterfront Pavilion was expansive, but the person seemed very familiar with the place—tall with long legs, moving quickly yet always maintained just half a step's distance from her.
Her brows furrowed slightly as she gripped the strap of her shoulder bag, feeling somewhat headachy.
Her search for her biological parents had started as a desire to understand who she was, but now it seemed as if she had fallen into some kind of trouble...
"Nathalie?"
She was moving heel to toe when suddenly, a familiar voice from beside her called out her name in surprise.
She looked up to see a crowd standing not far away.
Jeff Quinlan, Mrs. Quinlan, Grandma Quinlan, and Ghania Quinlan—whom she had just parted ways with not long ago—were all present.
In addition to the Quinlans, Zayn Fisher and Mrs. Fisher were there as well, along with two women in Tang costumes, the younger one supporting the elder by the hand. The elder had her snow-white hair pinned up, a string of vibrant green jade necklace hanging around her neck, and the rose-colored Tang costume lent her an air of grace and solidity that spoke of years gone by, as she too gazed in her direction. She turned slightly, speaking with the person beside her, as if asking who she was.
Seeing Nathalie there, the faces of the Quinlan family members were a mix of emotions.
"What are you doing here?" Jeff Quinlan approached quickly and spoke in a lowered voice, the look of annoyance clear in his eyes.
He had given Nathalie money, which she didn't accept. He had thought she had some integrity, not expecting her to chase them here!
Ghania was about to take a teacher, and the Fisher Family were also present. He didn't want the family's dirty laundry aired for all to see, so suppressing his anger, he said, "Nathalie, neither your mom, your grandma, nor I chased you away. It was you who posted online seeking your biological parents. Now that they've been found, why aren't you following them home? What is this fuss about?"
He assumed Nathalie had heard their conversation downstairs and had deliberately followed them.
Without glancing at Amadeus Yancey next to Nathalie, he pulled out his wallet and said, "Have you thought it over, or do you want to take the ten thousand?"
He took a bank card out of his wallet to give to Nathalie.
Seeing his frustrated demeanor, Nathalie lowered her eyelids and was just about to speak,
when suddenly a hand deftly interjected, pushing Jeff Quinlan's bank card back into the wallet and taking her hand with the other, the corners of his eyes lowered as he addressed Nathalie with a bloodthirsty tone, "Let's go, Grandpa Zachmann is waiting for you."
Nathalie's eyebrows nearly knotted together, as those who knew her understood she had a strong aversion to being touched; the last person who tried ended up in the hospital for three months before being discharged.
Now her left hand was firmly held, his warm palm completely enveloping hers, causing a fine layer of sweat to form in the palm of Nathalie's hand. She lifted her head to glance at the man naturally holding her hand.
He did not need to hold her hand to help her out of the situation!
Nathalie wanted to shake him off, yet seeing the Quinlan family all standing there watching from a distance, she swallowed back the words that were about to come out.
Without so much as a glance at Jeff Quinlan, let alone entangling herself with him,
she uttered a soft "Alright" and followed behind the man, entering the 'Water' VIP room under the watchful eyes of the Quinlan family.
The Quinlan family, including Jeff Quinlan, were all stunned.
Waterfront Pavilion was unlike other places; it was so popular that they had to pull a lot of strings just to book a spot there for the evening, and it was merely an ordinary compartment. However, Nathalie had just entered a private room with that young man.
It seemed like just a two-character difference, but the gap in the status it represented was as wide as a chasm!
