Chapter 6.2
‘Was your head that seriously hurt?'
Of course, he was injured to the extent that he was in danger of becoming vegetative. But no amount of memory loss should make a person's nature change that much? Although Yoo Eun Ho was worried, he also thought that this change was not bad. No, it was rather good.
"You didn't have to come here like this…"
Kim Jong Ho's parents also reacted nervously to Yeon Seo's actions. According to their son, he was prepared to resign because he couldn't take it anymore, that the man in front of them was a bastard just as rumoured. But the reality was quite different from what they heard.
“Although this does not bring back the dead, we have prepared a small amount of condolence money. Please accept it.”
“No, I can't. I already received the condolence money from the company's CEO.”
I thought it would be a corrupt company since Yeon Seo is involved, but it seems the CEO is still a decent person. He adjusted his expression, thinking that if persuading his family failed, he would have to try synchronizing his memory again.
“I heard that your son turned the wheel before the collision happened, that's why I survived.”
Of course, whether or not he turned the wheel, the original Yeon Seo died instantly, but the burden on his heart was still heavy. The Yeon Seo of that time and the Yeon Seo now are completely different people, but at least Kang Jin Hoo of 2207 did not take human life lightly.
“It will put my heart at ease if you please accept it.”
"Still…"
Kim Jong Ho's parents stubbornly refused. They had already received the insurance and compensation money. In addition, the CEO of the company had also given them some condolence money, so there was no reason for Yoo Yeon Seo to offer even more.
“I have a lot of money, and it's already been deposited.” came the reply from Yoo Yeon Seo in a voice that sounded frighteningly final.
And just as soon as he finished speaking, a text notification could be heard from the bereaved's cell phone. Concerned that this would happen, he ordered Lim Seung Hyun to deposit the money at the set time.
Kim Jong Ho's father looked at the text message in shock, realizing that this was no mere condolence money. Who would give such a large sum as condolence?
“Don’t worry, we’ve already taken care of all the matters such as taxes.” came Yoo Yeon Seo's reassuring reply.
“No, but this is too much.”
“I'll be leaving then. We'll see ourselves out.”
Yoo Yeon Seo abruptly stood up, cutting off the conversation. While Kim Jong Ho's parents were hesitant about what to do, Kim Jong Ho's younger brother, who had been quietly eavesdropping, came out.
“Do you really think everything can be solved with money?”
Hmm, he had not been prepared for this scenario. How would Yeon Seo respond? He combed through the 1.35% of his memories with Yoo Yeon Seo's usual behaviour and mannerisms that he had researched on the Internet.
“Then, how is this solved with money?”
"What?"
Kim Jong Ho's younger brother was not impressed with Yoo Yeon Seo's words. And since he had heard some unflattering things before, he suspected that money was being used as a pretext to improve his image. He knew that money wouldn't bring his brother back, but his pride did not like the way money was being thrown at him as if he was compromising.
Yoo Yeon Seo saw through his thoughts from his expression.
"I think you're looking for someone to blame But I am not the one who took drugs and drove the car. Didn't I almost die as well?"
"…"
“We didn't know each other for long, but he was my manager, so I offered some comfort in my own way. As you know, I have more than enough money.”
Saying that Yeon Seo headed for the car where Lim Seung Hyun was waiting. Kim Jong Ho's younger brother did not follow and stopped on the spot.
“Are you looking down on me just for that?”
"That's…"
“Don't hold onto your stubborn pride. You can choose to spend it on a car or use it for tuition. Well, do as you please.”
‘Oh, when did I become so good at this?' Yeon Seo said nothing more and got into the car.
“You've changed.”, Yoo Eun Ho commented.
"Me?", Yoo Yeon Seo tried to dismiss it flippantly. However, Yoo Eun Ho's soft expression and demeanour made it seem like he was watching a kindergarten kid. This was why Yoo Yeon Seo just couldn't change his habit.
"You never used to care about things like this."
"Oh, that's…"
Yoo Yeon Seo's eyebrows furrowed. He decided to feign confusion and hope for it to work.
"I don't know. Why did I do that?”
"…"
"It just seemed like something I should do…"
"You did well."
‘Is this okay? Did it work?' Yoo Yeon Seo glanced over to see Yoo Eun Ho's gentle smile.
‘Maybe he's finally grown up. That would good.'
Yoo Eun Ho thought that it would be nice if Yoo Yeon Seo acted as he had done now. It was time to put an end to the grandfather-grandson fight and for their father who was hurt whilst trying to stop them.
As the car that drove the Yoo siblings left, another figure got out of the car that was parked behind. Reporter Lee Da Woon, who had been taking pictures of Yoo Yeon Seo's discharge, narrowed his eyes.
* * * * *
“Why did you come here?”
I was about to head home, but something is tingling my senses. Lee Da Woon quickly got back into the car and changed into a neat suit.
"I'll find out by asking directly."
Articles about Yoo Yeon Seo are always profitable. Simply copying Yeon Seo's posts on SNS as articles generates more than the basic advertising revenue. There was even a separate journalist in his company who focused on marking Yeon Seo. Some people might curse, "Who has that much free time?", but isn't it good as long as you can make money regardless of whether you get cursed at or not?
Lee Da Woon adjusted his attire one final time before ringing the doorbell of the house where the Kim family lived.
"Who is it?"
Kim Jong Ho's brother opened the door.
"Hello. I am the attendant of the young master who just visited.”
“Yes, what can I do for you?”
"I think the young master forgot something. would it be okay for me to come in for a moment and check?"
Lee Da Woon lied smoothly.
“Yes, please come in.”
Kim Jong Ho's younger brother looked wary but stepped aside to let him in.
