(Vol2)47. Blade of Eternity
"The first item is a rare storage ring engraved with tier 3 spatial magic, comfortable and durable minerals. In addition, the size and shape of the ring can be controlled. The bid will start at 4000 gold." Vendo says.
A small silver box enough to fit a ring appears at the podium. A large number of "4000" materialize in the sky.
Since I'm trying to get one ring...let's join in. On the corner of the table is a row of buttons. Respective buttons increment an increasing amount to the current highest bid.
A patron wearing a rabbit mask on the opposite end presses a button and the number changes to "4500". A large arrow points at the highest bidder.
"4500 for Sir Rabbit! Is there anyone who would like to challenge him?"
...
I press the button that increments 1000 gold.
"And 5500 for Sir Tiger! Anymore? Come on, give me 100 more!" says Vendo.
Another bidder with a lion mask decided to press the button at the most left, incrementing 100.
"And another 100 is in! Is there anymore-"
I press a button and the number increments by 100.
The lion bidder presses another 100.
Oh really...so this is how it is going to go.
*BEEP*
*BEEP*
*BEEP*
Both of us continuously spam the 100 increment button.
"Oh my! It's only the first item yet a heated battle takes place!" says Vendo.
Before long, the amount was raised to 6700 gold.
The true market value of that ring should be around 15000 gold but I am willing to pay more. The rings' shapeshifting abilities can derive unique and creative battle methods.
The lion bidder then launches a bomb of surprise by incrementing 50000 to the amount, totalling 56700.
!
What... Is he that desperate?
I sigh and raise my hand in defeat.
The lion bidder snickers at my response.
"Amazing! Going once! Going twice! Sold to Sir Lion!"
The second item is a summoning scroll of a large monster that controls the darkness. The scroll is primarily for tamers thus of no use to me. Throughout the auction, the lion bidder constantly challenges every bid as if to flaunt his or her status. He should not be Luxian. Luxian does not have the wealth nor personality to be arrogant.
Every item in the auction was appealing to me and I was prepared to leave empty-handed until...
"Folks, before we announce the last item for today, we will warn all patrons to brace themself. Patrons with weak endurance will be asked to leave." Vendor says.
A warning?
A long rectangular wooden box with several scrolls pasted to it appears on the podium.
Vendo snaps and the scrolls disintegrate into thin air, the box slowly opens. A wave of energy erupts and pushes everyone back.
?!
A sword with a bright white blade shines amidst the void as it levitates.
White stripes wrap around the hilt, the pommel has a blue gem engraved.
However, the upper part of the blade is missing and the remaining blade has chipped edges.

The Hero was revered for his unyielding nature and piercing justice. He was a beacon of hope in the dark future.
The two symbols that represented The Hero were his dual blades, The Sword of Fortitude and The Blade of Eternity.
-------------------
Why is this here?!
The Blade of Eternity is only obtained in chapter 3 after the defeat of the ninth Demon Lord's son found in the treasury.
This is an event behind the scenes!
Murmurs circulate among the patrons.
"As everyone is aware this was one of the swords that The Hero used. Albeit broken, the material of the sword may be used to forge another excellent weapon. Due to...a request from our source, the starting bid will be 50000 gold." says Vendo, trying his best to maintain a smile.
"What, 50000?! That's worth a flying carriage!" a patron behind me exclaims.
Many people ponder about participating.
Items sold in an auction are provided by a seller. The earnings are then divided as fees to the organisation and revenue for the seller. Since this auction operates in the underworld, the fees should be as high as 40%.
A patron with a wolf mask raises his or her hand.
"Yes?" Vendo says.
"May we know what the blade is made of?" the wolf patron says.
Vendo gulps anxiously and sweats. "S-Sorry ma'am...we...do not know."
"What..."
Many patrons find that ridiculous and disappointing. But I know it isn't the agency's fault. The sword was made from Meteorite Star, an otherworldly material unknown to most.
"I knew it was a bad idea...why did the madam agree to this..." Vendo mumbles and sighs.
*BEEP!*
!
Everyone gasps and collectively turns their head. The lunatic that placed his bid is the lion mask patron.
That guy again...
Only a few people know the true potential of the weapon without the help of the game system. Appraisal magic isn't accurate.
...
I increase the bid by 10000.
The lion mask patron jolts at my response.
"Do you know what would happen if you can't pay?" the lion patron says to me.
"I know, execution. No questions asked."
"..."
My opponent increases the bid by another 10000 gold, I follow. He clicks his tongue in annoyance and increments another.
With the bid at 80000, I can see the lion guy at his limit. His excessive spending spree for other items backfired.
I increase the bid by 5000 and the lion patron jumps out of his chair pulling his hair.
"You..." The lion patron grumbles.
"I'm not responsible for your fatuous spending," I reply.
Even with his mask, I can feel the seething glare. He sits back down in defeat and backs off.
"Going once! Going twice! Sold to Sir Tiger!" says Vendo.
