Chapter 2856 Death Time
Chapter 2856 Death Time
Hours after entering the previous spatial distortion, Minos, and his wives had gone deep into the heritage of the 'King of Beasts'.
The four of them had already been through several difficult situations since making the brave choice to go all the way in this search for the Divine Tail, passing a few tests and traps on their way.
Now they were descending a long staircase, where the pressure against them increased with each step down. As their bones creaked from the extreme weight of their bodies, micro-needles constantly struck their bodies, making them feel pain and waver in their resolve.
But they stood firm, keeping an eye on what lay in the depths of this area: the corpse of the 'Beast King' and the precious Divine Tail!
This had indeed been the place chosen by the 'King of Beasts' for his eternal rest after his deadly battle with Eternal Death and escape from Zocarro. In that inheritance capable of challenging ordinary Celestials was the Absolute grade absorbable weapon of the ancient and legendary 'King of Beasts'!
So the group was battling together, with Minos using his artificial energy reserves to raise the cultivation of his entire group, while his women worked in their own ways.
Gloria had her innate ability to control mercury at its peak, forming a defensive domain to protect her group. Meanwhile, Ruth slowed down the energy consumption of her companions, also healing their physical injuries caused by the last challenge in their path.
Last was Abby, stimulating the powers of her companions' Hell Crowns to make them better versions of themselves through these artifacts. She wasn't their leader, so she couldn't perform at her best. But as a Devil and holder of a power similar to theirs, she could strengthen them and combine her powers with theirs very well.
In this formation, the four of them, temporarily at level 124, demonstrated their resilience capable of competing with that of newly promoted Celestials.
"Let's take another step," said Minos when the group was ready, all of them moving straight away, feeling the weight of the pressure and offense of this inheritance intensify as soon as they set foot on the 11th step left in their path.
The feeling was that they could faint at any moment and lose their chances of getting what they so desperately wanted there. But they tried to hold each other together and resist the suffocating pain that spread further and further from their bodies as they progressed.
"One more step!" Minos said in a more altered tone, his veins popping as he had his seraphim wings fully spread, positioned to try to lessen the pressure on him and his women as much as possible.
This was a challenge that would end with a big winner, everyone there believed that. But Minos, from the beginning of this inheritance, had understood that he wouldn't reach the Divine Tail on his own. Without the help of his wives, it would be very difficult.
They took another step and then another, soon showing more gruesome appearances, with blood dripping from different parts of their bodies. Their skins and muscles became so compressed that, by the fourth step left in their path, their bodies were practically moving skeletons.
They had all lost their natural beauty, showing what was inside them, what would be left of them in the universe if they failed and died there.
Their bodies seemed to want to give up on this seemingly impossible mission, but their minds still held on to some ideals of perseverance. There was so little left that they couldn't give up. It would be a shame for them to fail so close to achieving what could turn the entire strength of their group upside down!
Minos shouted once more, this time unable to put it into words, but making clear his intention to advance.
"Aaaagh!"
The joint chorus seemed to work, with them finally setting foot on the penultimate rung to reach their goal.
At this point, Ruth and Gloria collapsed on the floor, still breathing and exclaiming in pain, but clearly incapacitated.
'From now on I can go it alone!' Minos mustered all the strength he had left to take the irrevocable steps, reaching the last rung and almost falling, but holding firm to reach the decisive point of this journey.
The moment his feet touched the last level of this area in Tanus' underground, all the pressure on them disappeared, while a glow emerged from the remaining throne in this place, where the skeleton and the Divine Tail were.
A cat-like creature formed from the glow of what must have been a spiritual remnant of the 'King of Beasts'. It looked in their direction and then at Minos, before giving a single nod of appreciation.
The creature said nothing before it began to disappear, only acknowledged its heir and then followed its long-blocked destiny.
The skeleton of the 'King of Beasts' crumbled almost instantly after the essence disappeared, causing the Divine Tail to float slowly through the air towards Minos.
His wives ignored their pain to look at that decisive scene, seeing the beginning of the end of their hunt.
Minos didn't hesitate to begin absorbing this absorbable weapon, letting the item and its essence begin the intricate process of fusion.
...
As Minos' group felt the silver lining of all the trouble they had gone through to reach the Divine Tail, a portal opened up near to where they were standing.
On the surface of Tanus, somewhere where there were no forests, the black portal revealed a group of creatures that anyone would understand very well where they were from.
These beings, who had recently passed through Eater, looked around, while Qhava recognized a powerful presence to the north of where they were.
"Undar is still here. We're just in time for them to try and escape again." She said with a wicked smile on her macabre face, promptly measuring the distance between her and the traitor who had deceived her for years.
"Let's settle this matter. The bastard seems to have found what he was looking for, but that's nothing that can stop me!" she announced before flying forward, moving so fast that she could cross continents in a matter of minutes!
