Chapter 13
Chapter 013: Wang Cheng, Are You Weak In The Kidneys?:
“Boss, give me two crates of water, please.”
Entering the cafeteria, Qi Lin skillfully greeted the shop owner. Being wealthy and carefree, Qi Lin frequently visited the school’s cafeteria.
Although he had only transferred to the school a month ago, he had already become acquainted with the owner.
“No problem, Ah Qiang, bring out two crates of water for Young Master Qi.”
The shop owner chuckled and instructed his son to fetch the things. As Qi Lin drove a luxury car to school and was generous with his spending, the shop owner respectfully called him ‘Young Master Qi.’
“Heh, do you really think people call you ‘Young Master Qi’ because they respect you? Hump! They might already be cursing you in their hearts, calling you an idiot.”
Watching Qi Lin and the shop owner chat enthusiastically, Wang Cheng, who followed behind like a lackey, felt sour.
If Qi Lin heard Wang Cheng’s words, he would definitely roll his eyes.
After all, Wang Cheng had received many favors from Qi Lin, but when Qi Lin encountered difficulties, Wang Cheng betrayed him.
When Qi Lin’s family went bankrupt and he returned to school, he sought comfort in conversations with the shop owner. Despite Qi Lin’s misfortune, the shop owner treated him kindly and offered him free water and even gave him a pack of cigarettes before he left. The shop owner’s behavior of neither flattering Qi Lin’s wealth nor mocking his misfortune was commendable.
But compared to the shop owner, Wang Cheng wasn’t even worthy of his shoes.
“Wang Cheng, feel free to take whatever you want.”
Qi Lin pulled out a cigarette and lit it, casually saying to Wang Cheng.
The shop owner usually didn’t sell cigarettes to students, but he made an exception for Qi Lin.
Wang Cheng eagerly awaited these words from Qi Lin, and his face lit up with joy as he prepared to grab some items. However, Wang Cheng got smarter this time.
As he reached for the items, he hesitated momentarily and tentatively said to Qi Lin, “Just to be clear, I didn’t bring any money with me this time, so I can’t treat you.”
Hearing Wang Cheng’s words, Qi Lin felt disdain. But, on the surface, he simply flicked the ashes off his cigarette and said with a smile, “Don’t worry, I’ll pay for it this time.”
With these words, Wang Cheng finally felt relieved.
He picked up a bunch of snacks and drinks, totaling around 70 to 80 yuan.
Seeing this, the shop owner shook his head, disgusted by Wang Cheng’s blatant exploitation of Qi Lin’s generosity.
In fact, he had never seen someone take advantage of friends like this before, and he felt quite sorry for Qi Lin for befriending someone like this.
On the other hand, since Qi Lin took two crates of water, Wang Cheng didn’t take any, knowing he’d be getting his share from Qi Lin.
“Young Master Qi, the total comes to 168 yuan. I’ll round it down for you, so give me 160 yuan.” Saying this, the store owner put down the calculator with a smile.
Qi Lin didn’t rush to pay but instead looked at Wang Cheng beside him. This sudden look startled Wang Cheng. He knew Qi Lin must be planning to trick him again and make him pay again. Wang Cheng had made up his mind; this time, no matter what Qi Lin said, he wouldn’t fall for it again. He could just return the items in his hands. However, this time Wang Cheng had misunderstood Qi Lin.
“Lately, I’ve been feeling a bit weak and unable to lift heavy things. Wang Cheng, could you help me carry these?” Qi Lin rubbed his shoulder and smiled as he glanced at the two crates of water on the floor.
“…!”
Wang Cheng understood Qi Lin’s meaning; he wanted Wang Cheng to carry the water crates. Despite Wang Cheng being 6 feet tall, he only weighed 130 pounds, quite thin.
Carrying one carton of water would be manageable, but two would strain his body. However, if he refused to carry them, another problem arose. What if Qi Lin refused to pay then? Looking at the pile of snacks in his hand, Wang Cheng felt reluctant.
“Wang Cheng, are you weak in the kidneys? A guy who’s 6 feet tall can’t even lift two crates of water?” Seeing Wang Cheng’s silence, Qi Lin asked in a surprised tone.
Men hated being accused of having weak kidneys; it was even worse than being morally kidnapped.
“Who says I can’t lift them? Just two crates of water, it’s nothing,” Wang Cheng said through gritted teeth upon hearing Qi Lin complain about his kidneys. How could he allow such an insult?
He clenched his teeth and said, “Boss, could you please help by placing the two crates of water on my shoulders?”
“Sure thing, no problem,” the shop owner said with a wide grin upon hearing Wang Cheng’s words. He was a clever man who observed how Wang Cheng had been taking advantage of Qi Lin’s generosity. He couldn’t stand Wang Cheng’s hypocritical behavior of manipulating Qi Lin into paying for everything. Now, he was pleased to see Wang Cheng’s spirit being subdued a bit.
“Pfft!”
When the two boxes of water were placed on Wang Cheng’s shoulders, he realized just how heavy they were. He nearly lost control of his bowels. But luckily, Qi Lin finally paid for the items.
“Damn, carrying two crates of water in exchange for a bag of snacks, I feel like I’m being treated like a laborer,” Wang Cheng cursed inwardly as he returned to the classroom.
“Xiao Shuai, come and help me unload these things.”
By this point, Wang Cheng’s face had turned into a pig’s liver, indicating he had reached his limit.
His back was sagging, and he looked like he was about to collapse. On the way to the classroom, he had already asked Qi Lin why he had bought so much water. Qi Lin told him that he wanted to treat his classmates.
“Trying to curry favor with our classmates behind my back? It’s not that easy,” Wang Cheng sneered inwardly at the time. He had already decided that when they returned to the classroom, he would claim that the water was bought by both him and Qi Lin to share with their classmates. After all, he had helped carry the water, and Qi Lin wouldn’t dare expose him, right?
However, just as Wang Cheng was about to catch his breath after unloading the two crates of water with his friends…
“It’s been a month since I transferred here, and I’d like to thank everyone for their kindness to me, Qi Lin. Today, I’ll treat everyone to water and snacks, and everyone gets a share.”
Qi Lin clapped his hands to attract everyone’s attention, then smiled.
