The Red Army

Chapter 1: The Choosing Day

Three years later…

{George}

It's been three years since my sister-in-law Eve destroyed a meteorite and saved Earth from total destruction. Not to mention she gave birth to a beautiful daughter who looks like a mini version of Eve. Eve named her daughter Zoey. The good thing about Eve being married to an outsider would be that Eve's child won't be trained in the congregations on anything until she turns sixteen. Or at least that's what I've been told.

The thing that's going to make it harder for Zoey to stay protected is that she's already showing signs of having powers. Zoey is able to turn into a cat. Well since she's a toddler she turns into a kitten. It's so adorable but it surprised Eve and Levi when it first happened. But Eve seems kind of worried about it now and I don't blame her.

On the other hand things for me have gotten quite interesting. I've developed more abilities like I can manipulate the element of wind. That's pretty cool because I can use that ability in order to fly. Another ability I have is that I can turn into a Puma. I can still turn into a black house cat but I like the idea of being able to turn into a Puma better.

Today is the Choosing Day. It's actually graduation day for Boot Camp cadets like me. We don't get a diploma or anything like that. We're just given our Agent ID's in accordance to whatever congregation we get assigned to.

As I got dressed in my uniform that was given to me for today I was nervous as hell.

"You're going to be fine," Jerry said as he put his arms around my waist. "I'm going to miss you but that's why we only had a friends with benefits relationship."

I nodded. "Yeah I know. But there is one other guy that caught my eye, but I never said anything because there's a strong possibility that we won't be in the same congregation. On top of that, I don't even know if he's gay or not or if he'd be interested in me."

Jerry looked like he wanted to say something as if he knew something that I didn't.

I narrowed my eyes. "What is it? What do you know?"

He smiled. "Oh nothing. I can't say a thing."

"About what?" I asked.

He smiled and shook his head. "Nope. Not saying a word." He let go of me and patted my ass. "Come on let's go or you're going to be late for the ceremony."

Once we got to the venue where the ceremony was going to be held, I took my seat in the front row reserved for me marked: Cadet George on it.

The venue was soon filled with other Cadets and they sat at their assigned seats. When I looked at the stage there were five different people sitting dressed in their soldiers' uniforms. They each had different symbols on them to signify which congregation they were from. There were two females and three males sitting on the stage.

The first lady looked like she was at least in her late forties, early fifties. Her symbol on her uniform was the letter A in the middle of a circle. Based on that symbol I'm going to assume she's the leader of A-Circle, one of the highest ranking congregations. A-Circle is where all new cadets come from after they're tested on.

The second lady who looked like she's getting to the age of retirement had the symbol of a crow sitting on a tree branch on her uniform. Based on the symbol she's from the Crow Birds congregation. That's the second highest ranking congregation because that is where all of the cadets training to be an Elder or for a higher rank come from.

There was a man sitting next to the lady from Crow Birds and he had a symbol of an open purple daisy on his uniform. Based on that symbol I'm going to assume that he's the leader of Purple Flowers and that's the congregation where Eve came from. I wished that I could be in that congregation but it is very likely that I won't be.

Another man who was sitting next to him had a symbol of a red flag on his uniform and I'm going to assume that guy is the leader of the Reds. The Reds are one of the lowest ranking congregations but they have a reputation for being tough guys and girls.

The last person sitting on the stage had a symbol of a shield on his uniform and I'm going to assume he's the leader of the Army. They're the lowest ranking congregation. But at the same time they have the same reputation as the Reds. They're tough guys and girls. If something needs to get done that doesn't involve a high ranking Agent then that's when the Reds and the Army congregations are called in.

I'm not sure how I would feel if I was assigned to the Reds or the Army but since I'm an outsider it's more than likely I might be placed in one of two congregations.

The guy that I'm interested in his name is Branden and he's often said that he'll be assigned to the Reds. But for some reason the leader of the Reds never chose him. The leader himself pulled him to say that yes he was on the list for the Reds he was just waiting for another Cadet to graduate. Whatever that means. I felt bad for Branden because he had to get held back because of another Cadet.

The ceremony started when an older man who was the one who ran Boot Camp went up to the podium. He cleared his throat and started his speech. "Gentlemen and Ladies can we get a round of applause for the Cadets that are graduating this year?"

Everyone in the room clapped for a moment or two until the guy put a hand to silence us. "To those of you who are getting ready to be shipped out to a congregation, I wish you good luck as your congregation leader will pick you and the cadets that are graduating up. I will have each leader who is sitting on the stage with me tonight come up one by one and announce the cadets that will be going back to the congregation with them tonight."

He turned to the people sitting on the stage and nodded. When he stepped back he allowed the leader of A-Circle to take the stage and announce the cadets going with her. Of course my name wasn't announced and it wasn't for the other two congregations either. I expected that. But at the same time I was sitting on pins and needles wondering if my name was even going to be called.

I've heard of some cadets' names not being called on their graduation day because they failed graduation or in Branden's case the leader's waiting for someone else to graduate. Yes apparently you can fail Boot Camp. I don't see how you can fail Boot Camp because it is about the easiest shit one can ever do.

The leader of the Reds, his name is Triple X, took the stage and started listing off names of the cadets who would be going to his congregation. When Branden's name was called I wanted to jump for joy. But when I looked over at Branden he looked at me and he seemed worried about something.

Then when my name was called I looked at Branden and he breathed a sigh of relief. While I was jumping for joy on the inside that I was picked at that same I was puzzled as to why Branden was relieved that I got picked for the same congregation that he was in.

After the last leader took the stage and listed off the names of cadets he was taking to his congregation, the person who ran Boot Camp took the stage again. "Congratulations to all graduating cadets! I wish you all good luck on your journey!"

After that we were ushered into another venue where the celebration for the graduating cadets was to happen.

I went over to the food station because I was hungry. The food station was set up buffet style so I could pick and choose what type of food I wanted. There were workers monitoring the food to make sure to fill up the food that was out. I grabbed a plate and piled on some food.

I brought my plate of food to a random empty table and sat down. I didn't really feel like hanging out with someone at the moment. I just wanted to eat. After I ate I walked around aimlessly and stopped short when I saw Chloe standing off to the side by herself with a scowl on her face.

What the hell is Chloe doing here? I thought.

I went up to her. "Hey Chloe. I haven't seen you in awhile. How have you been?"

"You haven't seen me because I made two of the biggest mistakes of my life," Chloe growled.

I paused. "Two?"

"Well the first one is I tried to kill Agent 36 when I worked for Levi. Actually, I tried to kill her several times but apparently the fucking butler stopped me," Chloe said.

My eyes went wide. "You tried to kill Eve? And Levi didn't have your ass thrown in jail?"

Chloe shook her head. "Nope. He just blacklisted me from ever getting a job from any of his companies."

I snickered because I knew Levi pretty much owned the whole town except for places like McDonald's and fast food places. Not to mention Levi's friends with the store owners and they won't hire someone that Levi doesn't like. So if Chloe wanted a job she'd have to move to another town or city someplace far away from Eve and Levi and that nobody knows her to get a job. I doubt she has enough money to do that.

"It's not funny George!" Chloe snapped.

"Oh I think it is! Because Levi could've done a lot more than just keeping you from getting a job. Trust me, I know. So what's your second biggest mistake?" I said.

"Becoming a cadet," Chloe growled. "It was a moment of weakness for me. I needed a job and didn't know where to go. I figured something was better than nothing. So I was recruited and now I'm here. I failed Boot Camp because I don't want to participate in whatever this is!"

I rolled my eyes. "Well you're going to be stuck here for a very long time!"

"Good! I don't care!" Chloe snarled. She had some tears fall down her eyes and I would've felt pity for her had she not tried to kill Eve.

I shrugged. "Alright then. Have fun being disciplined. Bye!"

Before Chloe could respond I walked off as fast as I could. I wasn't going to hang out with someone like Chloe before I left for the Reds. Not on a joyous day like today.

{Branden}

I'm so happy that George got selected to go to the same congregation I'm going to. I wanted to jump for joy the moment his name was called. I was even happier when I found out that I would be staying in George's cabin!

When I got to the cabin that George and I would be staying at, I looked around. There were two beds, one on one side of the room and the other on the other side of the room. It was a small cabin big enough for two people to share.

I know I didn't get chosen until today but I knew I was going to the Reds because the leader pulled me off to the side and said that I had to wait another year to get chosen. He said he was waiting for another cadet to graduate before he could choose me. I had a feeling that he was waiting for George to graduate and I don't blame him. George is a looker. He has brown hair and gray eyes. He looks like he's been training to be a bodybuilder. Most Agents are pretty strong by default but I'm pretty sure George has a nice little six pack.

He definitely has muscles that I wouldn't mind squeezing during sex. I was snapped out of my thoughts when I heard someone clear their throat.

"Are you just going to stand there and stare at my bed all night or are you going to get settled in and unpack?" George asked.

I felt my face turn red and I shook my head. "Oh, uh sure of course. Let me get unpacked and then I'll probably take a shower because we will probably start our jobs tomorrow."

George nodded. "Yes. We will."

Without another word I unpacked my stuff and took a shower and got settled in for the night. I wanted to try and hold a conversation with George when I got settled in but he was fast asleep when I came out of the bathroom. I got into bed and drifted off to sleep dreaming about one day sleeping with George and having a relationship with him. But for now that would have to wait. I'll get him eventually just not now.
