“Right over this way, Sir Asley.”

Why, Haruhana?

“Sir Asley! Over here, over here!”

Why are even YOU so excited, Lina?

“Sir Asley, hurry up!”

“Let’s go already!”

Why do Tifa and Fuyu insist on clinging to my arms?

“Heehee, they’re all having so much fun~~”

And why was my Familiar doing a so deliberately fake laugh like that?

Honestly, why do I have to manage such a large group just to buy some combs? It doesn’t make any sense!

That incident with the camellia-oiled comb earlier — was it really my fault? Even after scrutinizing it with the objectivity expected of a Philosopher, I couldn’t pinpoint any mistake on my part.

“Master, this is your fault, so you’ll be buying everyone a comb!”

…Or so some loud-mouthed doggo declared, and everyone else chimed in with their agreement. But I still can’t shake the feeling that something isn’t adding up.

Still, now that we’ve come this far, I guess I don’t have much choice but to see it through…

Under Haruhana’s guidance, Lina comes along with a skip in her step, Tifa and Fuyu pull me all the way, and Pochi trails behind, watching us from a distance. We arrive at a small shop with rustic charm. The scent of wood wafts through the air.

As expected of Haruhana — she really knows her stuff. No one has an eye for hidden gems quite like her.

“It’s beautiful…” Lina murmurs as she holds up a comb to the light.

“Fuyu, how about this one?”

“Wow… it’s so cute.”

Fuyu gazes at a camellia-oiled comb, her eyes dreamy.

“…It’s… nice.”

Tifa’s comment might sound indifferent, but her expression mirrors Fuyu’s, filled with admiration.

While everyone continues to browse, an odd exchange catches my attention. It’s the conversation between Lina and Haruhana.

“Haruhana, I think this one would suit you!”

“Oh my, I actually debated between that one and the one I bought earlier.”

Wait, Haruhana already has a camellia-oiled comb. Why are they talking about buying another?

Hahaha… Seriously? She’s really going to buy it? Uh, girls? Isn’t there somebody you forgot to ask? You know, like my wallet?

…Oh, I get it. It’s EXACTLY because I’m the one who’s going to pay for it. Just look at Pochi — she’s already at the counter, holding my wallet in her mouth.

…Wait. The total doesn’t seem right.

Why do four combs cost twenty thousand gold? Is it because of the fluctuating market prices? The traditional craftsmanship? The war? Or maybe all of the above?

“Sir Asley, thank you so much♪”

Damn… Your smile is so beautiful, Haruhana!

“I’ll treasure this, Sir Asley!”

You’re as bright as the sun, Lina!

“I’ll carry it with me always!”

Well, just look at Tifa, holding that comb all precious-like…

“A gift from Sir Asley…”

A comb is meant for fixing your hair, Fuyu, not for snuggling.

“Master! Now my fur will be perfect!”

Damn it, doggo…! You bought one too, didn’t you!?

Suppressing the inexplicable frustration rising within me, I let Lina and Haruhana take me by the hands as we head back.

Tifa and Fuyu dragged my arms on the way here, and on the way back, these two are doing it instead… Are they on some kind of rotation system?

…By the way, I noticed Irene’s arcane energy signature near that shop earlier. Did she have some business nearby?

Well, never mind that. I need to teach them the Ultimate Limit today.

Another busy day for the magic classroom’s Head Professor. Time to get to work!
