Chapter 79
Issei groggily woke up to the blaring of his alarm clock. He was still exhausted from everything that had transpired the day before.
During the battle against the terrorists, a sudden immense pressure had frozen them all in place momentarily. And just as they regained their freedom, they were unceremoniously expelled by the faction leaders.
Despite his desire to offer his assistance, Issei was ruthlessly denied, even by Draig, which stung the most.
Reluctantly, he and his friends teleported away, finding themselves in the familiar surroundings of the place where Rias and Sona had originally resided in Kouh. According to Rias, this location could withstand an attack from a low ultimate class devil.
Before they could catch their breath, Vali launched an unexpected attack, revealing his affiliation with the Khaos Brigade. Taunting Issei, he threatened to kill everyone present, goading Issei into a fight.
Enraged by Vali's betrayal and threats, Issei accepted the challenge, despite being without his Balance Breaker. Initially at a disadvantage, Issei fought fiercely, his determination fueling his every move. In the heat of battle, a surge of power surged through him, awakening his Balance Breaker and leveling the playing field. Now on equal terms, the clash between the two rivals intensified as they battled with all their might.
In a stroke of luck, Issei managed to claim victory by absorbing a crushed jewel from Vali's armor. This unprecedented act shocked both Vali and Albion, marking the first time anyone had attempted to fuse two sacred gears.
Before their confrontation could escalate further, their battle was interrupted by an unexpected arrival. Introducing himself as the current Monkey King Bikou, he claimed to be a member of Team Vali from the Khaos Brigade. With Vali departing alongside Bikou, the exhausted group retreated into the mansion, too drained to do anything else.
Hours later, Grafia, Sirzechs, and Serafall arrived, confirming their safety before dispersing.
Issei and Asia returned home alone, Rias having been requested to stay by Sirzechs. Collapsing onto his bed, Issei drifted into dreamland, too fatigued for Draig to initiate their usual training session.
Even though he was still sleepy, Issei reluctantly dragged himself out of bed. Hunger gnawed at him; he hadn't eaten dinner the night before. Donning shorts and a shirt, he made his way out of the house, coincidentally encountering Asia as she emerged from her room next door.
Clad in her pajamas, Asia greeted Issei with a smile. "Good morning, Issei-kun. I hope you got a good sleep."
Returning her smile, Issei replied, "Yeah, a good night's sleep made me good as new."
"That's great, but it's too bad my Sacred Gear couldn’t heal your fatigue. If it were possible, I would be able to help everyone a bit more," Asia said with a hint of sadness. As a healer, she felt frustrated at not being able to contribute more during the battles.
"Haha, don’t worry too much, Asia. You're already a great help to the team. You don’t know how valuable it is to have a healer nearby when you're badly injured," Issei said, trying to cheer Asia up. Although he said this on the spot, it was his honest opinion. As someone who got injured easily, he knew firsthand how much Asia's healing abilities were worth.
And, he couldn't help but add in his thoughts, ‘And it just so happens she always squeezes me with her breasts when she's healing me,’ with a depraved smile.
"Issei, what were you thinking?" Asia asked with an innocent expression, causing him to freeze suddenly.
"Haha, it’s nothing, just thinking about how much trouble I'd be in if I didn’t have you to help me," Issei hastily said, attempting to change the subject.
“ Why don’t we head downstairs to eat something , I’m starving “ issei said as he held Asia’s hand.
Asia noded although she was clueless on why Issei was in such a hurry. ‘ Maybe he is very hungry ’ she thought innocently.
Coming downstairs, Issei saw his mother was still in the kitchen cooking. His dad was reading the newspaper while sipping his coffee. The first to notice their arrival was Issei’s dad.
He looked at the two of them and said with a smile, “ Good morning you two, breakfast should be ready in a few minutes. Why don’t you take a seat? “
“ It’s okay uncle, I will go and help aunty “ Asia said with a smile as she went towards the kitchen to help out Issei’s mom.
“ Sigh what a great child , issei you learn a thing or two from Asia remember. Look how wonderful she is to even go help your mother to prepare breakfast “ isse’s father said as he admonished Issei like how an asian parent would.
Facing his father’s acucation Issei didn’t know whether to laugh or cry. He was happy that Asia is being praised but it seems Asia had become his parents daughter while he became the outsider.
After a while, breakfast was served, and the family gathered to enjoy a meal together. During the meal, they engaged in light conversation, discussing their plans for the day and sharing stories about their lives.
Issei and Asia carefully avoided mentioning anything related to the supernatural world in front of their parents. After all, ignorance is a blessing, and they didn't want to worry their family with the complexities of their otherworldly adventures.
As the family enjoyed their harmonious meal, Issei's phone suddenly rang, interrupting the tranquility. Seeing it was Roxanne calling, Issei answered with a puzzled expression. "Hello?"
"Hey Issei, are you and Asia free tomorrow?" Roxanne's voice came through the phone.
Issei quickly checked with Asia, confirming her availability, before replying, "No, we don’t really have anything planned for tomorrow."
"Perfect, you two come by my house tomorrow evening at about 6 o'clock. I’m celebrating my birthday, so there will be a party at my house," Roxanne announced, surprising Issei a little. If Roxanne was throwing a party, it was bound to be a grand affair. That girl had no concept of self-restraint.
"Is there a dress code or something?" Issei asked, excitement bubbling within him. Despite Roxanne's extravagant parties, they were always enjoyable.
"No, just come in casual clothes. Anyway, see you at the party. Tell uncle and aunty that I will visit them soon," Roxanne said before abruptly ending the call.
Issei excitedly relayed the news to Asia and his parents. Asia's eyes sparkled at the mention of a party, her excitement palpable.
"Yeah, my first time going to a party, but I don’t have any clothes to wear," Asia exclaimed, her voice tinged with sadness as she remembered her limited wardrobe consisting only of her school uniform and nun outfit.
Upon hearing Asia's dilemma, Issei's mother's eyes gleamed with determination. "Asia dear, get ready soon. We are going shopping. You too, Issei. We should be able to grab a gift for Roxanne while we're at it," she declared.
Issei sighed and nodded, knowing full well that he would be roped into carrying their shopping bags. "Well, at least Asia is happy," he thought to himself, finding solace in Asia's excitement.
