Chapter 75
*BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!*
A huge explosion rocked the scene as the monster's body, on the verge of total annihilation, erupted. In its last desperate struggle, it overloaded the demonic runes within, causing the explosion that was supposed to happen minutes later to occur immediately.
Although the explosion was devastating, fortunately, no one suffered any major damage. Thanks to Roxaane's earlier warning, they had managed to take cover just in time. However, despite their precautions, the sheer magnitude of the explosion left most of them shaken to the core.
As they reflected on their fortunate escape, the realization dawned on them: had they been caught up in that explosion, serious injury or even death would have been a very real possibility. Such was the terrifying power of the blast.
As the others let out a collective sigh of relief, thankful they narrowly dodged disaster, Azrael wasted no time. She hurried toward the explosion's center, her usually cool demeanor replaced with a worried expression.
A mother can't be calm when her daughter is caught up in such a terrifying explosion, after all. So Azrael wasted no time in rushing to check on her daughter's condition.
Soon, she spotted a colossal crater in the ground where the monster had been standing. Using her senses, she detected someone's life signal at the bottom of the crater. Without hesitation, she leaped into the depths.
Reaching the bottom, she found her daughter kneeling, covered in blood. If not for the two swords she had stabbed into the ground for support, she would have collapsed onto the floor already.
"Roxanne!" Azrael shouted, increasing her speed. She didn't pause to wonder whether anyone heard her voice; her daughter's life was more important than any secret.
Hearing her voice, Roxanne, barely conscious, looked at her mother. She coughed a little before speaking. "Mother, calm down and keep your voice down. I won't be defeated just by this," she managed to say weakly.
"How the hell can I calm down after seeing you like this? Wait, we'll talk about this later. For now, we need to get you healed," Azrael scolded, her voice laced with concern, as she tried to lift Roxanne to carry her to the surface.
"Cough... Mother, although I may look like this, I am fine. These are only flesh wounds. None of my vitals were injured," Roxanne tried to explain to her mother between coughs.
But Azrael heard none of it as she tried to lift her. Feeling helpless Roxanne did the only thing she could do to calm her mother down. She used most of her strength to envelope Azrael in a tight hug to immobilise her.
Feeling her movements being restricted, Azrael finally snapped back to her senses. She shouted to her daughter to let go of her. But Roxanne held her ground, refusing to let Azrael move. After a while Azrael finally calmed down.
Her mind then began to analyse the situation more thoroughly. Due to her hurry she forgot about Roxanne’s ability to heal herself. She then questioned herself about the reason why her daughter didn't heal herself yet.
As she pondered this, a crucial detail finally dawned on her. The blood on Roxanne's body was not her own. Little known to many, Roxanne's blood actually had a faint golden hue, a rare and extraordinary trait she acquired after unlocking her angel bloodline to perfection. But the blood on her body only had the usual red color with a bit of blackness to it.
"Are you finally calmed down, mother?" Roxanne asked softly, sensing Azrael's resistance fade.
"How many are there?" Azrael asked, not immediately answering Roxanne's question. She had many other concerns. After seeing her daughter manipulate her blood, she began to realize a crucial point—they were being spied on, and none of them had noticed a thing.
With a wry smile, Roxanne answered, "So you finally realized, huh? Well, out of the four, three perished due to the explosion. The remaining one is barely clinging to life but still here. I'm deceiving his vision with my illusions."
Azrael sighed as she realised her daughter had everything under control. With a wry smile she said, “ I’m sorry sweety. I almost ruined your plan “
Roxanne smiled as she said, “ Don’t worry about it mom. I really can’t blame you for worrying about me “
“ So what should I do now? Do you want me to bring you back to the surface? “ Azrael asked.
“ No, that wouldn’t be necessary. Soon my team will come down with a phoenix tear. Mother just needs to act as if you were trying to keep me conscious. “Roxanne said as she let go of Azrael. She then went back to her previous pose of kneeling on the ground while using her swords for support.
And true to her words the next moment numerous black shadowy figures came down. They were the Shadow garden girls led by Artoria and Morgana. Without a second delay they surrounded Roxanne. Morgana came near and checked her situation before quickly taking a phoenix tear from her pouch. And without any ceremony she forcibly poured the contents into Roxann’s mouth.
‘ This girl sure is asking for a beating ‘Roxanne thought while dangerously glaring at Morgana.
Morgana just smirked at her. This further fueled Roxanne's anger. But even so she didn’t do anything to Morgana for now. Revenge tastes sweet when it is taken at the right time.
Although Morgana felt chills running down her spine seeing Roxanne's angry eyes she didn't regret her decision. As one would say when you get a chance grab it even if you will be fucked after. So she did just that. This is her small petty revenge for making her babysit.
Artoria and Azrael who saw all this just sighed internally at their childishness. Both these girls have always been at each other's throats for the smallest details.
Since they don't have any malicious intent none of the Shadow Garden paid much attention to it at first. But these two have been doing things like this for more than 4 years.
This all started with Roxanne pulling a small prank on Morgana. The prank was just a small harmless prank that anyone would ignore. But Morgana with her vengeful nature went and had her revenge. Facing the retaliation Roxanne's competitive nature ignited and she too retaliated. This caused a chained reaction marking the start of this war.
