Chapter 23.
Max is currently enjoying his coffee while chatting with 3 young men.
Two blonde with a somewhat similar appearance, apparently being siblings, Sam and Tom.
The third is a slightly younger, black-haired, brown-eyed young man named Jamie.
"you two can't you stop haggling, 5k is the lowest I can do, take it or leave it. "
The siblings gave Jamie an angry glare.
"Jamie, do you think we are fools?, 5k credit for a white venom potion, it's only worth a little over 3k".
Jamie gave them a blank look, not even responding.
He is a black market middleman, catering only to criminals and those wishing to avoid government attention; normal individuals would not engage with him.
Since the two came to him, it means they can't buy it from normal channels.
The siblings sighed and handed the money.
Jamie smiled, "you'd get it next station stop".
Jamie was just a middleman and didn't have a stock of his own, he spend most of his time on the train for his job, and the siblings knew that.
They stood up to leave without paying Jamie much attention, but before going, they exchanged smiles with Max and spoke politely.
"brother Max, we will be on our way. Next stop is our destination, so farewell "
Max smiled at the siblings.
"goodbye, and be careful, you two, if you are in front of a dead end, then remember, in this world even criminals are welcome to join the government if they are superhuman".
He didn't care much about their troubles. Even so, in these three young men, he saw his youthful self from Earth, especially Jamie.
Giving them some advice is within his tolerance, especially that, over the past 5 days, he used this bunch to test the limit and effect of his passive skill.
The siblings nodded solemnly and left. They had the feeling Max somehow knew their situation, but still they didn't act against him. They only had respect and fear towards this Max.
.....
"big brother Max, you can't make friends with people like them, you'd get in trouble for nothing."
Max just shrugged. He didn't plan to do so anyway, "by the way Jamie, show me a list of your goods, maybe I'd buy something".
Jamie slapped his chest and handed Max his phone. "Big brother, pick anything I'd give you the best discount".
Max smiled and looked at the long list on the phone. After scrolling a bit, he just sent a copy to his laptop to browse it slowly later.
Handing the phone back, Max just kept chatting with Jamie.
Lucy didn't like other humans for some reason. She just used Max's head as a seat while eating her seeds.
....
Soon the train came to a stop.
Max watched as the siblings got their item from Jamie and left.
Looking at Jamie, Max couldn't help but ask.
"do you plan to stay in this business for a lifetime? "
Jamie went silent for a moment.
"Sigh.!. Big brother, I know my situation, unless I get lucky and become a superhuman before I reach 20, then this is my life's work ".
"then I wish you good luck."
Max had a good eye for people, and Jamie had the potential to reach high places, at least mentality wise.
If he started a gang or something, then Jamie would be a good right hand, but Max didn't plan to start a power, thus he had no plans to help Jamie.
No matter how much he thinks about it, starting a power is a losing deal.
With his simulator, it's better to invest his time to try to make a pet army 100% loyal and trustworthy, having endless potential using his simulator.
Although there is a limit on the pet contracts he can maintain. There should be ways to go around it.
If he had some system related to kingdom building and such, then max would do it without hesitation, but for him now, starting a power is like letting others take advantage of him.
If he needs high-level resources then Rob them, if he needs lower level resources in huge amount or something like that he already has a plan for that, Lucy would be responsible for it, but that's a future matter.
For now, Max planned to go to his room and read the list of goods carefully. Suddenly, Max noticed a new passenger.
Short black hair, blood-red eyes, overall Gothic clothing style.
Max's gaze was directed at her chest, or to be more precise, he locked his gaze on a red gem necklace.
Greed flashed in Max's eyes, but he averted his gaze quickly, chatting with Jamie.
Lucy felt Max's change immediately and gazed at the woman curiously.
The woman seems to have felt something and looked in Max's direction.
But looking at the pet that locked its gaze on her chest, her mouth twitched. That fairy is clearly looking at her chest, not at the necklace.
She felt funny, ' aren't you a female fairy?, what are you looking at? '
Shaking her head, she just left, having too much on her mind to care about some weird pet.
.....
Looking at her back, Max smiled.
as the owner of the pet, that woman completely ignored him.
"lawful faction?, huh"
Of course, in a normal situation, the woman should've regarded Max, but his passive is quite overpowered.
Max left to his room silently, unable to shake the Greed in his heart.
