Chapter 5: Chapter 5: A Main Quest
AN: Want to add that I'll probably fix any mistakes after releasing chapter 10. I just want to have a foundation first before doing any of that.
----
Homeroom and class started, and it was as if what I had just done to Itsuki had never happened. Thirty minutes passed, and I was kind of taking notes while also thinking about other stuff—plans for the future, plans for the day, and all the usual things.
[Main Quest!]
Huh?
[Now that you are fully adjusted to life in this world, a Main Quest has been issued!]
Oh! Oh!
[Main Quest]
[Quest: Get a girlfriend(s) and make $25,000 through your own efforts (meaning not from the system).]
[Duration: Until the start of sophomore year.]
[Note: Yes, you can use money from the system to accomplish task 2, but understand the difficulty will multiply by x2, so you'll need to make $50,000. Additionally, for the girlfriend(s), it's not a matter of quantity but a matter of connection. So be aware that if you intend to have a "harem," you'll have to pay the price that comes with it.]
The $50,000, since I'll definitely be using the system's money, shouldn't be as hard as it made it out to be. I just need to use my brain and be on the lookout! As for the girlfriend—or, as it put it, "girlfriend(s)"—task, that will be quite difficult. I had a lot to improve about myself before I could even think about pursuing that task.
"Hah~" I couldn't help but sigh, but I couldn't deny that this life was much more enjoyable. Sure, I liked my last world, but this felt more... like life? Yeah, that's close enough!
Ring~!
The first class of the day finished, and pretty much everything continued the same until our last class, which was P.E.! I enjoyed P.E. much more than sitting in a classroom, and I know I'm not the only one. Although, I can't deny that hanging out in class with friends wasn't bad either.
"Let's go, Amane! I hope we play something today instead of running!" Itsuki knocked me out of my daze. I had gotten a little too focused on class, surprisingly. I didn't hate school, but I never thought I'd actually start paying attention!
Our class traveled to the gym, separated, and dressed in standard P.E. uniforms. The girls were obviously separate from the boys to ensure that no unsavory things happened.
"Amane, it's basketball today! Gonna try this time?" Itsuki greeted me as I walked out after changing.
I thought for a moment. "Sure, I wouldn't mind putting in a bit more effort."
"Haha~ It's not like you could beat me if you tried. Have you seen your body?"
"Bastard."
"It's the facts, bro."
"I'll show you..."
"My, so scary!"
[Side Quest: Dunk on Itsuki]
[Rewards: Relationship improvement with Itsuki and Mahiru, Confidence skill level up, and a slight general opinion shift.]
Why Mahiru? I looked around, and it didn't take long to find her. P.E. was a shared class among all the first years, just separated between blocks. For example, Classes A and B shared the gym, hence me and Mahiru being in the gym at the same time.
Anyway, her long blonde hair and caramel eyes were just too striking to miss. She really is an extremely beautiful girl. I couldn't name many that come close in first year or, heck, even the whole school!
The real question is why my relationship would improve with her? Speaking of relationships...
I whispered, "Relationships."
[Relationships]
Shuuto Fujimiya: Tier 5 (max) (dad)
Shihoko Fujimiya: Tier 5 (max) (mom)
Itsuki Akazawa: Tier 3 (100/250)
Shizuka Hiratsuka: Tier 2 (30/50)
Nishimiya Shōko: Tier 2 (15/50)
Mahiru Shiina: Tier 1 (9/10)
I forgot about his mom and dad; that actually makes me feel a little bad. I liked them so much in the novel. I can understand Itsuki and Shizuka, even Shōko, but Mahiru... Why is she even present? Sure, I joked around with her and even teased her, but I don't think that should qualify. Unless Shōko told her something? Ah, girl talk would make sense.
Nodding my head, I put it to the back of my mind and got in line for teams. There were two team captains: the smug, slightly annoying but still my friend Itsuki, and the most popular dude in the whole first year, Kadowaki Yūta. He had short and tidy brown hair, dark brown eyes, and other good-looking features. Oh, and he was quite tall but still shorter than me.
"Okay! That's everyone. Team captains, go ahead," our coach instructed.
Yūta went first. "Fujimiya-san."
What? First?!
Confusion cleared my brain of any thoughts, but I still walked forward to stand near Yūta. I just looked at him weirdly, and he matched my look with a strange smile. Itsuki must have done something!
Itsuki followed up. "Irish-san, I guess. You're most like Amane anyway!"
Dude… why would he say that? That was really uncalled for.
Nobody reacted, and the choosing continued as normal. At some point, I zoned out, but soon enough, each side harbored enough people for a proper game.
"Alright! Let's do this, guys. I gotta show Amane who's boss!"
"Yeah!!!" Itsuki's team got riled up. Yūta matched his energy and turned towards all of us.
"Come on, guys! Let's put Itsuki in his place! Mainly you, Amane!"
I stared suspiciously. "What did he tell you?"
Yūta shrugged, quipping back with an even more mysterious smile, "Nothing."
"Uh-huh. Hah~ Let's just get this over with."
Itsuki, my friend, you are about to experience a beatdown—a display equivalent to LeBron James—and you asked for it!
