The Old Scholar

Chapter 32: Trip To The Demon World! (Part 1)

One day, as Leilani was busy just doing some paperwork, an Angel of Death materialized into her office. The black feathered wings and white dress matched the pale skin and golden halo floating above the head of the angel as said wings unfurled in all their beauty, thankfully not showering the room in feathers.

"Hmm? Oh. Theodorus, what pleasure to see you again, why are you here?" Leilani asked as she placed her pen on the table and leaned into her chair, looking up at the Angel of Death that looked pretty chill with his hood over his face

{!}

The angel named Theodorus pulled a scroll from the sleeve of his dress and handed it over to Leilani, giving her a small grunt that made her smile as she knew that the angel before her was secretly Armenakis' favorite messenger angel. Opening the scroll it read

[Pretty Good. It's a pleasure to see you too. I have a request for you from the the boss]

"Ah...I see, well, what's the request then?" Leilani asked as she looked up at the angel who handed her another scroll

[There seems to be some trouble brewing in the Demon World. She is asking for you to check it out please]

"Huh...not what I was expecting...is there something going on that has prevented her from doing so herself?" The Dean asked, receiving another scroll

[I do not know the details. But, the boss said she and the rest are going to be busy for the next few days. Something about a "Breach in the Snow Globe" or something like that. I do not understand either]

"oH...Oh that is something they should take care of then...right, I will be heading down there soon. I will just finish today's work before I head out. That alright with you?" Leilani asked the angel as she flashed a smile at him

Theodorus nodded as he gave her a pair of thumbs up and then flapped his wings before turning into dust and disappearing from sight, with all of the dust sinking to the floor and then out of existence.

"Well, since they are all too busy. No reason to complain. Let's just see what's happening then" Leilani mumbled to herself as she began finishing up the pile of work before her

She smiled to herself as she realized it had been a long while since she ventured into the Demon World. It was a world that was on another plain per se, it still looked the same as the overworld, with the same atmosphere, color of the world, etc, not like the stark red that Leilani had envisioned due to her exposure to Manga and Anime from her old world. This plain had six continents with kingdoms and empires on each continent. Each continent was represented by a Demon Lord who was chosen due to their immense strength of physical and magical abilities and these Demon Lords represented ruling monarchs of the numerous nations under their protection. They formed the Demon Lord Council which usually kept the peace between the 6 continents, sure war would erupt from time to time between a continent or two but as Demons, fighting and war were part of their culture so no one really cared about it unless it was something involving all 6 continents, removing that last situation as an exemption. For the Demons, it didn't really matter as long as there was a good fight at the end of it all. Plus, out of the 6, 5 of them had kingdoms and nations that sent their children to Imperia, so it was a good portion of Imperia's income.

At the end of the day, Leilani stretched her muscles before straightening up her outfit and then teleporting out of the office and into a teleporter pad in the demon world, her sudden appearance shocking a lot of the demons who were not expecting a human like her from the overworld just materializing out of nowhere and without the proper paperwork to boot, with the demon guards already on the move and pointing their weapons up at her.

"Put them down, I have the paperwork right here" Leilani said as she materialized a folder of paperwork in her right hand before handing it over to one of the guards

The guard took the paperwork over to the nearby demon clerk manning the teleportation entry booth, the demon clerk scanned her folder with a magic crystal used to detect false information and after scanning through all the necessary documents, it flashed green.

"She's clear. She has an all-access pass with no restrictions. She has a Special Royal Pass as well, let her go on her way" The demon clerk instructed as he handed the documents back to one of the guards who brought it back to Leilani

"Apologies Ma'am. Do forgive our increased security. Can't be too sure these days" The guard said as she handed it back to Leilani

"Hmmm? How so?" Leilani asked as the documents returned to her item box

"Ah, you are not from around here so it's fine if you do not know yet. Please, let me explain over here where it is more private" The guard instructed as she led Leilani to a small siding near the teleportation pad out of earshot

"Well, Ma'am. It seems that the Demon Continents are about to go to war" The guard began

"Say what now?" Leilani asked, a bit shocked at this news

"It is true Ma'am. The continents are apparently about to go to war last I heard from my sister who is second in command to Demon Lord Tirius" The guard stated

"Hmmm, I see...well, that's why I am here anyway. What's your name guardsmen?"

"Oh uh...Captain Rochelle Luckner Ma'am" The demon guard answered as she stood at attention

"Ok Captain Luckner, I will keep your words in mind. Don't worry, no one will be going to war" Leilani told her as she patted the young lass on her shoulder then on her head

{!}

Leilani then teleported out of sight, leaving the captain stunned as she looked around and could not find any trace of her magic nearby, her eyes wide as she did not expect such a thing to happen

"I wonder who she was...amazing" She mumbled before she returned to work.

.........................................................................................................................................................................................................................................

Materializing in the dense clouds above Destiny Island, the main island that was home to the Council Palace where the Demon Lords would meet, she saw a coalition of demon soldiers dressed in black suits of armor and waving banners of black and red on one side of the island fighting a massive army of demons and humans wearing armor of blue and white with a banner with the same color on the other side trying to secure the entire place, with spells being fired all over and the cries of battle being drowned out by the sounds of explosions and the clashing of metal.

"The fuck is going on here?" She mumbled to herself as she landed in the middle of the warzone

All around her, demons were fighting one another and humans. All of the demons who saw her felt the instinctive urge to not attack her, while the humans were not so lucky as a few of them tried to charge her down before she dodged and then backhanded them so hard they turned to red paste, a sight of which sent shivers down the spines of all who witnessed it. After a few more bodies were turned to splatters of blood, Leilani let out an annoyed growl before pumping her fist into the air.

{!}

KRAKOOOOM!

What came out of Leilani's fist was a massive beam of crimson light that was followed by an ear-shattering roar that forced all the demons across the island to fall to their knees and stop fighting. Many of them turned their eyes to the sky and saw that the massive formation of clouds in the sky that prevented the battlefield from being covered in sunlight was now gone entirely, allowing the rays of the afternoon sun to pour onto the battlefield. The soldiers who were closest to Leilani, those who were not killed outright by the blast of the shockwave that followed her discharging the beam, all fell on their knees or backed away, their bodies shaking with fear and terror as they all gazed upon her.

Leilani looked to her left at the human and demon army looking her down, tilting her head once before returning it to its original position. Some immediately understood her gesture and began taking a few steps back to clear the way, and when she shifted her head to the right at the coalition army of demons, they did not need to see the gesture to do the same, neither side willing to disobey out of fear of being erased from existence.

"There will be no fighting for as long I am here. Do you understand that?!" She shouted as she glanced at the two sides, seeing demon and human soldiers nodding as they kept their distance from her

"Good. Now, where are the Demon Lords?" She asked both sides

"Inside the hall...Ma'am" A young demon soldier from the coalition spoke up with a nervous tone that matched his utterly scared expression

"Mhmm. Thank you, heed my words, or else I will send you to a place even worse than hell" She stated as she began walking towards the massive hall at the center of the island which was placed on a massive hill in the center of the island

As she walked towards the hall, she could see the expressions and eyes of the soldiers from both sides following her as she passed them by. Most were expressions of fear and terror, some were of curiosity and fewer still were those of anger at her audacity to order them around. She saw one of them looking at her with contempt and she decided to stop, turning her gaze to the human soldier who was wearing a very recognizable set of robes that she recalls were worn by a certain disgraced order called the Order of Sigismund. A smirk hiding underneath her poker face as she locked eyes with him

"Got a problem with me?" She asked with a raised eyebrow

Her deep and serious tone scared the man shitless as he quickly shook his head and then tried to back away and hide behind some other demons and soldiers, but suddenly, the young man was pulled by his own shadow, hitting the floor before being dragged before Leilani who looked down at him with an expression that turned him pale with fear. He tried to do something but soon found that his own shadow soon sprouted limbs that restricted his own and then held him up into the air upside down, making him scream in agony as the shadowy limbs pulled on his own and he could feel them being torn apart inside. As he screamed, below him, the shadow got larger and several shadowy heads with rows of razor-sharp teeth began picking at him, tearing his arms first then his legs then his upper torso then the rest, with the last bits of flesh being consumed by all of the heads that then returned to the shadow of Leilani who was now flashing a very satisfied smile on her face.

"Anyone else have a problem with me?" She asked as she looked at both sides, seeing them shaking their heads at her question

"Good. If you did, you are next" She added before she continued on her way forward, seeing many of the soldiers on both sides stepping further back just to not be close to her

Arriving at the staircase that led up to the Council Hall, she saw that the demons and humans who were fighting on the staircase had already moved out of her way, conjuring platforms made from mana to stand from and watch as she ascended the staircase normally. These were not the typical rank-and-file soldiers from their more intricately designed armor sets and Leilani assumed they might be some proper knights or something akin to that category. She playfully whistled a tune as she continued walking up, noticing that the tune made some of the knights shudder slightly as she passed them, much to her amusement. She even scared a group of demons and humans as she shouted at them and looked like she was about to pounce on them, scaring a human knight wearing a badge of the Order of Sigismund off the platform and falling to his death on the rocky ground below, leaving Leilani laughing at the sight, her laugh making everyone else even more scared and nervous as she continued on her merry way.

Reaching the outside walls of the Council Hall, she noticed that they were blown apart, with the debris going inward, suggesting that they were attacked from the outside rather than from the inside. There were also human and demon soldiers here but they were also with knights from both sides and once they saw her, all of them backed away as they received communications from the soldiers on the island beaches and other battlegrounds grounds that Leilani had passed through earlier. All but one group decided not to fuck around and find out and surprise, surprise, it was from the side of the army of humans and demons. A group of 18 soldiers all dressed in heavy and thick plate armor stood in front of her while the rest backed away like they were told, something that left Leilani kind of annoyed as she looked at them and stopped in her tracks.

"This is as far as you go, interloper! I, Lord Abracus of the Order of Sigismund! Scholar of the Kingdom of Nafordale hereby order you to stand down and leave this place or else you will suffer my wrath!" The lead knight said as he leveled his broad sword at Leilani who simply looked uninterested and unimpressed at what he was saying

"No" She promptly replied, yawning even and rolling her eyes as she crossed her arms and looked even more annoyed than usual

"What?!" Lord Abracus remarked, shock in his voice

"I said No. Now you and your circus clowns move aside or I will walk through all of you, even if you are going to be corpses"

"What a bold thing to say for a lady such as yourself. You are a fool of a woman if you continue to defy us!" Lord Abracus shouted back, trying to regain his composure

"Hays why am I always given the idiots!" Leilani cursed in her native tongue as she pinched her forehead and then shook her head in annoyance

"HmpH! Muttering such incantations will not save you bitch!" Abracus added, a cocky smile hidden under his helmet

"Excuse me? Ok fine, fuck it. If you want me dead, come and do it yourself fucker! I am right here!" Leilani shouted in anger as she gestured with open arms at her defenseless self

"Hmph! Just go home you bitch, not worth my time" Lord Abracus stated as he turned away from Leilani

{!}

Leilani took this though as she appeared behind him so fast that everyone was caught off guard by her suddenly gripping him by the back of his neck and holding him up and then shattering his neck in one fell swoop. Before his body even hit the floor, she quickly moved around the other 17 knights before they could react and landed single punches that had enough power to turn them into red past and kill them in one shot. Once she stopped moving, all of the bodies struck the cold, debris-filled ground, leaving both sides wondering what the fuck just happened. But once everyone saw Leilani's expression, they did not dare to ask as all they could see now was pure burning rage and hatred, with eyes that looked like they could kill them if she just glanced their way.

"Anyone else?!" She shouted as she scanned both sides, particularly the demon and human army side, her head snapping their way faster than the demon coalition side, with her gaze making a lot of them flinch and unconsciously step back

"Ummm...Excuse me...Ma'am" A voice came from the coalition knights, causing Leilani to slowly turn her head that way, her hateful gaze looking at a young demon knight who was raising her hand

Leilani walked over to the knight and she towered over her once she was right next to her, with the knight shrinking and leaning back as the woman before her crept closer

"What is it?" Leilani asked, her voice on the verge of just shouting a the demon knight

"Is there anything we can help you with?" The young demon knight asked, her eyes beginning to tear up as she shook in fright

"Hmmm...take me to the Council Chamber then" Leilani ordered

"Of course, if you would follow me" The demon knight nodded as she quickly began leading Leilani into the building, with the comrades of the demon knight praying for her soul and thanking her for her sacrifice.

Inside the building proper, Leilani saw more knights and soldiers stepping out of their way as they continued towards the Council Chamber, she didn't need to ask these people what was going on as she was soon going to find out herself, and considering that there were humans here, she could tell it was something big. The halls of the building were covered in blood and there were corpses strewn about, with some embedded into the walls and ceiling of the place. They soon arrived at a large set of double doors that led into the Council Chamber proper and the young demon knight, who was already at the end of her rope, turned to Leilani and tried to muster up her courage.

"He...Here is the Council Chamber, if you will excuse me" She stated before running the fuck out of there, not intending to stick around and find out what was about to go down, deciding to leave it to the Demon Lords to figure shit out.

Once the young knight was out of sight, Leilani looked upon the double doors and took a deep breath as she readied herself, her foot itching to kick down the door with full force.

"Right. Let's see what's going on here!"
