The Old Scholar

Chapter 29: The Rage Of The Tower Master (Part 1)

Teleporting back into her granddaughter's room on the top of the tower, Leilani saw her beloved and her granddaughter enjoying themselves as they chatted with one another and enjoyed some food and drinks.

"Ah! You're back Grandmother!" Prisma said as she got to her feet and brought out another chair for her to sit in while also placing down another platter of drinks and meat for them to eat

"Yes I am. Good to see you both have already gotten to know each other better" Leilani remarked as she sat down and poured herself some dessert wine, the crimson liquid sliding easily into the glass before her before she ate a piece of meat next to the glass with a fork

"We were just talking about the rest of us grandchildren, she wishes to meet them all soon, hopefully during that family gathering we were talking about just before we left" The Tower Master stated as she sat down next to her grandmother

"Hmmm...Yeah, the family gathering. I will be honest, although I still have my reservations, I am fine with meeting the rest of your families, extended and all. Just don't let them know we are related until later on in the gathering, I wish to see who these people truly are"

"Of course Grandmother, we will do just that. Brother Horneese has offered his castle this time around for the event to be hosted"

"Isn't that in the Czechanai Kingdom? Hmmm...as the advisor to the royal family...hmmm...aright then, we can host it there" Leilani nodded in agreement

"Yay! Thank you grandmother∼" Prisma stated with a smile as she leaned on her grandmother and began nuzzling her cheeks to her

"Yes yes, hayss, the things I do for you lovely lot" Leilani replied as she rolled her eyes and then gave a warm smile to her beloved granddaughter

'That's Nice' Martha thought as she looked at the two people before her, taking a sip of the wine in her glass. In fact, she was actually quite happy to see this side of Leilani, seeing a woman who loved her family members without pause despite her own reservations. When Leilani looked at her and flashed another smile that struck her heart, a small thought flared up into her mind which made her blush as she took another sip to cover her blushing face. Her reaction caused Leilani to chuckle as she kissed Prisma on the cheek and then gave her head pats.  They then spent the next two hours just enjoying themselves and the moment of peace and happiness that filled the chamber air, with Leilani herself particularly enjoying this break.

{!}

Just then, a chorus of bells chimed around the chamber and Prisma's cheery demeanor vanished and was replaced by a cautious expression as she heard the bells

"Give me a moment Grandmother" She muttered with a slight growl as she stood up and walked over to a small communication crystal hanging on the wall nearby and then grabbed it and placed it near her ear

"Hello?"

"Tower Master! We have a problem!" A shaky female voice shouted into the crystal

"Calm down and tell me what's happening Scholar Vasa"

"It's the Princesses Royal Guard! They have the tower surrounded and are currently trying to break their way into the place! The adventurers have already been teleported away for their safety as per protocol as well as most of the civilians near the Tower"

"Excuse me? Are you telling me Princess Azanha's guards are trying to break into my house?"

"Yes Tower Master! Their reasoning being that you were the one responsible for the attempt on the life of the Sultan"

"Where is the Sultan now?"

"We don't know, the last we heard was that there was fighting in the Emerald Palace about 30 minutes earlier"

"I see, so that's what is happening. Keep the Scholars on the defensive and ensure the defensive barriers hold. I will be down soon"

"Understood Tower Master"

Placing the magic crystal back on the wall, Prisma took in a deep breath as she tried to soothe the building rage inside of her. She looked back at her grandmother and soon-to-be grandmother-in-law and flashed a smile as she walked back over to them

"There seems to be a situation going on downstairs and uhh I have to attend to it" She stated with a regretful smile

"Oh? What's wrong?" Martha

"Ahh just some adventurers being uppity, no need to concern you both, Just stay here and enjoy the chamber. I have an automated golem that can serve you food and drinks as well as provide you protection while I am gone, just ring this dinner bell to summon it" Prisma answered as she placed a dinner bell on the table

"Oh ok. Thank you" Martha stated with a smile and a nod, Leilani doing the same

"Thank you, if you will excuse me" Prisma stated as she turned and began to walk away from the couple

[Sultan Aman is alive, he, his children except for Princess Azanha and his wives except for concubine Myrtel, and what's left of his guards are making a break for Fort Mehmed on the outside of the city. My associate is there waiting for him. Have fun crushing the coup] Leilani stated via telepathy as Prisma walked away

{Thank you Grandmother}

[Mhm. Happy Hunting]

With a small smile, Prisma teleported out of the chamber

Appearing in the lobby of the Tower, Prisma saw her scholars already at arms and awaiting her command. They were all hunkered down behind barricades that popped out of the ground and were made of sturdy sandstone and reinforced with magical enchantments to ward off incoming attacking spells. The sounds of battering rams smashing against the front gate and the secret rear gate filled the air with their unpleasant noise and after scanning her surroundings, Prisma let out a small sigh as a kitsune scholar ran up to her.

"Tower Master. The defenses are holding, I do not know when they shall break, however. The leader of the group was a man from the Order of Sigismund and he told us he was appointed to be the new Tower Master by supposedly crowned Sultana Azanha. He has with him a contingent of the Jade Guard, the Princesses' personal guards, and has surrounded our tower"

"Order of Sigismund? Are you sure it is those idiots Fontana?" Prisma asked with a much more annoyed expression

"Yes, Tower Master. He calls himself Scribe Heron and the "New Tower Master" as he claims to have made it as high as your chamber" Scholar Fontana answered with a nod

"I see...to not only try and seize my home and my family's legacy but to also lie about making it up my tower...Hohoho, if that is how they wish to play. Then I shall let them show us how it is done"  Prisma stated as a smile appeared on her face that failed to reach her eyes

Flicking her wrist, the main iron gate that led into the tower courtyard swung open outwards, smashing the battering ram and crushing those soldiers unfortunate enough to be within its frame when it swung out and smashed them against the sandstone walls. Prisma looked at her scholars and nodded before she walked out to meet the unruly bastards who were banging on her front door. Her 7-foot stature meant she dwarfed and looked down on everyone before her. She looked at the guards who were all dressed in shimmering jade-colored armor with their turbans masking their faces except their eyes, when she locked eyes with these guards, she noticed them shudder as they stepped back out of fear. She even glanced up and saw several guards standing on the rooftops of nearby buildings with mage staves and bows and arrows aimed at her, a small smile gracing her lips as she could see their slight shaking in their hands when they saw she was looking at them.

Finally, there was the man who called himself Scribe Heron, he was at the front of the pack. He was dressed in a greyish-blue set of plate armor and had a rapier holstered at his side. His small mustache and five-o-clock shadow complemented his rugged face and his well-built body and fair skin, his slicked back black hair matched well with his black eyes, and a slimy smile was on his face as he looked up at Prisma, a sort of "hah, look at her" type of attitude exuding from his cocky demeanor.

"Ah, so you have finally come out...Tower Master...Prisma was it?"

"The only ones fit to call me by my name are my family and friends. And you, Scribe Heron, are neither of those things, now get out of here before I will properly defend my home" Prisma growled as she looked down at him, noticing his confidence trying to mask his terrified demeanor

"Ahem. I believe that it is no longer your home" Heron replied as he swallowed his fear

"Oh? And who decided on that?" Prisma asked with a raised eyebrow

"The new ruler of the Sultanate, Her Majesty Sultana Azanha" The Scribe replied, his shaking eyes betraying his stoic gaze

"The Tower bows to no one" The Tower Master stated, the words sent a physical shockwave that rumbled across the ground

"That may have been in the recent past. But things change Prisma, with the new Imperial Orders in place, the Tower has no choice but to fall under the control of a Scribe or Scholar of the Order of Sigismund and the current person on the throne"

{!}

At his words, Prisma began laughing as she held her right hand close to her mouth. Each time she looked down at the little Scribe, she laughed even harder as the pieces of the coup finally clicked into her mind, the hilarity of the situation and the hubris of those before her made it all the more funnier in the mind of the Tower Master. But, unlike Prisma who was cackling like a mad woman, the Jade Guards and Scribe Heron found themselves unnerved by the laughter, the grips on their weapons, and their nerves tingling and shaking as they were not expecting this to happen. Even Scribe Heron was confused, his ego and pride slightly bubbling as he noticed she was laughing harder every time she looked down at him.

"I don't see how losing your home is a laughing matter" Heron stated as he placed his hand on the hilt of his rapier, slightly shaking as the feeling of uneasiness grew

"That is because everything is now in place. I was confused at first but now I fully understand. The bitch Azanha overthrows the current government with the backing of your order and I assume other national powers and nobles. In return for backing her, she gives you the supposed  "authority" to become the new Tower Master and both parties get to reap the benefits of unlocking the many secrets of knowledge the Tower has in store. More importantly, it gives the Order of Sigismund some actual fucking prestige since your order is now a joke" the Tower Master stated, a devilishly amused grin on her face as she looked down at the Scribe who was now sporting a scowl

"I will not take this insult lying down! Tower Master Prisma! By the order of Her Majesty Sultana Azanha of the Sultanate of Ghabir. I ordered you to relinquish control of the Tower of Santomin or else we will storm in there and kill all who stand in our way!" Heron shouted as he unsheathed his rapier and pointed it at Prisma, with the rest of the Jade Guard behind him doing the same

"Hahaha...No"

{!}

Before Heron could do anything, Prisma moved in closer like a blur and backhanded the upper portion of the Scribe into red mist, his blood splattering on the Jade Guards who were all too slow to see what had happened. But all they could see now was only the lower half of the undoubtedly dead Scribe, with some of the guards freaking out as they felt his blood splatter on them. Those guards on the roofs tried to aim and fire their ordinance but were surprised when Prisma suddenly vanished, leaving only a cloud of dust where she stood. They did not need to wait very long as Prisma and several of her clones appeared behind them and used their immense strength to kill them with single punches, all of them turning into mist due to the punches being uppercuts that struck their torso and had enough power to turn them into said bloody mist. She even teleported to the group attacking the rear gate and dealt with them the same way, using her clones to just punch them into oblivion.

With the rear secured and the ranged attackers dealt with, Prisma appeared before the Jade Guards at the front gate once again, her golden eyes piercing into their souls as she held up her hand, a smile gracing her lips

"Attacking my home and my family is something only monsters do, but you all look like normal people to me...let's fix that shall we?" She stated as she snapped her fingers and the Jade Guards began screaming and flailing on the ground as they transformed into deformed monsters that were grotesque and horrible to look at, all of them crying and groaning in pain as they lost their ability to speak or even think for themselves.

"Well. If she wants to occupy my home and kill my people. I will do the same, knock knock Azanha. I'm coming!"

.........................................................................................................................................................................................................................................

Currently outside the capital city of Akhru, riding on horseback and accompanied by a large group of carriages and other horses that were carrying his many wives and children, Sultan Aman IV and his group were making a break for the nearby Fort Mehmed that was hopefully filled with loyal soldiers not yet swayed by his bastard daughter's words and promises. Needless to say, Aman was fucking blindsided by this entire ordeal. He did not expect this shit to go down, he believed he had shown love for each and every one of his wives and children to ensure that none of this shit happened in the first place, but now that it actually happened and he somehow made it out of the thing alive, he began to question things. But Aman was not stupid, he first needed to get the fuck out of dodge and marshal an army to crush this act of rebellion against him, regardless of the leader of said rebellion being his youngest daughter. He counted himself lucky that the entire family was able to get the fuck out of the Emerald Palace alive and accounted for, albeit at the sacrifice of most of the Sultan Guards who had thrown themselves on the traitors to give them a chance of hightailing it out of the city. He had avoided passing by the Tower as the crowded and congested streets would have gotten innocents hurt and he was not about to use his own people as meat shields for his escape.

"We are almost there Father. Just a few more minutes" His oldest son, Mehmed Habir stated as he rode beside him on his own horse

"I see it now Habir, I can see the fort walls" Aman stated as they got closer and closer to their destination

{!}

"By the Gods" Aman muttered as they neared the fortress, seeing the pristine white walls stained in blood

The sight before them was gruesome as there were bodies of Sultanate soldiers with jade-green bands tied around the right arm littering the place. Some were hanged by the neck and hanging off the side of the walls, other corpses were decapitated, their heads on the wooden pikes and fortifications. Some were also missing limbs, with one body that Aman had seen missing both of her arms, there were even those corpses that no longer had chunks of their body attached to them, being only piles of flesh and armor for example, there was a corpse of a lamia soldier but she was missing her tail and her head, while another soldier was missing the body above his waist, his blood and guts painting the white wall behind him. They stopped at the entrance into the fort which had several bodies hanging upside down from the gate, and below these hanging bodies was a fair-skinned woman with reddish-yellow hair, she was dressed in a beige robe that made her blend with the desert sand and had bloodied arms and hands on her sides, she turned her gaze to Aman IV, her black eyes piercing into his as he got off his horse and walked over to her, his eldest son in front of him with his sword drawn to protect him.

"Father wait!" Another one of his children called from behind, prompting the Sultan to look back at her and flash a smile and a nod as he then returned his gaze to the woman before him

"Are you with her?" Aman asked, his face full of worry

"I am" The woman replied with a nod

"Oh thank the Gods!" The Sultan stated as he fell on his knees, leaving his family and remaining guards confused

"oH uhh, where is she now?" Aman asked as he quickly recomposed himself and stood back up

"My master is enjoying her time with her beloved. She does not wish to be disturbed" The woman answered him

"I understand, I understand" Aman replied with a nod as he walked forward to her

"I am just grateful she has provided support for me. On that note, what is the plan now?" The Sultan asked

"Just wait and see" The woman replied with a smile
