Main Characters
Vim –
Vim is the main male lead of the series.
He is just a hair bit taller than most, but is average in everything else. Average looks, average build, average appearance and voice. The only unique thing about him is that although a non-human, and one of if not the strongest to exist, he doesn't appear to be one at all. He looks entirely human, and doesn't have a single non-human trait.
He's the Societies Protector. And has been since nearly its inception. He's one of the oldest members left. The entirety of the Society relies upon Vim for not just protection but surety. His existence is one of the few things that is a constant for them, something that not even time can defeat or gnaw away.
Vim is extremely overprotective of those he cherishes. He places any and all members of the Society above everything else.
He travels the world going from one Society Location to another, helping and defending those who need him.
Rennalee –
Renn is the main female lead in the series. Her general appearance is that of a young woman, who just left her teens. She has a large pair of non-human cat-like ears upon her head, which she usually hides under a hat.
She also has a long tail, nearly as long as she is tall, which she hides under pants or dresses.
Renn is a predator, she grew up being told she was a jungle cat though she isn't sure which species. Unlike her parents and ancestors, she's more human than not... but she oddly still possesses the strength of her ancestors.
She's the last remaining member of her family line, except possibly an aunt, and she's chosen to venture out into the human world as to find friends and family. She's tired of being alone, and even more so tired of burying the humans she falls in love with.
Upon finding the Non-Human Society her entire world becomes hectic and full of hope. Even amidst the sorrow and despair she still finds her new life wonderful and more important than ever.
She hopes to one day become someone like Vim, the Societies Protector... someone who has not only earned their place into the Society, but has a very important role in it.
Elks
The Elk Family :
Elk – Elk is a large man who spends his days chopping wood. He has a large, ever growing family, and although all of them share in his strength of their non-human bloodline, their only non-human trait is their odd teeth. They're larger than normal.

During the armies defeat, she lost her wings. Stuck to a life on the ground, she lives with her husband and family in a secure forest far from any humans. Although old, and infirm, the fire of war still embers within her.
Windle – An owl just like Lilly. However that is where the similarities end. He is known as a coward by all, and even he will proudly admit it. Although a coward, he's a good man. He and Lilly have several children, but per Lilly's parenting ideals they have been kicked out to go and find their own lives and purposes.
Twin Hills
Fox Family :
Lomi –
A young fox girl. She was originally from another village, one of foxes, but it was attacked by a northern church and burnt to the ground. Vim found her in a well, and escorted her to the Twin Hills. She's joined the fox family there, and is settling into her new life.
Porka –
The mother of many children. She and her husband Bjorn are similar foxes to Lomi, and were even related to her distantly. They willingly and happily adopted Lomi into their family.
Pelka –
The second oldest daughter of Porka. She desires to venture out into the world. To see the sights beyond the endless stalks of wheat she grew up in. Much to her families fear.
Yelma – Youngest daughter of the fox family. Even younger than Lomi. She's super excited to have a new sister.

Trim –
Jabson's nephew. His eventual heir.

Members of the Singing Sister Church :
The Chronicler –
The current leading sister of the Cathedral's religious order. Although not a Saint herself, she has the eyes of a Saint. They're pure white, and glow a little. She's a woman full of mysteries, but Vim trusts her... at least to do what is in the Cathedral's best interest.
Link –
He's a lizard, and fascinated with war and all things related to it. He's also a mountain of a man. Which would be a great and a massive benefit to his affair with war... if he was not such a coward that even his own shadow made him cry.
Jelti –
A bunny. She has a small puff-ball of a tail. She works under the Chronicler, mostly dealing with all the human workers and sisters. She likes to clean.
Hands –
A raccoon with a fascination of all things mechanical. A century ago became absolutely fascinated with clocks.
Randle –
A priest in the Singing Sisters order. He's often giving sermons, or taking confessions.

She and her family don't necessarily belong to the Cathedral's religious order, the Singing Sisters, but they do work alongside them. They spend their days helping the impoverished communities within Telmik, notably at the soup kitchens. She has a strange fascination with Vim, ever since he saved her long ago.
John –
A kind but meek man. Constantly worried his wife will leave him for Vim.

Lellip –
Pram's daughter... but more importantly, Nebl's granddaughter. Unlike her parents, she has not only inherited the love of the forge but has claimed the smithy as her own. She's Neble's proudest apprentice, even though she's always getting in trouble for adding little decorations to the stuff she forges.
Nebl –
A true smith. The head of the monkey family. Although a shorter man, he is imposing. He's forgotten more of smithing and forging than most societies know, and is proud to say he's forgotten very little of what he's learned. Other than his hard work, the only thing he values more is his granddaughter. She helped him keep his passion for the forge alive after tragedy struck.
Lumen
At the Sanctuary outside of Lumen :
The Clothed Woman –
A strange woman covered in white bandages and cloth. Has no real name, though no one knows if she never had one or if she simply abandoned it. She lives alone outside of Lumen, hidden in a great ravine and forest. There's an odd smell about her, though no one's cruel enough to mention it.
Members of the Animalia Guild :
Brandy –
Brandy is an otter. And not afraid to venture into danger for shiny coins. She travels throughout the Society, but Lumen is her playground. She runs the Animalia Guild when there, and leaves it in Gerald's capable hands when not. She's older than most realize, and has a few tricks up her sleeve that even Vim worries about.
Brom –
The main guard of the Societies location in Lumen. He, like his sister Reatti, is a meerkat. He's a relatively handsome young man, but he has a terrible burn scar covering parts of his face and head. He's proud to tell everyone that Vim was the one who trained him.
Reatti –
Reatti is Brom's older sister. Though she acts the younger one. She is also a guard, but pretends she isn't. She's commonly found sitting at the front desk of the Animalia Guild, greeting incomers and directing traffic. Heaven forbid her brother steals her snacks.
Gerald –
The de-facto leader of the Animalia Guild. He's a dove, and many question if he's a man at all thanks to his beauty. Although prettier than even the comeliest women, he's rather feared amongst the merchant circles in Lumen. They love to do business with him, but tremble at the idea of negotiating with him.
Herra –
Herra is an armadillo, and is her families representative in Lumen. She and her family provide the Animalia Guild with gems and other precious jewels. She likes working at the bank, and has taken it over since arriving.
Pierre –
A mouse. Is not related to Montclair, even though people say they look alike. A quiet man that enjoys working at the docks.
Lawrence –
A raven. His long black hair is luscious, and distracts his female co-workers. He runs the auditing department of the Animalia Guild. Turns out he's an older member, and Vim considers him a friend. He hoards alcohol, amongst other things.
Tosh –
Another man who Vim considers a friend. A long time ago he suffered a terrible experience, and then experienced something even worse shortly after. His mind broke because of those terrible moments, and now is a shell of himself. He no longer speaks, and wanders aimlessly the halls of the Animalia Guild. Although mute, and non-responsive, he does work. He's often seen helping out at the depot or warehouse.
Jasna –
A tall, handsome woman. Despises any and all predators. Is always with Liina, but currently Liina is running the docks and this really upsets her.
Liina –
A cat. But not a large cat, and instead a tiny one. She's been hiding from Renn since she smelled her, out of fear. Although unnerved and uneasy around Renn... she doesn't honestly hate her. She's actually a very kind woman, always willing to help someone.
Magdalena –
A tall woman. She's not sure what she is, but she thinks she's some kind of deer. Likes to bake, but is always working in the warehouses and depot. She and Wynn are often together.

Kevin –
Recently took over one of the Societies larger trade-ships. Took the position from the previous captain without much experience, but he's been proving to be a competent sailor and captain. His men like him, those at the Animalia Guild work with him comfortably, and Vim is his hero. An overall good man.
Sofia –
An older woman who came to Lumen not too long ago. She recently lost her last surviving child... and although hasn't broken like Tosh, she's still scarred and troubled. She works in the bank under Herra, and is often happily volunteering to cook for the Society. Merit's friend.
Merit –
A small fish. Although she looks like a child, Merit is actually the oldest member in Lumen... and in fact, one of the oldest members in the Society left alive. She has a vivid history, but nearly no one knows it. She works all over the Society, and is secretly the final line of defense for those in Lumen. She doesn't let Brom know how strong she is though, even though he figured out years ago. She recently befriended Renn.
Lamp –
A human woman that Vim found in a cage on a boat. She and her fellows settled in Lumen. She's a scarred woman, and isn't able to speak the local language, but is well liked and a hard worker. She adores Renn, almost as much as Renn adores her.

She adores Renn, feels uncomfortable around Vim thanks to his lack of scent, and is too curious for her own good.
Wool –
A timid sheep. She, like Fly, joined the Society thru Lumen. She has a large pair of horns on the sides of her head, thus her also joining Fly at the Bell Church. Renn gifted her the bible of the Singing Sisters, and she's been unable to put it down since.
Limb –
A one armed girl. A fellow sister of the singing sisters religious order. She's a half-blood, and is aging quickly... meaning she's more human than not.
Yana –
An older sister of the singing sisters religious order. Supposedly she's so good at board games that no one wants to play with her anymore.
Braid –
A sister of the singing sisters religious order. She's taken up mantle of librarian. The library she caters is the second largest surviving library in not just the Society... but the world. Her and Merit do not get along.
Plumb –
The oldest sister at the Bell Church. So old she is called grandmother by all the other members here, even the elderly ones. She's actually a very wise woman, full of knowledge and kindness... but she smelled something odd about Renn upon meeting her...

Glossary :
The Non-Human Society
The Non-Human Society is a collective of individuals, non-human and human, who support and protect one another. There are only a few thousand members left, and most live solitary lifestyles and only meet occasionally or send letters.
There are a few prominent locations, such as Telmik or Lumen, where many members live and co-exist within human settlements.
The Society has opposing factions and schools of thought within itself, but no matter how much they dissent or disagree, they in the end all work together and support one another. Even in hatred.
Although large, and with many members, the Society is barely a remnant of their past size and strength. In the last era the Society was one of the more prominent organizations, and ruled several nations. Now they have to hide, not just from the humans and their churches but even each other.
Non - Human The term used for a person, or creature, that is not entirely human. Usually has traits of an animal of some kind.
Bloodlines The term for a non-humans ancestry. Usually only brought up when concerned over interbreeding or purity.
Monarch A strange, powerful creature. Little is known about them, as most are now simple legends. They're devastating creatures that can wipe out an entire nation without notice. Some Non-Humans used to worship them as gods.
Monarch's Heart The heart of a Monarch. A strange, usually glowing, orb of crystal.
The Animalia Guild
A guild located in Lumen. Owned by the Society and ran by it, for it.
The Societies Money Press. One of the larger human city locations within the Society, only matched by Tilmek.
Here the Society owns a massive depot, storage warehouses, and one of the finest banks in Lumen.
Gerald, the current leader of the Animalia Guild, is heavily involved in Lumen's politics.
