S2 Chapter 20 - Misadventures At The Mall (2)

“You know them?” Elizabeth asks Sammy.

“They’re Parker Duggar and Quinn Overton,” Sammy growls, “A.K.A. my nemeses.”

Elizabeth takes a second to process what she said and questions, “I’m sorry your what?”

“Oh please Samuel,” Parker teases.

“That’s not my name,” Sammy retorts.

“Eh close enough, but still I’m surprised you consider us to be your nemeses,” Parker laughs, “It would be so funny if it wasn’t so stupid.”

“Well with all the belts you had on I thought you’d have been whipped into shape, ‘fraid that isn’t the case.” Sammy teases.

“I’m making a fashion statement,” Parker says as he flaunts all of the belts he has on his outfit, “Not like you’d know what that is.”

Elizabeth counts the belts Parker has on; two on each arm, three on his torso, one on his waist, and two on each leg.

“Jesus Christ dude how long did that take to put on?” Elizabeth questions as she’s almost impressed by Parker’s outfit if it wasn’t so stupid, “And how do you guys know each other?”

Quinn, not taking her eyes off of her 3DS, answers, “Ran into each other after getting coffee, had a scuffle, now it tends to be on sight if we ever cross one another’s paths”

“Thanks for the trip down memory lane,” Parker says before looking at Sammy, “You ready to go crying back to mommy?”

“Me crying?” Sammy says as she leaps over the small divider between the ice rink and lands next to the two, “You sure you aren’t talking about yourself.”

“Oh please, you want all the smoke,” Parker begins to say as he sends his fist towards Sammy, “SO LET’S SEE IF YOU CAN HANDLE THE FLAMES!”

Though just before the fist can reach her, someone catches it. Someone Elizabeth feared seeing again.

“All right you boy and girls,” Crunch says as he lets go of the fist, “How about you settle this peacefully before I have to kick you all out.”

“Fine,” Parker groans, “I guess there’s one thing we can do.”

In the arcade, several kids are running around having a good time. Near the front of the arcade are a group of five. Sitting atop an arcade cabinet is Crunch Backson where standing on the ground are Parker Duggar, Quinn Overton, Sammy Becken, & Elizabeth Moore.

“The rules are simple, you need to race through 5 of the most popular attractions here,” Crunch explains, “Whoever gets the overall highest score wins while the losers get kicked out of the mall and I’ll have to call their parents to go pick them up.”

“I don’t think that would be necessary,” Parker remarks, “I’m 23.”

Hearing that Sammy begins to laugh, “Imagine being twenty-three and having beef with a child! How pathetic can you be!”

“What did you say!” Parker roars as he tries to fight, but Quinn stops him.

“Seriously dude, you aren’t helping your case,” Quinn remarks.

As the terms are set the group of five makes their way to the first arcade game, ‘whack-a-mole’.

Parker and Sammy are up for this round.

“You might as well text your mommy now,” Parker banters, “because we’re gonna win all of these.”

“Oh yeah? I’ll make you eat those words!” Sammy shouts as the game of whack-a-mole begins.

On the west side of town, a game of Little League is going on in the park’s run-down baseball field. Sitting in the bleachers amongst the other spectators are two members of The Massachusetts Boys; Frankfurt ‘Fall River’ Schulz and the third-in-command 'Cambridge' who is obscured in shadows.

Frankfurt is wearing a black polo shirt, blue jeans, and black tennis shoes while Cambridge is wearing a black bomber jacket over a green t-shirt, light brown cargo pants, and beige high tops.

“I don’t get it,” Fall River says as he watches the game, “Why’s that Duggar kid No. 7 in the whole gang? He should be a complete nobody.”

“Well you should be taking it up with Boston if you want to complain about the rankings,” Cambridge says as he watches the game, “But I can take a guess as to why he’s so high ranked.”

“Well, you mind spilling the beans?”

“What do you think makes someone good when they come up to bat?” Cambridge remarks.

A kid on the field is up to bat, the pitcher sends him the ball and the kid hits it with all his might, sending the ball flying.

“It’s explosiveness, being able to give it your all without much build-up,” Cambridge explains.

However, as the baseball goes flying, it ends up being a foul ball.

“Though just explosive power isn’t enough to make you a great player,” Cambridge continues, “If you want to be truly great then you’re going to need…”

The kid tries again as the baseball is sent his way, and this time when he slams his bat into the ball, the baseball goes flying out of the park, getting him a home run.

“Precision,” Cambridge finishes.

“And how does this relate to Duggar?” Frankfurt grumbles.

“It’s simple, not only is he filled with a potent amount of explosive strength,” Cambridge answers, “But he’s damn precise with it too. I’d be worried for anyone on the receiving end of his attacks.”

Back at the arcade, Sammy, Elizabeth, and even Crunch stand there shocked at the sight that they’re seeing.

The score was 300-20, with Parker winning the whack-a-mole game…except all of the toy moles that he whacked with the foam hammer were hit so hard that they're all scattered across the ground in several tiny little fragments.

“Sorry but I think we’ll have to move on to the next machine,” Parker says in delight, “Though if you wanna give up and call your mommy that’s fine with me!
