Chapter 53: A Debt Paid in Full
Once the portal closed and they were back on the island, Lysia conjured up Bane some clothing.
"Thank you," Bane sighed, but then gave Lysia a playful smirk. "You know, if this body was older, I wouldn't mind you seeing me in the buck. Though, you seeing me nude like this just makes me feel dumb and embarrassed.
Lysia nodded with a smirk. "There isn't much to look at, just to laugh at."
"Shut it! You’re as flat as a board right now, so you have no right to make fun of my miniature body!" Bane growled, but then he rolled his eyes. "Come on. I feel like it has been ages since I have been to town! And now that I am much stronger, I have some unfinished business to deal with!"
Lysia pinched his ear, making him yelp, but then just sighed as she started to walk with Bane. "Are you going to start bullying the villagers? I don't think that many could stand up to you as you are now."
"Bully the villagers? No, I only have my eyes set on one little annoying bandaged wrapped prick!" Bane declared, clenching one fist in front of himself, making Lysia shake her head.
"Even if you beat Ezio up, I don't think it will change much. If anything, I think it will just make things worse between the two of you," Lysia warned, but Bane shook his head, raising his little fist in the air.
"I fight for love! I will beat his ass till he knows what is good for him! Ezio doesn't know it, but this will be the first time he ever thanks someone for whooping his ass!" Bane cheered, making Lysia shake her head as they got closer to the village.
"I personally think that you are just going to make things worse, but he is not my problem. If you want to deal with him, then make sure you don't take all day," Lysia said as they reached the edge of the village, and then she turned to Bane. "Just make sure that you come to the town hall after you are done. We both need to have a conversation with Bilgarth about our future."
Bane nodded with a smile. "Got it. I will make sure that I deal with this as fast as possible, but I can't make any promises on how long it will take."
Lysia gave him a look. "Make sure that you don't kill him by accident. You are a lot stronger than him now, and I know that you are both good at getting under the other's skin, so make sure not to lose control."
Bane saluted to Lysia, making her glare at him, but then left to head into the village.
'Do you think that your plan will really work?' Eve asked from inside my head, and Bane shrugged.
"No clue, but if it doesn't then I will just try something else. I have a hard time believing that he is so stupid that he won't understand what I am trying to do," Bane said, and then cupped his hands over his mouth. "Ezio, you little shit! I am back so come get some!"
Bane didn't have to wait long before he summoned one of Agarta's blades to his hand, reaching behind himself to deflect three projectiles. Bane turned to see a furious looking Ezio standing on a thick branch behind him.
"So, you came back! And you still haven't learned your lesson, so I will teach you the meaning of pain!" Ezio roared at Bane, throwing three blades at him again.
"Bitch, I am not the same little shit you just tangoed with!" Bane retorted, unsummoning Agrata's blade to catch the ones Ezio had thrown. With a twist of his body, Bane sent them back with ten times the force, aiming at the tree and branch.
Ezio looked like he was about to laugh at Bane's poor aim, but he was blown away with most of the tree as the blades Bane returned ripped apart everything they touched. Though it surprised him, Ezio was still able land, avoiding the debris of the destroyed tree.
"You think that strength is enough?!" Ezio growled, but then vanished.
Bane sighed, but then grinned, crossing his arms. When Ezio reappeared, he sent a slash at Bane's side, but Bane blocked the strike with his bare hand that was filled with earth and fire mana. Ezio's eyes widened, and he tried to retreat, but Bane grabbed him.
"And where do you think you are going? What was that? Three attacks? Or do I get to count each blade as an attack?" Bane asked as Ezio tried to break free, but then he was suddenly thrown back into the town.
Ezio's body hit the ground and bounced, but he didn't have a chance to recover before a foot caught him in the stomach. The assassin was launched twenty feet into the air, and then booted again. This continued for about five minutes before Ezio's battered and beaten body hit the ground outside Morgana's house.
Bane landed beside him, and Ezio looked up weakly with a scowl. "You have gotten stronger..."
Bane rolled his eyes and then walked over to knock on the door. "No shit, sherlock. you should have noticed."
Finally realizing where they were, Ezio's scowl turned into panic, and he tried to get up, but Bane stomped on his back and knocked on the door.
"Bane? I thought... Why are you standing on Ezio?" Morgana asked after she opened the door, looking between Bane and Ezio.
"Because, this little shit has something to say to you," Bane said, but then Ezio tried to get free.
"Stop! Why do you keep trying to force me into this!" Ezio raged as Morgana watched them both, not saying anything.
Bane took his foot off Ezio, but before the little bandaged assassin could escape, Bane grabbed him and pulled him up to his face. "I wouldn't be here if you had some balls. I wouldn't be beating your ass right now if you just told this woman how you actually felt. I have my own things to deal with, but you are a thorn in my left ass cheek. I can't train with your girlfriend in peace unless you admit that you like her, so here we are!"
Ezio glared at Bane, his eyes blazing with defiance even through the pain. "You think forcing me into this will make things better? You're an idiot."
Bane shrugged, his grip unyielding. "Maybe I am, but at least I'm not a coward. You need to face your feelings, Ezio. Stop hiding behind your anger and pride."
Morgana, standing in the doorway, looked between the two of them with a mix of confusion and concern. "Ezio..."
Ezio's gaze flickered to Morgana, and for a moment, vulnerability broke through his hardened exterior. He opened his mouth to speak, but the words caught in his throat. Bane's grip tightened, and he leaned in, his voice low and firm.
"Say it, Ezio. Tell her the truth."
Ezio closed his eyes, taking a deep breath. When he opened them again, his expression had softened. "Morgana, I... I've been in love with you for a long time. But I didn't know how to say it. I was afraid."
Morgana's eyes widened in surprise, her cheeks flushing slightly. "Ezio, I... I didn't know."
Ezio sighed, the tension in his body easing. "I know. I've been a fool, letting my fear control me. But Bane's right. I need to be honest with you."
Bane released his grip on Ezio, though he raised his hand like he was going to slap the boy, but dropped it, stepping back with a satisfied smirk. "I really should smack you, but it is finally done. Was that so hard?"
Ezio shot him a glare, but there was no real heat behind it. "Shut up, Bane."
Morgana took a step forward, her expression softening. "Ezio, I... I care about you too. But we need to talk about this. Honestly and openly."
Ezio nodded, a sense of relief washing over him. "Yeah, we do."
Bane clapped his hands together, drawing their attention. "Great! Now that that's settled, I have some business to take care of. Lysia and I need to speak with Bilgarth. You two have fun talking."
As Bane turned to leave, Morgana called out to him. "Bane, thank you. For forcing this conversation."
Bane waved a hand dismissively. "No problem. Just make sure he stops being a pain in my ass."
With that, Bane walked away, heading towards the town hall where Lysia was waiting. As he approached, he saw her standing with her arms crossed, a look of mild amusement on her face.
"Did you accomplish your mission?" Lysia asked, raising an eyebrow.
Bane grinned. "Yep. I vented my frustrations real good! Oh, and Ezio finally confessed. Now we can move on to more important things."
Lysia shook her head with a smile. "You never cease to amaze me, Bane. Come on, let's go see Bilgarth. We have a lot to discuss."
