The Male Lead? I Don’t Want Him

Chapter 3

‘No, I thought it would be different…’

The next morning, Luna happily descended to the dining hall but froze when she unexpectedly encountered someone.

“Luna.”

“…Fersen!?”

How come from the wind in the morning to the baron!? She begged him not to open the door like that! Why again!

Luna was caught off guard and speechless, and he pointed at his own hair.

“How does it look?”

“What?”

Are you asking about the empty head? If that’s the case, she was ready to criticize harshly, but Fersen’s question wasn’t about that.

“My hair.”

His hair? He had swept one side back with a curling iron, which looked quite acceptable, but Luna couldn’t understand his intention and furrowed her eyebrows.

“Is it not good? I tried it because it’s trendy these days.”

“Why are you talking nonsense from the morning?”

“Nonsense? I came to show it to you first… Are you not in a good mood today? Or is my hair not good?”

“It’s neither good nor trendy nor important. Why are you here? I told you not to come again!”

“To have a meal together.”

Even in the face of Luna’s cold reaction, Fersen remained unfazed and casually pointed to the seat next to him. Luna tapped her frustrated chest once and asked again.

“Eating here? Why?”

“Well… because I wanted to eat with you, Luna.”

“…Fersen, are you joking right now? Didn’t you hear what I said yesterday? I told you not to come again. Am I a joke to you?”

‘Would you feel refreshed if I died while meeting you?’

Feeling like she was falling into an abyss since the morning, Luna brushed her hair back and expressed her annoyance. Then Fersen, who had been staring at her intently, began to spout nonsense.

“Even when you’re angry, you’re pretty.”

“What nonsense are you talking about!?”

“Just my honest impression.”

“You really…!”

Just when Luna was about to explode in anger, Baron Peils entered the dining hall with a kind smile.

“Luna, good morning. We have a special guest today, so breakfast will be enjoyable.”

Upon realizing that Fersen was brought in by her father, Luna put her hand on the head.

Right. Someone gave permission, so he’s sitting here like this. And the only person who can do that in this mansion is her father, who has a close relationship with Fersen.

Even though they said their goodbyes and vowed never to meet again just yesterday, they were having breakfast together not even 24 hours later. If anyone saw them, they would jump to the wrong conclusions and curse them out. It was truly a crazy situation with nothing going right.

“Please take a seat. Let’s start the meal.”

“Father…”

Luna couldn’t hide her despairing expression as she turned her gaze to her father.

Baron Peils was a person who cherished and loved his family. However, he had a few major flaws, namely squandering money and being completely oblivious to social cues. His child had to endure various insults because of Fersen.

Luna had tried to talk to him several times before, but he would only respond with, ‘Haha! You’re just really close friends, so people have strange misunderstandings!’ It was as if nothing could get through to him. In that aspect, he was no different from Fersen.

As the flaws started to surface, too many of them, Luna strained her neck and tried to clear her mind. She didn’t intend to spoil the refreshing morning with unnecessary remarks, so she eventually quietly took her seat.

If the two of them, who understood each other well, joined forces, it was clear that the one who would lose in this situation would be Luna herself. She had to find another way to overcome this obstacle.

“How about riding in my carriage together to work today?”

“But it might be inconvenient on the way back.”

“Why not ride in the Duke’s carriage?”

“Hmm, I’m not sure if that would be okay.”

“Haha, of course it’s fine. Or I can come with you and we can have dinner together.”

“Really? That’s a great idea!”

Furthermore, there was another reason why Luna couldn’t vent her anger at Fersen in front of the Baron. It was because Baron Peils was working for Fersen’s family.

On the subject of making his own family live without a penny, the Baron was in charge of managing the budget for another family. It wasn’t a professional jo, but rather a simple task of executing, recording, and verifying the budget instructions received in writing. Of course, a certain level of education and knowledge was required, which is why Baron Peils, a minor noble, took on that role.

Because of that, Luna herself managed to overcome the hurdle and become childhood friends with Fersen.

‘In hindsight, it was just an excuse.’

The excuse of becoming childhood friends with Fersen. That way, she could become a foreign object and disrupt the peace between the male lead and female lead.

‘But I can’t just leave it like this.’

It was a lie when she declared to Seira yesterday that she wouldn’t meet Fersen. She didn’t invite him to the mansion, but it was still a situation that could lead to misunderstandings.

‘It’s ridiculous that he keeps calling him, but I can’t help it.’

Luna, who brushed aside the still affectionate Baron and Fersen as they enjoyed their meal, left the dining room without finishing her soup.

As promised in the morning, Fersen returned to the mansion with the Baron in the evening.

Damn it. She clearly had begged her father to come alone.

As expected, thanks to the Baron taking the matter lightly, it didn’t work out this time either.

Frowning at the Baron who disappeared into his room, changing the clothes, Luna listened intently outside the mansion.

“Luna, I bought the cake you like. Let’s have it together after dinner,” Fersen said, smiling brightly and sounding pleased.

That damn idiot. Does he even know what he’s doing right now?

“Forget the cake. Just take it and get lost before I crush it on your face.”

“Haha, when you say it like that, it reminds me of the old days. When you accidentally threw cake on my face when we were kids. Your surprised face was quite adorable.”

Fersen laughed as if he was enjoying himself. What’s the appropriate way to describe that bastard?

In the moment when she thought about throwing cake on Fersen’s face again to make her cute for the second time, she heard the sound of an unfamiliar carriage outside the mansion.

At a miraculously opportune timing, the feeling of being trapped in hell suddenly surfaced and dissipated in an instant. It was truly fortunate that they arrived before she turned into a demon.

“Oh, looks like she’s here.”

“She’s here? Who?”

“I invited another guest just in case, thinking you might be coming, Fersen.”

“Another guest?”

As if asking when she was planning to unleash violence, Luna put on a cheerful smile and went out of the entrance to greet the guest herself.

Luna felt a sudden release of tension, but Fersen followed behind her like a puppy, saying that it’s good when good things happen.

Seira, who got off the carriage, greeted Luna while struggling to hide her subdued expression.

“…Nice to see you again.”

“Yes.”

I wish I didn’t have to see you. Both you and Fersen. But what can I do? Your boyfriend is here causing troubles again.

Rather than being alone with Fersen and being misunderstood, it was better to have Seira here too. There was also a hope that by showing the reality directly, the misunderstanding that Luna was trying to seduce Fersen would be cleared up.

Of course, there was also a way to navigate through this hardship by building a friendship through various conversations with Seira. After all, Seira was a kind person, so it should be easy to get closer.

It wasn’t her who killed Luna; it was the people around her.

In fact, it was described that Seira was quite shocked by Luna’s death. She cried together with a grieving Fersen.

So, in many ways, it was better to call for Seira.

“Lady Seira? How did you come here…”

Behind Luna, who was exchanging greetings with Seira, Fersen’s head suddenly appeared.

He blinked his eyes as he suddenly noticed Seira’s presence, and his face seeming to ask why she was here.

Seira, with a piercing gaze from her clear eyes, stared back at him. To the point where Luna wondered how the female lead could allow such a situation. So Luna, who had just praised her inwardly a moment ago, was slightly taken aback. However, since a fight in the entrance was out of the question, she quickly put on a gentle smile and mediated between the two.

“I invited her. It would be disappointing if Lady Granada were left out while Fersen is here. The two of you are inseparable. It’s modest, but please come inside.”

Seira tried to hide her displeasure and stood beside Fersen. Even though he was the one who caused this absurd situation, he didn’t have the courage to overturn it.

Luna sighed and walked past the two, heading towards the dining room. Fersen and Seira followed behind her.

Thus, in this strange combination, dinner took place at the barony, which was the very source of misunderstanding.

Of course, it was the worst. If you were to ask who it was the worst for, it was Seira. Despite his girlfriend being around, Fersen didn’t pay her the slightest bit of attention.

“Indeed, barony Peils is always warm and comfortable whenever you come. I would like to stay here for the night and return to the Duke’s mansion with the Baron tomorrow morning.”

“Haha. I also have a strong desire to do so, but don’t I lack spare clothes?”

“Spare clothes? Why wouldn’t I have them? I must have left something behind when I stayed at the mansion last time.”

“Is that so? Well, then it wouldn’t be bad to do that. Even though a young master is a young master, I find it comfortable and pleasant to ride in the Duke’s carriage.”

Fersen, fine, but why even Father…

Luna’s head started to ache, and she intervened in their conversation, slamming the knife loudly on the table.

“Father, what are you saying? What about Lady Granada? Fersen, you’re not thinking of sending Lady Granada back alone, are you? Wouldn’t it put your mind at ease if the young lady could go back with the young master on this dark night?”

“Oh right, I’ve been thoughtless. I have offended Marchioness Granada. It would be better for the young master to accompany her.”

Fersen, who hadn’t looked at Seira until the main course was served, finally turned his gaze towards her.

The pale-faced Seira was lowering her head, unable to even touch her food.
