Chapter 30: Future and Past
The black blood spat by Punya similarly landed on the hardwood floor and started melting the spot it had landed on. Keshab then used a talisman to completely purify it. With a sizzling sound, the black blood was completely dissolved without leaving any traces. It was similar to when Kumari used alchemy fire before but since Keshab didn’t cultivate the Green Fire method, he couldn’t produce such flame to burn it. Using other battle skills on the black blood didn’t seem useful and he couldn’t afford to leave any remainder. Who knows if it will dissolve into spiritual energy and harm them? There are many bizarre things in the cultivation world and there are various poisons and curses that slowly meld into surrounding natural energy and hard the cultivators who come in contact with them slowly.
Just like Radha after spitting the black blood Punya’s complexion became better slowly. As he was recovering his foundation and blood essence, he also seemed to be on the verge of breakthrough. The spirit energy from the array suddenly converged toward Punya creating a whirlpool around him. Unlike Radha, the aura surrounding him seemed thick and heavy. It was due to his cultivation technique the Lesser Battle Sutra of Mountain. It was an incomplete spirit-grade cultivation technique that was attuned to the earth element. As Punya started circulating his cultivation technique, the air around them became heavier. After a while with a barely audible pop sound, Punya broke through to the ninth level of Foundation Building realm. And with his identity of a Battle Cultivator, his strength was almost invincible in the Foundation Building realm.
The heaviness surrounding the room began to retreat and Punya opened his eyes. He looked at his father and said “My foundation has recovered by almost half. The blood essence has been replenished. Although it is obscure, I can finally see a path to the Golden Core Formation realm.” Hearing this Keshab was surprised and happy. If Punya has a chance to break through the Golden Core Formation realm, he can rest easy concerning the future of the clan. He only had a little over two decades of his lifespan left. Although the strength of the Rijal clan seemed sufficient for now there was no telling what would happen in a century or another. But if a clan had a Golden Core Formation cultivator, on the surface it would ensure the future of the family for at least half a millennia. This time was more than that of the Rijal clan’s establishment after all their clan had only been founded for little over four hundred years.
Although Keshab was confident he could become a third grade array master, he wasn’t sure if he would ever break through to the Golden Core Formation realm. He could place a third-grade array all over the clan but it would only be passive strength and who is to say others would not covet those arrays and the inheritance? In the end, if a cultivator himself doesn’t have strength every external means will always remain external. So having a Golden Core formation cultivator in the clan would ensure Rijal clan will be the king of Lunaris city. A mountain of pressure seemed to have been lifted from Keshab’s shoulder. He had been constantly worrying for the safety of the clan ever since he was a teenager. A sigh of relief seemed to have escaped from his lips but it seemed as if his soul had also breathed a sigh of relief.
Instantly his soul began to sublimate and his comprehension of the array deepened. Although his cultivation realm didn’t increase a bit, he became confident he would break through to the third grade array mastery in a year. Keshab seemed surprised by this but he understood how much pressure he had been bearing for the clan. It was over a century of constant worry about the survival of his clan. He could finally let go of the pressure a little bit. He looked at his grandson and patted him on his back saying “I am proud of you kid. I am sure our Ancestors are smiling at us.” Hearing this praise Amrit had a shy expression and brushed his nose with a finger. At that time Punya interjected “Hey hey I was the one who broke through. Why are you praising him, old man?” Looking at his son’s jealous expression he laughed and said “Why would I praise you for taking a top-grade pill and making a breakthrough? Your only involvement was eating a pill that we all had a part in procuring and refining. Are you a kid?”
Looking at the disdainful gaze of his father Punya was about to retort but Kumari and Radha came down the stairs at that time. Kumari looked at her son and said “You also seemed to have a breakthrough. Looks like our clan is fortunate. Go and clear yourself I will make lunch.” Looking at his murky sweat-stained body Punya stood up, nodded to his parents, and went upstairs. Although the cultivators could use spiritual energy and talismans to clear themselves the Rijal clan still adopted the mundane ways whenever they could. This was not unique to the Rijal clan, some other cultivation clans also did this. But for the Rijal clan whose origin was that of simple farmers, the mundane ways were almost an instinct.
A little more than four hundred years ago, it was said that the Ancestor of the Rijal clan, Hemanta Rijal came to this city with his family. There were about a dozen of his brothers and sisters when they arrived at Lunaris city. They lived in a village a little far from the city but one day few grade-one spirit beasts invaded the village. Most of the people in the village were mortals without cultivation. Only the village chief and his family were low-level cultivators. But the spirit beasts targeted them first and killed them in one fell swoop. The four hundred members of the village scattered and ran in different directions. Many of them were chased and killed by the beasts. Hemanta’s parents, who were mortal warriors, sacrificed themselves to protect their children. Hemanta was about nineteen at that time. Taking away his siblings whose ages ranged from eighteen to one, he fled the village and wandered towards the direction of Lunaris city. On the way, two of his siblings died to beasts and only eleven of them remained. Luckily, he stumbled upon a cave of a low-level cultivator and gained a cultivation technique. Although the technique was not Lesser Battle Sutra of Mountain and could only be cultivated in the Qi sensing realm, it was a godsend for them. As he started cultivating, he found out that he had a decent talent. He quickly broke through to the Qi sensing realm. Then it became somewhat easier for them to travel. After traveling for a few months, and battling various beasts, and fighting with the forest to survive, they arrived at the Lunaris city. And the rest is history.
