Chapter 119: The Land's Between.
Romonus was rather disappointed that his first fictional realm was Elden Ring and not Marvel or Fate since those verses were of a higher level. Other than the Outer Gods here and maybe Radahn he didn't think he would find a challenge in this realm.
However, he could recruit people who mattered here and he knew just one Gravity Weilding Demigod to save. Romonus extended his hands to the gate and forced it to stabilize inside the starter dungeon where the game began.
Once the gate held steady he turned to Latia who was checking all the systems of the Gate they had built to make sure it wasn't falling apart.
"How much energy is it consuming?"
Latia squinted her eyes as she looked at the many screens detailing the inner workings of the Gate. She then looked back with a thumbs up.
"A tremendous amount, the good news is that the Dimensional Gap has all the energy to keep it open. If needed, I can open channels to other universes if we need more. However, we have successfully, created a means to leave our home Dimension. Now, what did you find?"
Romonus gave them all the bad news.
"I am sad to say you all lost your bets, we didn't find Berserk, Tensura, Dragon Ball, My Hero, Marvel, DC, Fairy Tail, or any of those. We found a game world called Elden Ring."
Everyone started groaning as those had been the popular guesses and the ones they were looking forward to. Latia as a big fan of dark and gritty worlds wanted to go to Berserk and recruit Guts as her Rook.
She had planned to outfit him with some seriously upgraded gear and watch him Rip and Tear. Rias, on the other hand, wanted to go to Dragon Ball to learn the secrets of Ki to be able to punch out anyone who bothered her.
Romonus personally wanted to go to Fairy Tail because he wanted to add Dragon, God, and Devil Slayer Magic to his arsenal, and in no small amount because of the many women there.
Regardless of the world they found, it was another world with the probability of it having its own Multiverse. Romonus planned to start exploring as he had ideas on many characters he grew attached to who always had bad endings.
"Everyone, let us stop for a moment. This is our first world so let us take the chance to enjoy the change in scenery. You can only be surprised by another multiverse a couple dozen times before it becomes completely stale.
You all will get a chance to explore, but at least half of you need to remain here in case something stupid happens. I will go through of course, but I will propose a few go with me.
Serafall, you are our best diplomat since that was your job for hundreds of years. Valerie, your life-altering power will be crucial in this bleak world.
Ingivild, your Sacred Gear and control over Dragons will also be helpful since there are dragons in this world that may not be fully open to hearing us out. Trihexa, as a dragon yourself, you should go as well, and I also want to take Miria, Natsume, and Silvana. Any issues?"
Ophos shook his head as while he was all for exploring worlds that could challenge him, this one could not. He lit up a cigar before taking a drag and puffing out a large cloud of smoke
"Nah, I will stay here. While I am all for exploring another world, you seem disappointed by it. If it disappoints you, it will disappoint me."
Lady Red thought about it before making the surprising decision.
"I will go with you, having three Dragon Gods will be better than two."
Ophis though chose to stay behind.
"Count me out, fighting is such a chore."
Romonus shook his head as even decades later she still found fighting a chore. He didn't mind as she never denied him a fight either in battle or in bed.
"I don't mind, with this device, we will have all the opportunities to find better worlds to make a mess of. Before we head off into the gate, does anyone else want to go in the first team?"
Walburga spoke up.
"Can I go, it is not every day that we find a new world with new magics. I will also check if the magic is safe to learn or if we should ignore it."
Romonus felt that was a good idea as the worlds of Soulsborne were known for maddening knowledge. Especially Bloodborne he wanted to go because of the Old Ones and the power he could gain.
He waited as his family members discussed things. Rias thought about it as this could be interesting.
"I would like to go, but I think I will be of the second wave."
Venelana nodded as well.
"Me and Rias are far better at fighting than the group you choose. Don't get me wrong, the allure of a new world is there, but I still believe a few should enter at a time to determine the danger. Does anyone disagree?"
Venelana glanced around the room looking at the faces of everyone here. Roygun would normally ask to be sent along with Serafall, but right now she was content to wait. The same went with Viviana and Itsuki the biggest battle maniacs after Romonus himself.
Akeno, Seekvaira, Kuroka, Shirone, Lilith, Leviathan, and the others from the look of it would wait until a preliminary analysis of the world. With that choice, Romonus and his chosen group along with his familiars.
Serafall, Valerie, Ingivild, Miria, Natsume, Walburga, Silvana, Trihexa, and Lady Red all gathered around Romonus. In total, it was 10 counting Romonus, and 15 when including his familiars, but his familiars went everywhere Romonus went.
With the initial group choice, Romonus turned to everyone else.
"We will be back soon."
Latia and Seekvaira who had done most of the Artificer work on the gate stood by the displays to make sure it didn't start failing.
"Good look all of you."
Romonus nodded before he and his group all stepped through the gate starting with him. When they did so everyone entered an underground Dungeon which was dingy and dark.
When everyone was past the gate, they all began to glance around. Serafall kneeled and picked up a skeletal hand off the ground.
"A catacomb?"
Romonus nodded.
"Seems like it. Though, it doesn't appear we need to go far."
He knew this area as the beginner area so he led everyone toward the stairs. He did stop by the Minor Erd Tree and he glanced at it, but he ignored it for the most part.
"Let's make haste."
Everyone followed his lead as he moved toward the wooden doors. He kicked them open which wasn't needed, but faster. Once the doors were dealt with, he saw the fog gate which couldn't stop him, but he could come back to it later.
"We should check that out later. I am sure we will find something of interest in there."
Walburga was already curious.
"We just got here and this world is starting to feed my curiosity."
That was a fact as even Miria wanted to explore this place. For now, though everyone stood on the small elevator before Romonus stepped on it. The stone elevator began moving up with all of them on it.
They could have flown, but Romonus just wanted to get the experience out of the way. Once they made it to the top, they all walked up the stairs to the lifting stone door. Just like before Romonus kicked it down sending the stone door flying out into the now-open world.
Outside, Varre, the White Mask suddenly saw a giant Stone Door flying toward him so he weaved out of the way. He almost died and he was quite indignant about having to throw himself to the ground.
He glanced at the dungeon where Romonus crouched down to step through. First of all, Romonus was one of the tallest people Varre had seen before. He wasn't the only tall person in the group as Lady Red was the same height as him so she also had to crouch.
Every single person who stepped through after the two of them was shorter, but no less dangerous looking. Once the whole group was through, Serafall glanced at Varre on the ground.
"A person."
She walked forward until she was standing over Varre. She reached down grabbed his hand and picked him up.
"Sorry about that, we didn't check if someone was here."
Varre cleared his voice as he dusted himself off. He did, however, look at his wrist where she had grabbed him. She had been merely picking him up. but the grip on this small girl was insane.
When he looked at the whole group including the creatures, he knew these people were not normal.
"No harm done, I am alive. Regardless, welcome to the Lands Between. You all don't feel like Tarnished."
Romonus walked forward until he was towering over Varre. The White Masked man had to crane his head to glance at the gigantic Romonus.
"We are not Tarnished, you can consider us visitors from beyond the stars. Now, I have some questions for you my White Masked friend."
Varre cleared his voice.
"And would that be?"
Romonus then waved his hand and something in Varre's pocket flew into his hand. The Pureblood Knight Medal which he held up to his head to look at. When Varre saw that in Romonus' hand, he became alarmed.
"How did you-"
Romonus looked back at Varre before asking.
"What do you know about Mohg?"
Varre thought about this line of thought before speaking.
"Illuminary Mogh is a visionary, a man seeking change in this rotten world."
Romonus knew full well Mogh was a victim in this world not just as an Omen, but as a brainwashed individual under Miquella.
"I am keeping this by the way, I will speak to Mogh myself and the Formless Mother. You don't mind Varre?"
Varre was indignant, but one look from Romonus' eyes and he went back to his calm mood.
"Of course, Lord Mogh would of course speak to you."
Romonus nodded.
"Good, Valerie give this guy a check-up. Tell me how he differs from the humans in our world."
Varre didn't understand that Valerie was standing next to him. She moved so fast it was like she just appeared next to him. She proceeded to grab his head and instantly he was frozen in place as his body, soul, and entire being were analyzed.
"He has a soul of quite higher quality than a human born in our world. However, he does have a unique type of blood flowing through his body increasing his strength, but affecting his mind to be more bloodthirsty.
In all honestly, this man compared to a church exorcist is unimpressive. He is also filled with nothing, but thoughts of our deaths. You in particular Romonus for the shame of losing the badge you too."
She released him causing Varre to fall to the ground. Walburga looked down at Varre who was now on his knees.
"Can we kill him?"
Romonus nodded.
"Go ahead, take his body though."
Walburga didn't need to be told twice and she swung her hand. Her long cat claws sliced his head off with ease. She even used some Demonic Energy in her hand to cauterize the wound so his blood didn't spill out.
Walburga picked up the corpse and she collected Varre's soul. She tossed the body and head inside her Spatial Ring, but she handed the soul to Romonus. Romonus now holding Varre's soul was curious what the souls of this world could be used for.
He walked toward the ledge looking down at the Golden Tree Sentinal on a large horse. Azi on his shoulder, spoke to him.
'We know everything this world has to offer, you played this game as a human. What is your plan?'
'First, we will collect every one of the Great Runes, I will then use them to create the Elden Ring, and use it on myself. Fighting the Greater Will sounds like fun.'
'Any of the fine women interest you?'
Romonus smirked.
'One or two.'
Azi laughed as that was just the man Romonus was. Why not live when you were a Demon God?
