Prologue
Do you ever feel as if your life makes no sense? As if you were living on automatic?
School, college, raising a family while working in a good company with the goal of higher positions. Probably, if you don't count the fact that I have never been married or had a child, my life has been quite productive as an executive in a multinational company.
But I have decided that from today on I am going to take a new direction in my life! I think this out loud, feeling more invigorated.
"Sir, are you even listening to what I am saying?" said the head of HR at the company where I work until now.
Now that I remembered, we were at the counter sorting out the paperwork for my resignation.
"Oh, sorry, I was distracted for a moment."
"Whatever, just put your signature on this line. It's a shame that you want to leave the corporation, but I sincerely wish you luck in whatever you do."
"Thank you very much for everything so far," I say this as I sign the contract in front of me.
After that, I bow slightly to my former co-worker and walk out of the company building in which I had worked until then.
Honestly, I don't even remember who he is, other than his position, but it's important to keep up appearances~
A few hours have passed since then and I'm back home, after my parents moved out I spend most of my time alone, but I've gotten used to it.
I sit down in front of the computer and turn it on. It has been a long time since I have been able to sit in this chair and play my favorite RPG without interruption: Rise of Legends.
As the name implies, it is a generic fantasy game that is very dated for today, the classic type of heroes defeating a demon king.
So why do I like this game you ask me? For the high freedom, of course!
I don't know what kind of masochistic team of developers created this game, but if you count all the classes, there must be more than 500. In my case, my character's class is an [Archangel] specializing in healing and magic in high succession.
Another interesting part is how detailed the avatar creation is, you can edit anything from a part of the belly to a lock of hair.
Since I'm not the most creative person in the world, my character is a little girl of about 10 years old, blonde and with red eyes, honestly I find her quite adorable. I called her Medaka Ainvel.
Back in the game, I left her saved in the final stage.
I don't know how many times I've played this game, but it's always exciting when you reach the demon king's castle.
Upon entering the castle, I face several types of monsters: Arachnes, Cyclops, High Kobolds, Ghouls, and even some smaller dragons, but all are relatively easy to defeat after launching dozens of basic attacks while dodging.
After defeating all the demon lords, only the demon king remains. Entering the castle room as usual, the demon king begins to speak his programmed dialogue:
"Hahaha well done warrior! Your bravery has made you worthy to face me."
But before he could finish his strange monologue, I sent an energy beam depleting his HP.
As I said before, I've played this game hundreds of times, enough that Medaka is already at level 730, 7 times more than the main villain, although it still has much more content than the main story.
[Congratulations! You have now defeated the Demon King over 1356 times! With that, a new reward has been added].
"Eh?! That much?! I think I've been playing too much!
After I finish watching the post-final scene, however, I start to feel hungry and go to the refrigerator:
"It's empty" I got so addicted to this game that I forgot to buy food....
"Thank you so much for your purchase! Come back often", says the friendly receptionist at the convenience store, she is strangely excited for her first day on the job.
After buying some canned food to eat, I leave the store and think about what I am going to do with my life from now on, seeing that girl reminded me of when I started working. This is not good, I have to be more positive.
While I was having this monologue, a truck was running loose.
"Hey, watch out!"
Fortunately, the truck didn't hit me....
Or so I thought, the truck slipped on the road and before I knew it the back end landed right where I was and I lost consciousness.
