Chapter 603: In the Vision of Final War (1)
"Mother Core, I feel that you are too lenient towards him. Even if he advanced to Rank 7, you needn't go out of your way for him."
Ignox spoke his doubts because he didn't think that Leylin, as someone who had just advanced to Rank 7, should have such high preferential treatment, not to mention there was also a certain degree of jealousy over his achievements.
Only he knew what a terrifying existence a peak Rank 8 Beings of Law like Mother Core was.
Even in ancient times, she'd been an overlord amongst the Magi, not to mention she was one of the few Rank 8 Beings of Law on their side, who managed to survive the Final War against the World of Gods.
Mother Core had survived the Final War against the World of Gods. She was much stronger than the Nightmare King or Distorted Shadow, who were already considered as peak Rank 8 Magi with peerless power and were legends of the legends.
Someone with her vaunted existence did not need to pay much heed to a new Rank 7 Warlock. Yet, for some reason, she was and it was something that was making many Magi very curious about his existence.
"You have sensed his aura, did you?"
Mother Core turned to Ignox, who almost shrunk down in his place, not daring to meet her gaze, as he remembered the power that the newly advanced Rank 7 Warlock showcased...
Even though he didn't want to admit it, Ignox knew that one hit from Leylin would obliterate his existence and, second, would destroy or devour his very own soul.
And that was just right after the advancement.
"And aside from his personal power... I spoke with the Wisdom Tree not long ago, in the river of time and space…"
After seeing the Ignox shivering under her gaze, Mother Core continued, not really caring about the servant that much. She knew that Leylin Farlier was someone who had terrifying power dwelling inside him and could be a strong ally.
"Wisdom Tree? The existence which had enlightened many Ancient Magi?"
Ignox could not ignore the famed vision of the Wisdom Tree.
"Didn't it disappear into legend a long time ago?"
According to the legends, the Wisdom Tree disappeared not long after the end of the Final War between the Magus World and the World of Gods.
Nobody knew where it went or what happened to it, but many started considering the Wisdom Tree as either dead or as something that never existed in the first place... as mere myth and legend.
"It gave up on eternal life, walking a different path…"
Mother Core did not elaborate, but the few words she said painted the image of a terrifying existence. The Wisdom Tree, since then, has reached power that was far more eclipsing that of her own; she sensed that it was probably even above the mythical Rank 9 Being of Law.
"It gave me a prophecy. The Final War is coming for us once more and after that, an inevitable change will take in the Universe that will forever reshape its past, present and future..."
Mother Core spoke gravely; she herself was, in the end, a really small player in the great scheme of all things to know the true and real meaning behind the words that were spoken and passed to her.
"What?!" Even Ignox, a rank 7 Magus who was near indestructible with hundreds of thousands of years of existence, was surprised by this alarming news.
The Final War had already pushed the World Wills of the two strongest worlds in the Astral Plane into a deep slumber. Many powerful existences had perished, and it had ended the golden era of the ancient Magi.
That war was about to repeat and probably even on a larger scale and with graver consequences?
"But this…But…"
However, he couldn't doubt the Wisdom Tree and Mother Core. The dark mist around Ignox rolled around in the air; he had been truly shocked to the depths of his soul.
"The Final War will demolish all Laws and obliterate a world…"
The meaning of Mother Core's words were obscure, yet there was an underlying tinge of excitement.
"In ancient times, the war between the Magi and the Gods could not be avoided. Only the victor would discover the path to eternity… However, both parties suffered heavy casualties at the end. As for the upcoming war, it will be even more harsh and brutal than before. Many elites lost in the last one will surface once again, returning to the limelight!"
Ignox didn't know what to say anymore. He could only continue to listen. Once he heard everything and understood it, he realized that the war erupting once more was very likely.
Ignox was merely a Rank 7 Magus; while he was certainly powerful compared to the other Magi, only those who reached the Rank 8 could be considered elites and had some voice in the Magus community.
The resurrection of a large group of peak Rank 8 Beings of Law was a scary thought because it would change the entire political structure of the Magus World with the influx of countless Rank 8 Magi, from which many would be at the peak of Rank 8.
After all, the resurrection would not only happen in the Magus world.
The World of Gods, too, would traverse planes to the River of Space and Time, once again reclaiming their Divine Seats!
In such a brutal battle and such chaotic times, even the Rank 7 Magi could perish and be killed for all eternity.
Permanent death was scary, though, for those who had already gotten used to eternal life.
In truth, in this case, Ignox wasn't the only one who would think this because for countless other Rank 7 and even probably some Rank 8 Magi who had already gotten up on the dreams of advancement, such news would be a literal nightmare.
"What does this have to do with Leylin?"
Ignox asked with a hoarse voice.
"We need to treat anyone rising up just before the Final War with great importance and someone as powerful as him... would be extremely frightening opponent on the battlefield, he would be one of the pioneers in the Final War."
Mother Core's voice was still as steady as before.
