The Green Witch's Path

Prologue: The Whisper of Magic

Magic was born in silence.

Long before the ley lines crisscrossed the world, long before wizards and witches learned to harness the forces of nature, there was only the First Magic—a raw, untamed power that flowed through all things. It was the heartbeat of the world, the essence of life itself, weaving the elements into harmony.

But harmony, like silence, never lasted long.

Over time, the First Magic fractured. The reasons were lost to history—some said it was the will of the world itself, others whispered of ancient beings that sought to control what could not be contained. Whatever the cause, the primal forces were born from that fracture—wild, chaotic energies that tore through the world, threatening to unravel everything the First Magic had created.

To contain the chaos, the ley lines were forged. Great rivers of magic, threading through the earth, the sky, and the sea, binding the primal forces to a fragile balance. For centuries, the ley lines held strong, and the world flourished under their protection.

But magic, like nature, is never truly still.

Now, whispers travel along the ley lines, carried on the winds of ancient forests and buried beneath the roots of forgotten places. The balance is shifting. The primal forces are stirring once more, testing the boundaries of their containment, pushing against the magic that holds them back.

And in a small, unassuming village, far from the centers of power and the grand halls of magical learning, the first ripples of that unrest are beginning to reach a young witch named Briar.

Briar, like many of her kind, has lived her life in quiet harmony with the earth. She tends to her garden, listens to the hum of the ley lines beneath her feet, and studies the ancient texts passed down by generations of witches. But there is something different about Briar—something the primal forces sense, even if she doesn’t understand it yet.

A green witch, they call her. Connected to the earth in ways even the most learned scholars can’t quite explain. But Briar’s connection to the ley lines goes deeper than anyone knows.

And as the balance of magic begins to fray, she will be called upon to do more than tend her garden. She will be drawn into a world of ancient forces and forgotten secrets, where the stakes are higher than she could ever imagine.

For the primal forces are rising.

And Briar is one of the few who can stand in their way.
