Chapter 109.2
The spring breeze, imbued with a moderate chill, tousled his raven black hair. His red eyes looked at her through her parted bangs.
For a moment, she felt as if there was a warmth emanating from his usually cold eyes.
‘What kind of delusion is this…!’ She thought to herself, startled by her own thoughts.
“You’ve been quiet for a while, but now it seems like you forgot your place.”
A chilling voice echoed in her mind. It was Anthony’s terrifying voice.
“Why? Just because you think you’re the Grand Duchess, something has changed?”
‘Ah.’
Asella was once again reminded of her situation.
Phillip and Anthony sold her in exchange for the succession to the marquisate. And Calix Benvito was the one who bought her…
And for a high price at that.
‘Like a piece of property to be sold.’
He was the one who had killed her mother and now he held the lives of Asella and Mariel in his hands. At some point, he would trample them under his feet.
But no matter how excited she was, how could she even think of such a thing about him?
“Grand Duchess? What a joke. Do you think Benvito will be looking at you, That Calix Benvito?”
Throb.
A sharp pain pierced the corner of Asella’s heart, which had been wounded so many times that she could barely feel any pain as it went numb. Somehow, she felt like she was on the verge of tears.
Why? How come?
Asella’s heart began to beat violently, and the horse, sensing her unusual state, hissed and whinnied.
“What’s wrong?” Calix sensed that something was wrong and tried to speak to Asella, but it was already too late. The horse kicked the ground and it started running forward like mad.
“Asella!”
Calix followed her immediately, shouting while riding his horse. He was beside her in a flash and then saw her, Asella’s side face had turned pale as if she were a corpse, and shouted, “Slow down right now! Damn it!”
However, Asella’s mind was already blank with fear. Her grip loosened as she lost strength in her hands holding the reins, and the horse, out of control, began to speed up frantically.
“Damn it, hold onto the reins!”
Calix’s voice faintly reached Asella’s ears. She tried to apply more force to her hands against the reins but they kept slipping. She felt like she was about to lose the reins at any moment. Her mind was so dizzy that she couldn’t tell what was in front of her.
And then, the horse suddenly leaped forward, kicking up its front legs.
“Asella!”
Asella lost her grip on the reins and Asella’s body bounced sending her flying into the air.
