Chapter 4: Battle of Carne, part three (13)
…
The little romp she did outside just proved something to her. It proved that she could get as tired as can be. While she had given some of her captives over to Neuronist, she had gotten back some information right after. It didn’t take long to break them at all, barely an hour after she had given them to her torturer after all.
She laid back down on her bed and sighed. This day had been going well, but she was rather stressed and tired now. Everyone had been looking at her with such zeal and admiration that it was getting hard to focus on everything.
She had gotten back to the tomb after she had told Gazef, as well as the villagers that their enemies had been all killed and slain. She had been so tired in fact that she missed the look of shock that was generated after she simply teleported out of there.
She had asked Sebas to prepare her a bath, then after that get her some relaxing drinks too that were safe to lay down with. After she had asked that and gotten that bath done, she had simply decided to lay in bed for a bit. She was pretty sure she could sleep; she hadn’t tried it much though.
Right now, she was in her bed, reading a rather good manga that she had in her inventory for some odd reason. Her blankets were wrapped around her like she was a caterpillar in a cocoon. The lamps that were sat on the bedside tables near her burned dimly with flame. It was a rather homely atmosphere.
As she reached the last page of her current book, she put it away into her inventory. After she had done so, she then grabbed a cup of newly made hot chocolate. She blew on the top and took a sip. She had never really gotten the feeling of enjoying eating food before.
However, right now she knew what it felt like, and she was loving it. she was starting to let her mind unravel when a thought struck her. Why had everyone been comparing her looks to that of a goddess? Sure, she understood from what little time she had spent here in the tomb with the newly awakened NPCs that they saw her as a goddess, but why the natives?
This line of questions sent her down a lane of memories that had simply decided to be remembered in that moment. She was very thankful for that, though. Because it was then that she realized something.

“I don’t know man, I think you did way better on that design on your avatar than you realize,” Peroroncino as he rubbed the back of his own avatar’s head, “Like, the software that a player can use to make the more designed avatars that you pay for is harder to use than actual 3D software; at least that’s what I heard,” he spoke some more.
Satoru shook his avatar’s head. Her locks of lightly colored lilac swayed, and Pero squirmed. It felt weird to him that this was his friend. The man that he had met only a few times IRL was completely different from his exceedingly feminine avatar.
“Pero, for the last time, I just took like four hours to make this. sure, it was tricky, but that was mostly editing the already made 3D model I made and saved to Yggdrasil’s software. In all honesty, this wasn’t that hard to make,” he said like he hadn’t just described making the perfect 3D waifu.
Peroroncino sighed in exasperation. His friend was gifted in this regard. If he honestly decided to pursue making or designing 3D models, he could have done it. The strangest thing was that his friend didn’t seem to notice that he was this good at it.
“Momo, for the love of God you are good at this. Like, you just straight up made a goddess of death. You used all the tools that you needed to, you used all the short comings of the program to your advantage, you made her hot without needing to show skin! You need to pursue this as a career!” announced Punitto Moe.
The plant man, for all pretense and purposes, was speaking the truth. Though, Momonga simply waved their praise and honest opinions off of himself. He spoke with his avatar’s voice, the buttery smooth tone sent shivers up his own spine. He would never tell anyone that he liked this voice he made himself a little bit too much.
“You guys give me too much credit. Herohero, Whitebrim, and Coup de grace are much better designers than me,” he spoke with a humble tone of voice.
The other two guild members simply looked at each other and then sighed. Momonga, for his part, meekly scratched the back of his avatar’s head. The talk had been long, and his tired mind simply didn’t know what to say.
…
As Momonga came back from the depths of her own mind, she noticed that there was a knocking on her door. It sounded rather rushed and full of hurry, so she bid them to enter.
“Come in,” she simply said as she looked at the door over her tower of fluffy blankets, she really was changing fast, huh?
In came Albedo. She was seemingly panicking and celebrating at the same time. The succubus all but ran over to Momonga’s bed. There, she knelt, then spoke.
“Lady Momonga! I can’t believe it! you were such a badass!” she said in rapture, then realized her mistake in speech and spoke in a calmer voice, “I mean you no offence my lady, but that was a rather good show. Though, it hurt to see you be struck by such an attack. I am infinitely thankful that you are alright.”
Momonga smiled at that. She was rather happy that Albedo was fine mentally. After all, she had basically changed her good friend’s NPC, his child to love her. It was wrong.
Her negative feelings were quickly tamped down after a second of them rising. Her mind was now clear enough for her to realize something, and ask a question in return of that line of newly made thought.
“Albedo, why are you in my room?” Momonga asked with slight confusion and realization.
“Well, you did say that we would live together in the afterlife, and while this obviously isn’t the afterlife. I was wondering if you still would hold onto that promise you spoke of,” she said with slight nervousness.
“Albedo, I don’t know if I want that kind of relationship yet. I think I still need time to adjust to this world,” Momonga spoke nervously as well.
Albedo moved in closer to her with puppy dog eyes. Momonga’s emotional suppression kicked in once more and let her take a step back from her emotions with enough time to think then and there.
She had two options. One was to ignore Albedo’s feelings and tell her that she herself wasn’t ready for this. Two was that she dives headfirst right here and now. Three, was that she moved slowly into this. She honestly didn’t know what to choose.
