The God's Games

Chapter 268: Puzzles of the Past

The journal's owner believed that the God of Light wouldn't abandon them for no reason.

There had to be a cause behind it, so they made several guesses and recorded evidence supporting these theories.

Although these are just speculations and might not be entirely accurate today, the evidence in the journal could still provide them with valuable clues.

Spicy Flavor Fairy skimmed through the journal quickly, highlighting its key points.

"It mentions something I find odd. The journal states that the owner went to investigate the ruins of the former Church of Light. It records that one day, without warning, the Pope's prayers to the God of Light received no response. At first, people didn't think much of it. But after the demons appeared, they tried invoking the God of Light again, only to find that the God still remained silent. That's when they realized something was terribly wrong."

After hearing Spicy Flavor Fairy read this from the journal, a teammate asked, "So you're saying the demons only appeared after the God of Light vanished? But that doesn't prove much. Maybe the God of Darkness sabotaged the God of Light first and only then dared to make a move."

That theory didn't seem unreasonable, and it even matched the explanation the Church of Light had been passing down for generations.

Master PungPong furrowed his brows.

Since Hanjun had asked them to investigate this matter, it must mean he didn't believe the current explanations.

Could the truth from back then really be more complicated than they thought?

On the other side, Spicy Flavor Fairy had also uncovered some clues.

According to the books in the library, the relationship between the God of Light and the God of Darkness could be glimpsed from their words.

The two gods were born at the same time and together created this world.

The God of Light created humans, showing a clear preference for them, while the God of Darkness created races like dragons, elves, and dwarves.

Although the God of Darkness's creations were undeniably powerful, they gradually faded away for unknown reasons, leaving only humans to thrive.

Logically, even with these differences, there shouldn't have been any conflict between the two gods.

So why would the God of Darkness have ambushed the God of Light?

Master PungPong scratched his head and said, "Maybe it's because most humans worship the God of Light, and the God of Darkness got jealous?"

Spicy Flavor Fairy shook his head. "The book mentioned that the God of Darkness didn't have any followers. So it wouldn't make sense for him to be jealous of humanity's devotion to the God of Light."

This left them with no clear reason for the God of Darkness's supposed attack on the God of Light.

After considering this, Master PungPong blurted out without thinking, "Could it be that the God of Light's disappearance really had nothing to do with the God of Darkness?"

But if that were the case, they still couldn't explain why the God of Darkness wanted to destroy the world

.

Spicy Flavor Fairy nodded his head in agreement with Master PungPong's hypothesis, but the question remained: If there was no connection, then why would the God of Darkness want to destroy the world?

Wouldn't that mean there's no motive?

At this point, the group was confused.

The demon army was practically at their doorstep, yet they were still stuck pondering the true reason behind why the God of Darkness wanted to destroy the world.

What a situation...

No matter how much they thought about it, the players couldn't reach a conclusion.

They could only report the clues they had gathered to Hanjun.

Hanjun listened carefully to their report, resting his chin in his hand as he fell into deep thought.

It seemed like he was envisioning some of the events that had taken place back then.

The players waited for quite some time before Hanjun finally snapped out of his thoughts and told them, "I already understand what's going on here."

Master PungPong and his team were astonished.

Just like that, the mystery had been solved.

They eagerly awaited Hanjun's response.

They, too, wanted to know the truth.

At the same time, the viewers who had been watching the live streaming couldn't believe that the true reason behind the God of Darkness's desire to destroy the world had been revealed so quickly.

This was, after all, a major part of the main storyline.

Hanjun explained, "It's because the God of Darkness felt that the God of Light was focusing too much of his attention on humanity. As humans shared in too much of the God of Light's divine power, the God of Light gradually grew weaker. The God of Darkness believed that only by wiping out humanity could the God of Light return to his original strength."

That reasoning seemed plausible.

But Spicy Flavor Fairy was stunned.

Instinctively, he sensed that something wasn't quite right, so he asked, "How do you know these things?"

Hanjun inwardly cursed.

The players had noticed something was off.

He had answered too quickly, without any pause or hesitation, which aroused the players' suspicion.

Master PungPong, still not fully grasping the issue, cluelessly asked, "What's wrong? Isn't Hanjun the Holy Son? It's normal for him to know these things from the God of Light, right?"

Fortunately for Hanjun, Master PungPong had provided him with an excuse.

Hanjun quickly followed suit, using it to explain the situation further.

However, at that moment, several teammates caught on; they just didn't voice their thoughts in front of Hanjun.

Even the comments in Master PungPong's live streaming had reacted, pointing out the inconsistencies in Hanjun's words directly.

[ Nacho King: Even if he knew this from the God of Light, there should be some time delay, right? ]

[ CerealKiller47: Exactly! After the streamer finished speaking, Hanjun immediately revealed the entire sequence of events. I feel like something's off here. ]

[ ToiletNinja: Why is everyone so paranoid? I think this is just a game, and you're taking it too seriously. These storylines are definitely scripted, meaning that after the streamer provided clues, Hanjun would tell them the truth. It's not a big deal. ]
