The God of Ice and Fire at Hogwarts

Chapter 98: Speechless Lockhart

When Irina released the Ice Domain, she intentionally (or perhaps unintentionally) restricted the release of the elemental ice magic toward Lockhart, causing him to become an ice sculpture, almost like those Cornish pixies.

At that moment, the class bell rang.

The young wizards could no longer tolerate the low temperature in the classroom and rushed out one by one.

"Sorry, Professor, I may not have controlled my magical power well. Please wait here a moment; the freezing effect will wear off once the magical power dissipates!" Irina apologized to Lockhart.

She then dragged Hermione, who appeared confused, out of the classroom.

"Irina, you obviously could have broken the curse on Professor Lockhart yourself!" Hermione said, looking at Irina suspiciously.

Irina shrugged and said, "Given his vast experience with adventures, he must be a wizard with a high magical level. I'm sure he'll break the curse by himself as soon as we leave. Why should I bother? If I do break the curse, it would mean I don't trust him, don't you think?"

Hermione suddenly seemed enlightened. She nodded vigorously. "Yes, with Professor Lockhart's unfathomable power, it's definitely just a matter of him waving his hand to break the curse himself!"

The two walked back to the Gryffindor common room, chatting and laughing.

Only the ice sculpture resembling Lockhart remained in the classroom, shivering from the cold in the air-conditioned room.

---

The next day, the first class of the morning was the Defense Against the Dark Arts class for the third-year Slytherins and Gryffindors.

Lynn arrived at the classroom, walked straight to the back row, and flipped through his alchemy books.

In Lynn's opinion, there was no real material to learn from Lockhart anyway, so he might as well read his own alchemy books!

Soon, Lockhart arrived at the classroom.

At that moment, Lockhart's appearance caught Lynn's attention.

In the hot summer, Lockhart was wrapped in a thick velvet coat, velvet gloves, and a hood. A thread of mucus dripped from Lockhart's nose, accompanied by the sound of sneezing.

Thick steam was emanating from Lockhart's ears, clearly indicating that he had just taken some kind of cooling potion to treat his cold.

Seeing Lockhart's strange appearance, Lynn couldn't help but feel confused.

At that moment, Lockhart was secretly thinking about something. He had overheard the conversation between Irina and Hermione when they left the classroom yesterday.

Lockhart had originally planned to ask Irina for help to break the curse, but after hearing her thoughts, he decided to stop asking due to his pride.

In the end, he had been frozen in the classroom for two full hours until Professor McGonagall, passing by, lifted the curse with a Stop Curse.

But even so, he had caught a severe cold.

After all, no one could stay healthy after being frozen as an ice sculpture for two hours.

"I, Gilderoy Lockhart… Achoo! Sir Merlin… Achoo! Order of the Third Class, Dark Arts… Achoo! Honorary Member of the Defense League… Achoo! Achoo! Achoo! Achoo!"

Lockhart tried to introduce himself, but he sneezed several times, interrupting his speech with flying mucus.

Reluctantly, Lockhart had no choice but to stop promoting his "great achievements" and began handing out papers to the young wizards while sneezing.

As Lynn looked at the parchment in front of him, now stained with mucus, a look of disgust flickered in his eyes. He quickly moved aside, away from the paper.

"Obviously, you did something good, but I'm the one who feels disgusted..."

Lynn felt a bit helpless. Thinking about Lockhart's current situation, and considering the only class Lockhart had taught yesterday was the second-year Gryffindor and Slytherin Defense Against the Dark Arts class, Lynn could already guess who was responsible for Lockhart's cold.

Half an hour later, Lockhart came down from the podium and started collecting the papers.

When he reached the back row, Lockhart was stunned and asked, "Mr. Rolle, why are all your papers blank?"

Lynn, still flipping through his alchemy books, responded concisely, "I haven't read it. I don't know."

Seeing Lynn's calm expression, Lockhart was taken aback.

Although this was his first time teaching, he had never seen a student so confidently admit they hadn't studied!

Lockhart asked, "Why didn't you read my book? Don't you know today is my Defense Against the Dark Arts class?"

Lynn shrugged innocently and said, "Because I didn't buy it."

At that moment, not just Lockhart, but the entire classroom fell silent.

Lynn had just pulled off a key group control play!

Lockhart felt like he had never been left speechless in his life. He asked, "Why didn't you buy the book? I clearly remember the Hogwarts list said that these books of mine are the textbooks for this year's Defense Against the Dark Arts class!"

Even if he had lost Lowell's book from the previous class, as a qualified idol, it was very reasonable for him to give his little fan a set of his own books.

But this Lynn didn't even buy them!

Lynn set his alchemy book aside, looked at Lockhart, and asked, "Professor Lockhart, may I ask why novels like those are being used as textbooks for Defense Against the Dark Arts? They don't seem to help us improve our knowledge of the subject. Could it be that Professor Lockhart came to Hogwarts just to promote his own books?"

When Lynn finished speaking, all the young wizards in the classroom turned their attention to him and Lockhart.

Some of Lockhart's silly fans looked at Lynn with angry eyes, thinking that Lynn shouldn't insult their idol like this, while the smarter students began to think about it and looked at Lynn questioningly.

Lockhart's head was spinning rapidly, and soon he came up with a response.

Lockhart said solemnly, "Mr. Rolle, you shouldn't slander a professor like this! Naturally, I have my own reasons for choosing these books as teaching materials. I will incorporate the knowledge from these books into my courses so everyone can experience the beauty of Defense Against the Dark Arts in an immersive way..."

Before Lockhart could finish speaking, Lynn interrupted him indifferently: "Sorry, Professor Lockhart, but I'd like to ask, are you referring to the knowledge integrated into the textbook and the immersive experience? You mean performing comedies in the classroom, right?"

Lockhart was stunned. Damn it, how did you know?!
