Chapter 10
The noise continued for a long time, but suddenly, the noises turned into high-pitched screams.
A burst of screams like the scene of a horror movie attracted the attention of Ye Ting and Hermione.
When they heard the sound, the smile on the little girl’s face disappeared immediately, her mouth opened wide, almost screaming.
This is no longer “like” a horror film set, this should be “just” a horror film set.
Twenty ghosts suddenly appeared on the wall. These pearly white, translucent ghosts glided across the room while whispering to each other, paying little attention to these first-year students. They seem to be arguing.
Compared to the freshmen who were scared, Ye Ting was calmer, but he was very interested in the physical state of these ghosts.
Because looking at the various works with a magical world view, only the ghost in “Harry Potter” has a normal mind and is not affected by negative emotions. Except for the fact that it is difficult to influence the reality of matter, they are different from people, they have roughly the same thinking mode as ordinary people, and even have their own society-in contrast, the ghosts in other worldviews are either very low in intelligence. There is no ability to think; either he has hatred in his heart and his thinking mode is very different from that of human beings; or he is eager to be reincarnated and has no nostalgia for reality, and he does not have much joy, anger, sorrow, and joy. All in all, they tend to be inhuman.
Unfortunately, he currently has neither the ability nor sufficient knowledge to study ghosts, but he is still determined that one day in the future, he will study these ghosts carefully.
Now, Ye Ting had to quietly appease the nervous and restless Hermione. Girls always had fear of ghosts.
Then they heard the ghost talking with the freshmen.
“Newborn!” a chubby monk smiled at them. “I think you are probably going to be tested, right?”
Some students nodded silently.
“I hope you can get Hufflepuff!” said the monk, “I went to that college before.”
“Now move forward,” a shrill voice said, “the sorting ceremony is about to begin.”
Professor McGonagall is back. The ghosts wandered in file and disappeared through the opposite wall.
“Now, in a single row,” Professor McGonagall said to the freshman, “follow me.”
Following the crowd, Ye Ting passed a double-opening door and came to a luxurious restaurant.
They had never imagined that there would be such a magical, beautiful and magnificent place. The students in other classes in the college have all been sitting around four long tables. Above the tables, thousands of candles floating in the air illuminate the dining room. On the four tables were glittering gold plates and goblets. There is another long table on the top table of the restaurant, which is the seat of the teachers.
Professor McGonagall brought the first-year freshmen over there and asked them to face all the senior students in a row, with the teachers behind them.

The candlelight flickered in the lobby, and hundreds of faces staring at them looked like pale lanterns. The ghosts were also mixed among the students, shining dimly with silver light.
Looking up, I saw the velvety black ceiling gleaming with stars.
Ye Ting heard Hermione whisper: “The ceiling here has been spelled. It looks like the sky outside. I read about it in Hogwarts, a School History.”
It’s hard to believe that there is a ceiling over there, and it’s hard to believe that the roof of the restaurant is not open.
Professor McGonagall gently put a four-legged stool in front of the freshmen, and put a top wizard hat on the stool. The hat was patched, worn out, and extremely dirty. Ye Ting knew that this was the legendary sorting hat, and he began to look forward to the classic scene—the singing of the sorting hat that changed year by year.
Then, the hat twisted. There was a wide slit in the brim of the hat, like a mouth—the hat began to sing:
You may think I am not pretty.
But don’t judge people by their appearance.
If you can find a more beautiful hat than me.
I can eat myself.
You can make your bowler hats black and shiny.
Make your top silk hats smooth and crisp.
I’m the magic hat for the Hogwarts test.
Naturally taller than your hats.
Any thoughts hidden in your mind.
…
…
The singing lasted about five minutes, and after the magic hat sang the song, the audience thunderous with applause.
However, Ye Ting felt that he really couldn’t appreciate this strange singing, and he thought the applause just now was quite insincere.
The sorting hat bowed to the four dining tables one by one, and then stood still.
The next step is the formal branching.
Professor McGonagall took a few steps forward, holding a roll of parchment in his hand.
“Whoever I call by name now puts on a hat, sits on a stool, and waits for the sorting house.” She said, “Hannah Abbot!”
This was a young girl with a ruddy complexion and two golden braids. Ye Ting remembered that in the original work she finally married Neville.
She stumbled out of the queue and put on her hat, which just covered her restricted eyes.
She sat down, and after a short pause—
“Hufflepuff!” shouted the hat.
The people at the table on the right applauded and cheered Hannah and welcomed her to sit at their table.
“Susan Burns!”
“Hufflepuff!” the hat shouted again. Susan quickly ran to Hannah and sat down.
“Terry Bout!”
“Ravenclaw!”
…
“Hermione Granger.”
After a few names, it was Hermione’s turn. The little girl almost ran to the stool, then looked back nervously.
Ye Ting smiled and nodded at her, her tension eased slightly, and then hurriedly buttoned the hat on her head.
This time, the Sorting Hat did not immediately report to the college, but stuck for two or three seconds, and then reluctantly spit out “Ravenclaw”.
It seemed that Hermione had a conversation with her in her mind, and the little girl successfully convinced her to change her decision.
“Excellent.” Ye Ting clapped excitedly.
This is not only because Hermione was successfully assigned to Ravenclaw, it also means that the “story” is not unchangeable, and it may even mean that the “destiny” represented by the “story” does not exist.
