Chapter 5: Chaotic Night (1)
He walked as calmly as before, and he didn't run into the people who were already making their way to the omega ward to assess the situation. An Alpha in the Omega ward was a serious matter, and their hospital's reputation was at stake, so they must take it seriously.
Spade was unconcerned about how his subordinates would handle the situation. He walked calmly until he was outside. He was soon in front of his car, but he didn't get in right away, instead staring at it for a few minutes before deciding to drive away.
His speed was fast, but he had no idea where he was going. The lingering scent of the omega in his car was enough to drive him insane once and for all. He didn't have a choice but to park somewhere, and he chose the side of the road. He went out almost instantly as soon as he stopped driving. He took a deep breath and tried to relax his nerves and emotions.
He leaned against the side of his car and gazed into the distance. It was a cold and quiet night. He wore a simple casual suit tonight because it wasn't an official event. Because of the unexpected situation, he had already forgotten about his appointment. But he was not disappointed, though. It was suddenly unimportant.
He could reschedule everything, but he had the feeling that what happened tonight might never happen again, or that it was entirely coincidental.
He sighed deeply and closed his eyes for a brief moment. His rationality and calmness were gradually returning. He never imagined the day would come when he would completely lose himself. He was so close. Spade knew that if the omega stayed with him for another minute, his inner beast would take over, regardless of the consequences. Fortunately, he managed to hang on. He didn't commit any mistakes.
As his eyes were shut, he could see the image of that omega. It was very vivid in his memory. With the omega's beautiful face and alluring scent, he admits he was infatuated. The omega caught his attention like no one ever could.
When Spade thought he had calmed down, he pulled out his phone and dialed a number. The call was answered immediately. The Emperor's call was always given priority.
"Your Majesty," the other side saluted respectfully.
Spade didn't beat around the bush and declared his intention.
"I want you to investigate an incident that happened earlier tonight in the bar where I was supposed to have an appointment, everything and any information you get a hold of, I want it all," he said flatly, his tone was sharp and without any room for disagreement.
The other side affirmed, and Spade hung up the call.
His expression became solemn. He had no idea what had happened, and Spade believed he needed confirmation as well as the identity of the omega. Only then could he rest easy and completely calm his heart.
To say it was a coincidence wasn't impossible. His affair was kept private, and no matter how powerful the nobles in any faction were, they couldn't possibly have more power than the Emperor. Spies were not tolerated, and it was a serious crime to spy on the monarch's whereabouts.
Today's event, on the other hand, is far too coincidental to believe. The Emperor's car was accidentally entered by omega in heat, whose affair was unknown to most people. He needed to be sure it was just a coincidence.
The department was highly efficient, and Spade didn't have to wait long before a file with an attached video was sent to his phone. He opened the video first.
Spade had to narrow his eyes to see what was going on in the video because it was dark. There were about a dozen people in the room, but his attention was drawn to the side where he recognized a figure; it was the omega who drove him insane just by his scent.
The video didn't have any sound but he could perceive how the crowd must have been very loud in that room. The omega was laughing at someone on his right side and didn't seem to mind his surroundings as he laughed with whomever he was conversing with. Everyone had things to do, and the video was somewhat chaotic.
Spade's brows knitted as his eyes squinted. He was not pleased in the least with his surroundings. It was no surprise that the omega has such a filthy mouth; it was a peer influence. As he continued to watch, he clicked his tongue in displeasure.
He noticed something later on as the video continued to play. Despite the fact that the video was dark, he was able to notice it. While pausing the video, he narrowed his eyes and focused on that one direction, noticing that someone had placed something in a drink in a professional manner. It happened so quickly that if he wasn't paying attention, he'd probably miss it.
After a while, the omega drank it without realizing it was drugged. The perpetrator simply resumed speaking as if nothing had happened. The omega continued to laugh as if the drug had not yet taken effect, but he called out and unhurriedly informed everyone that he needed to use the restroom.
The video continued, and the camera was in the corridor; the omega walked normally and entered the restroom. Five minutes passed by and the restroom opened with the omega walking again on the dance floor, Spade couldn't see his face because of the blazer in his head.
The omega walked unhurriedly, but unlike before, he swayed in his steps as if drunk. Clearly, the drug had already had an effect on him.
Nobody stopped him from going outside, and he does so successfully. Then the situation changed. It was not even a minute after the omega had left the building. Some suspicious men emerged from the crowd, and they all proceeded to the restroom. The men became agitated when they discovered that no one was in the restroom, as they had expected.
The video ended there. There was no footage of when the omega accidentally entered his car, as that location was not included in the view of any surveillance camera. It was purposefully designed that way. It was also for the same reason that Spade always parked his car there, and Arren went there because his heat was flaring up and he didn't need any attention.
Spades' jaw tightened and his eyes narrowed darkly. His hands gripped the phone a little harder.
He remembered the omega cursing louder about someone in the car earlier. So, he was drugged, and people took action to capture the omega who was in heat as a result of the drug. He reflected on how everything that had occurred had been meticulously planned. That omega? Who was he?
He then exited the video and began reading the document file.
The image of the omega was the first thing he saw. His photograph was most likely taken from his high school identification card. His hair had not yet been dyed blue, it was still black. His hair was a little unruly, but that didn't take away from the fact that his beautiful face stood out regardless of the hairstyle.
"Arren Katz," Spade muttered the name.
The information and the identity of the omega surprised him. Duke Evans Katz's only son. The Duke was a member of the Royal Faction, and it was the faction known as the imperial family's loyalists. The faction was considered the neutral one among the three main factions of the Empire.
Spade, as Emperor, frequently interacted with the Duke. He also knows that the Duke has an only son whom he adores and spoils. Because the Duke was a single father, perhaps he didn't want his son to feel empty after the loss of his mother, so he poured all of his love and attention into his dear son.
It was rumored that his son was an omega, and a rare dominant omega at that. Since his son was presented, many nobles have hinted at a marriage alliance, and he has also learned that his mother is interested. But the Duke refused them all for the reason that he didn't want to interfere with the life of his son, especially with something as important as marriage.
Hearing these rumors revealed how much the Duke adored his son. And to think that his son was targeted and drugged? Spade can already imagine how enraged Duke would be.
Duke Evan was known to be the most neutral of all the Dukes, and not even Duke Ellis, who was also a member of the Royal Faction, was completely neutral. Duke Evan never interfered with the competition in the royal court unless the imperial family's reputation and interests were at stake. Since the establishment of the current empire, the House of Duke Katz had been known as the most loyal sword under the Emperor.
This was also why no one ever provoked this sleeping tiger for no apparent reason. Even if a tiger chose to remain silent, it was still a tiger.
Even thinking about it gave Spade a headache. This incident also gave him a foreboding feeling. He put his phone in his pocket and went silent for a moment. His eyes squinted as he looked into the distance, the night wind howling in his ears, as he watched the city's flickering lights.
His eyes flashed with a sharp glint as he muttered quietly, "It will get lively,"
