The Curse of Time (Harry Potter Fanfic)

Harry Potter

We are in the middle of July, and I have already accomplished so much. First, I spent some time with my family. After that, I was invited to Marie’s house to spend a few days with her.

I then invited her to come with me to South America, where the research group I supported was based. This trip was eye-opening for Marie, as she believed that only our country had wizards, or if other countries had them, they would use magic in the same way as us.

Learning that some had to perform rituals to invoke magic shocked her.

After that, it was time for the annual global thesis competition, and of course, I participated. I didn’t invite Marie this time because I knew that all the theoretical discussions would give her a terrible headache.

I came in third place this time because my thesis was not completely finished. At Hogwarts, you can find information about ancient magic in the library, but not about divine magic used in antiquity.

Am I disappointed that I didn’t come in first? No, because each time I work on a thesis, I learn a lot, and the other competitors also teach me many things.

Today, we had a party at home because we had just received Neville’s admission letter to Hogwarts.

Grandmother was in tears, having believed he would never be accepted due to his small amount of magic.

We decided to go to Diagon Alley on her birthday.

Grandma was so happy that she gave Neville his father’s wand.

"You can’t do that, Grandma. If the wand doesn’t recognize Neville as its master, his abilities will be poor."

"He’s got Frank’s blood, so he should be able to use it properly."

It happens sometimes that a wand recognizes the descendant of its original owner, but father and Neville’s personalities are too different.

"Let’s go to Ollivanders and see if Neville is suited to use this wand. If not, we’ll buy him a new one."

And as expected, father’s wand did not recognize him, so now he has a new wand made of cherry wood with a unicorn hair core. (This is the wand Neville got after the events of the fifth book.)
After that, I went to see Marie so we could do some shopping together, and we even took the opportunity to get some ice cream.

A few days later, I went back to Diagon Alley to pick up some things that were not in the supply list. When I arrived at the Horklump, most people were in full exitation, but I did not take much notice of their drinking, so I continued on my way.

I passed by the windows, knowing exactly where I needed to go, and overheard someone talking about the new Nimbus 2000 broomstick.

When I arrived in front of the bookstore, I recognized Hagrid’s silhouette.

"Hey, Hagrid."

He turned around, along with an eleven-year-old child.

"You didn’t tell me you had a hidden son, Hagrid."

"No, it’s not what you think. I’m taking Harry Potter on his school shopping trip. Harry, this is Evelyn Longbottom. Although she looks young, she is in second year and is the one who oversees the support courses."

"Pleasure to meet you, Harry."

I reached out and shook his hand. He was so thin that a strong gust of wind could probably blow him away.

"E-enchanted."

"Hagrid, I have a favor to ask if you don’t mind."

"I can’t help you right now."

"Don’t worry. If you haven't been to the bookseller yet, I could accompany you? The book I’m looking for is too high for me to reach."

"Oh, if that’s all, I don’t mind."

So we went to the bookstore to buy a book about divine magic.

When Harry saw the book, his eyes widened because he didn’t understand anything.

"Don’t be shocked if you don’t understand anything. It’s rare for people to be able to comprehend this book, and I’m one of the few. On that note, I wish you a good day and hope to see you again at Hogwarts."
