Chapter 25
Chapter 25 A Little Warmth is Enough
Lu Yang said casually,” I had nothing to do, so I’m popping by the kitchen to take a look. Your back view looked especially good under the sunlight, so I took some photos. I’m just bored and trying to find something to do.”
Yun Muxi did not question him anymore. She turned around and continued with what she was doing. Lu Yang returned to the sofa and flipped through the pictures he just took. Although Yun Muxi’s face was not shown, her thin and weak figure sparked his urge to protect her. Her peaceful back view gave off a light refreshing feeling that made others want to know her more.
He flipped to the last photo. It was the only one that showed her face. She was turning her head naturally and casually, with no tint of deliberateness.
Her defined features needed no further enhancements. Although she was not smiling, her beauty was more than enough to behold, especially her big eyes. They were black but bright and were as clear as lake water. They seemed to have the magic power to attract one’s soul.
The mole at the corner of Yun Muxi’s eye was even more extraordinary. It made others feel sorry for her and want to protect her. Her soft pink lips looked so sweet, they were enticing people to have a bite.
Lu Yang had been in the camp for too long, he rarely got the chance to interact with girls. Now that he met a beauty like Yun Muxi, he felt youthful again. He even set this picture as his wallpaper, which was very unlikely of him. Looking at it, his smile grew even brighter.
Yun Muxi served four dishes and one soup in no time. The food was simple but very appetizing. Lu Yang heard Yun Muxi call his name and hastened to the dining table. Looking at the dishes, Lu Yang was very surprised. Nowadays, few girls knew how to cook. Besides, Yun Muxi’s food looked very appetizing. Lu Yang instantly grew fonder of her.
Lu Yang took out his phone to take a picture of the dishes. He seldom updated on social media, but he had the urge to do so today.
He took a photo and was about to open Wechat. Suddenly, his eyes lit up. He turned towards Yun Muxi and asked,” Can I add you as a friend on Wechat? I took some nice photos just now, I’ll send them to you.”
Yun Muxi smiled faintly and said,” Actually, I don’t use it that often.”
Lu Yang smiled. “It’s okay, me too. We have a restriction on phone usage in the camp, we’ll only use it more often when we’re out or back home.”
Yun Muxi nodded and took out her phone to add him as a friend.
Lu Yang clicked onto Yun Muxi’s profile and saw that her profile picture was a very blurry back view that gave off a sorrowful vibe. Yun Muxi’s nickname was “A little warmth is enough” and her biography was “A little warmth is enough, let me be cold-hearted forever! Memories after memories, thoughts after thoughts; reminiscing memories, holding on to thoughts…”
Lu Yang felt a tint of sorrow as he read her biography. With his thick eyebrows furrowed, he glanced at Yun Muxi. Although he did not understand her well, he still felt sorry for her.
Yun Muxi called him with great enthusiasm, “Lu Yang, come and take a seat! Since I don’t have much food materials at home, I can only show my sincerity with a simple meal. Hope you don’t mind!”
Lu Yang broke into a smile,” It’s good enough, and it looks very delicious!”
Both of them had a pleasant meal. Lu Yang was a lively and talkative person, so they had an enjoyable conversation. He was also good at making people laugh; Yun Muxi laughed more than she talked.
He cast away most of the shadow of her hearts.
…
….
After Yun Muxi left, Gong Yu was devastated for a very long time. He was on the ground crying for a good amount of time. Many staff tried to comfort him but their attempts were to no avail as if Gong Yu lost his soul. Eventually, Zhao Yi had no choice but to ask Seventh Brother to take him back.
Seventh Brother rushed to the filming site. Seeing Gong Yu’s devastated state, he felt very sorry for him. Others might not understand, but he truly understood Gong Yu. Others might think that Gong Yu was just having a hard time to get out of his role, since Yun Muxi and he had invested a lot into the scene, so much so that they digested the characters’ emotions to the extreme. However, Seventh Brother knew why Gong Yu was out of control this time. All along, Gong Yu dived into and exited from his role very quickly, this had never happened before.
Seventh Brother ran up to Gong Yu and comforted him gently. Gong Yu’s stiff back began to soften gradually and his emotions became more stable. Following which, Seventh Brother brought him away. After just one scene, Gong Yu felt that his soul had left him and all his energy had been depleted. He even felt like the air in his lungs was sucked away and there were not enough oxygen in his brain.
Gong Yu’s tired body leaned against the seat. He closed his eyes and stayed motionless at the backseat. Seventh Brother threw him a glance and finally asked,” Are you okay? The director said that you were too immersed in your role today and could not come out of it! But I’ve known you for so many years, I know everything about you. Is this because of Xiao Xi?”
Gong Yu heard the two words and his body trembles. Instantly, his eyes darkened. Seventh Brother’s sharp eyes captured this slight change, which confirmed his guess even further.
He asked again, “I do not know what happened between you and Xiao Xi, are you willing to tell me about it? Only know your past can I help you!”
Gong Yu opened his eyes gently and turned his head sideways. He stared outside the window and remained silent. The sorrowful emotions on his face were now kept at the bottom of his heart and his usual cold facial expression had returned.
Every time Seventh Brother asked about Xiao Xi, Gong Yu would avoid the topic like that. He never spoke what he had in mind so that nobody could touch it.
Seventh Brother sighed helplessly. Four years had passed, he knew that he had not entered Gong Yu’s heart completely. This was not because Gong Yu was too cold-hearted but Gong Yu’s pain had sealed himself in darkness. Initially, Seventh Brother thought that Gong Yu had lost his memory. He then realized that he had not forgotten Xiao Xi at all. Instead, he had kept her at the bottom of his heart.
Seventh Brother was not ready to give up so easily. He continued, “Gong Yu, I’ll be ready to listen whenever you feel like telling me about Xiao Xi. After so many years, I’m sure you know me well enough. I really want to help you! If you always button your lips, I really don’t know how to help you!”
Through the mirror, he looked at Gong Yu, who was still staring outside the window with a cold expression. Soon, Seventh Brother spoke in a soft voice, “I will not force you to tell me about it. But now that you’re just starting to develop your career here, you have to adjust yourself and be committed in work. It’s not easy for you to achieve this level of success, don’t ruin your prospects…”
Seventh Brother continued to nag him. Soon, they arrived at the apartment. Along the way, Gong Yu hardly spoke a word! Seventh Brother sighed helplessly and parked the car.
Gong Yu finally straightened up. Just as he was about to get off the car, he spoke quietly, “Seventh Brother, negotiate with the director to let Xiao Xi play the female lead!”
Seventh Brother was dumbfounded by his words. He did not know what happened at the filming site that day; the director had only called to say that Gong Yu was too immersed in his role and was emotionally unstable. He had asked Seventh Brother to bring him back to rest. Hence, Seventh Brother found Gong Yu’s senseless request quite absurd. “Gong Yu, I know that Xiao Xi means something special to you, but she is definitely just a writer! How can she be the female lead just like that? Besides, we don’t own the film crew, so we have no say about such matters! What’s more, how will she be capable in this position?”
Gong Yu spoke in a steady voice, “Xiao Xi will definitely not have any problems. She portrays herself in the movie.”
Seventh Brother was lost. With much confusion, he asked, “What do you mean?”
Gong Yu ignored him and opened the car door. He took a big step off the car and headed for the apartment building.
Gong Yu was exhausted. While his legs were so weak, he felt like he was walking on cotton. However, he was walking at a very fast pace. Soon, he arrived at the door.
Seventh Brother was stunned for a moment. He scratched his head and with much annoyance, he looked towards Gong Yu, who was already far away. Given no choice, he quickly got off the car and chased after him.
Back in the room, Gong Yu plunged himself onto the bed. A white puppy jumped onto the bed excitedly, wagging its little tail. Its pinkish little tongue started licking Gong Yu’s face with affection.
Gong Yu stretched out his long arms to cuddle the puppy. He closed his eyes and the puppy quieted down instantly while lying in his embrace obediently.
Seventh Brother glanced at the scene and spoke in a soft voice, “Take a rest, I’ll cook for you. After dinner, you should have a good sleep.”
Seventh Brother waited for a few seconds and did not get a reply from Gong Yu. Helplessly, he walked towards the kitchen. After some hustling, he cooked up three dishes and a soup. When he went to the bedroom, he saw that Gong Yu was already deep in sleep.
Gong Yu was not having a good sleep. His eyebrows were furrowed tightly and he was pressing his lips. Fatigue and pain were written all over his face. He held the little puppy tightly in his arms and it fell asleep in his embrace. Seventh Brother felt bad for Gong Yu, so he did not wake him up. After covering him with a blanket, he left a note on the dining table and left.
Gong Yu was really exhausted. He took a very long nap. In his dreams, he was entangled in fragments of different dreams that were all about arguing with Xiao Xi. Although it was a bad dream, Gong Yu did not want to wake up. At least he could see Xiao Xi in his dreams, and have close contact with her. Just like that, Gong Yu allowed himself to be tortured by the sleep demon and was swallowed into a whirlwind of blackness…
Suddenly, Gong Yu cried out, “Xiao Xi…”
Gong Yu finally woke up from his nightmare. Swiping away the sweat on his forehead, he took a deep breath. He heard the puppy shouting in the living room. But after listening closely, he realized that someone was knocking furiously on the door.
Gong Yu turned to look at the time on his phone. It was “00.15”. He wondered who could it be at such a late hour. Seventh Brother had the keys and he did not have other friends. Besides, he just moved here, so nobody knew that he lived here. Confused, he furrowed his eyebrows and thought deeply. A possible thought flashed past his mind…
