The Beast Tamer Is A Slime

Chapter 26: “Entering The Human World”

"Charlie, are you okay?" John quickly took the boy's backpack even though he was also wearing a huge backpack.

Remy and Lina tried to cheer up the teenager while Daniel secretly cursed at those inspectors.

"These people are really— why are they so strict? Charlie is still a child!"

Daniel sympathized with Charlie, but Tom just looked at the boy with a sneer, not trying to comfort him at all.

After the group of hunters surrounded Charlie and made sure he was fine, they slowly parted ways.

Tom was the first to leave, but to everyone's surprise, Charlie didn't leave the group at all.

"That..."

Before Charlie could make an excuse, John immediately helped him to lie to his teammates.

"Sorry guys, after leaving the zone, I have to go somewhere. I can't go with you guys to the usual place."

John smiled at his teammates apologetically.

"I need to prepare to level up, and I need Charlie to help with something, so…this kid is coming with me." John patted Charlie's shoulder, looking like a close friend.

The three teammates were stunned at the news, but knowing that John was indeed in a critical period to level up, they didn't hold him back anymore.

"Okay, then. Let's go out of first and we can separate."

The three people walked ahead, followed by John and Charlie not far behind.

As for Tom, he was already a few meters in front of the others.

While the hunters were walking out of the [Dungeon Zone], the little cockroach inside the cylinder tube couldn't help but make a sound in their "group chat".

[Hello, hello? Anybody home? Can I leave the tube now? Should I separate from you hooman and reunite later, or what?]

The moment John and Charlie heard Neo's milky voice, their tense bodies subconsciously relaxed.

They let out a sigh in unison.

[Ah...thank God…you are okay.]

John felt like he was aging ten years within seconds.

The man couldn't help but squeeze Charlie's backpack that he was hugging.

[Ancestor, do you know how worried I was? I thought those people would simply kill a cockroach like you!]

If that happened, it would be game over.

Charlie also nodded at John's words while rubbing his eyes, trying to hold back his tears.

[I-it was so scary...I-I couldn't do anything...]

Charlie was afraid that if Neo died, he would also die with his "master"!

The two hunters were so exhausted from the tug-of-war against the inspectors just now that after the rant, they didn't want to talk to the slime anymore.

Neo, who was ignored by his own tamed beasts, could only pout and wait for Charlie to open a little gap in his backpack's Zipper before peeking at the outside world through the gap.

Neo thought that he would see a strange world, but apart from [The Gate] that obviously looked magical and the security line full of strange advanced technology...

What he saw was no different from his original world.

The street they were passing through looked like an ordinary small street.

But…this street was too silent, like a dead street.

There were only the six hunters and the other six guards on the entire street.

[Hooman, why is this place so empty?] Neo couldn't help but ask, and Charlie, who was still sobbing quietly, suddenly perked up.

[T-that's because this street is a dungeon zone!]

Wherever there was [The Gate], all places in radius 1-3 kilometers from [The Gate] would be vacated and turned into the so-called [Dungeon Zone].

[The dungeon zone is a highly restricted place that only awakened people can enter, ] John added, not wanting to let Charlie outshine him in front of his "master".

[Anyway, this street only looks empty, but it's actually packed, you know.]

John pointed at a random two-story building and couldn't help but lower his voice even though he was speaking through telepathy.

[There are patrol guards living here, and there are also private markets for those patrol guards.]

These patrol guards were sent by various powerhouses to strictly guard the [Dungeon Zone], so that [Dungeon Break] would never happen.

Still, in case a [Dungeon Break] happened, the guards would be the frontline fighters against rampaging dungeon beasts.

—Fifteen minutes later—

World District 9, Slime City, South Commercial Street

The moment the hunters left the [Dungeon Zone] that was blocked with an invisible barrier, the hustle and bustle of a big city immediately poured in.

Cars and buses passed through the wide road.

Various Billboard screens on tall buildings showed videos and promotion photos of good-looking awakened hunters.

Street food vendors and shops were open for passersby.

Here, hunters and ordinary people blended into one.

At a glance, there were actually more ordinary people than hunters!

Neo had never seen such a lively scene for almost a day, and he couldn't help but tear up—

If the cockroach could cry, of course.

When the six hunters stepped foot into the bustling crowd, some ordinary people around them noticed these people who "appeared" out of thin air.

These people's clothes were dusty, full of holes and stained with strange mucus. They even brought a huge worn-out backpack with them.

The six hunters did look miserable, but the ordinary people in the crowds subconsciously stared at them with bright eyes.

"Look, look, are they awakened hunters? They appeared out of thin air!"

"They must have come out of the [Dungeon Zone]."

"So cool...that area...is that a slime dungeon zone?"

"Yes, yes! Damn, I'm so jealous. I also want to be a hunter!"

Some young men and women openly whispered about the six hunters while taking pictures and videos with their phone.

These young people all looked at the hunters with awe and deep longing.

For them, these hunters were the modern-day superheroes!

Neo, who had not seen a lot of human beings for a whole day, suddenly saw such an enthusiastic crowd.

He immediately hid behind the slime corpses while screaming.

[Wah— help! So many hoomans! Is— Is this the legendary safe zone or something?]
