Chapter 524: Chapter 523: The Egyptian god of Death, Set
"I believe she is the legendary princess, and hieroglyphs indicate that she murdered her father," Jenny said.
"Murdered?" Nick exclaimed.
"Yes, along with her father's children," Jenny continued. "She made some kind of deal with the god of death, Set."
Seeing Nick's distracted demeanor, Jenny continued, "No matter what I'm trying to convey, everything that should happen is happening."
"I don't know how you're still alive," she added apologetically, "Sorry, Nick, I think we've angered God."
However, as Jenny spoke, Nick saw Ferrel beside him, saying, "You, come with me!"
It seemed like nobody else could see Ferrel except for Nick.
After a moment of contemplation, Nick spoke up, "Mind if I excuse myself for a moment? I'll be right back."
Regardless of Jenny's reaction, Nick followed Ferrel towards the direction of the restroom.
Seeing Nick's unusual behavior, Jenny immediately picked up the phone and dialed a number.
"Hello, please speak."
"It's Jenny, get me Henry Jekyll."
Inside the British SHIELD branch office, a man picked up the phone.
"Jenny."
Jenny spoke urgently, "This is a more serious problem than we imagined. Something has happened."
"Nick, he has somehow come back to life, and he has no injuries. The rescue team said there was no sign of life when they found his body."
"Henry, I'm really worried about him."
Henry's voice remained steady as he said, "Bring him to London, and don't engage with him too much."
"Understood?"
At that moment, in a spot at Jenny's table in the bar, sat two men dressed in black and red cloud robes.
The two men were none other than Hidan and Itachi Uchiha.
Their peculiar attire and Hidan's weapon did not seem to raise any eyebrows among the bar patrons, as Itachi had already used genjutsu to alter their perceptions.
Itachi looked at Hidan and asked, "Do you know about the death god Set?"
Hidan leaned back in his chair, looking up at the ceiling lights, and said, "That's the Egyptian death god, how would I know?"
"I worship the evil god."
"I haven't heard much about these local gods, let alone understand them."
Hidan then sat up straight and looked at Itachi, "Itachi, the Set Dagger they mentioned earlier is the treasure that Lord Charles needs, isn't it?"
"As for the coffin you stored earlier, it might not be useful."
Itachi, with an impassive expression, looked at Hidan and said, "As long as we bring the Set Dagger to Lord Charles, nothing else matters."
"How do we find it?" Hidan asked.
"Just follow her. I believe they will bring the Set Dagger to us," Itachi replied.
…
At this moment, Nick entered the restroom and looked around, but he didn't see Ferrel anywhere. Finally, he saw Ferrel's reflection in the mirror above the sink.
"What are you doing here?" Nick asked.
Ferrel chuckled, "Jenny seems like a nice person."
Nick closed his eyes and muttered, "This isn't real."
But Ferrel continued, "I mean it, she's really nice."
Nick opened his eyes and looked at Ferrel, "Enough, stop it."
Ferrel looked at Nick and said, "You should know, I always thought I had a chance with her."
"What?" Nick exclaimed in surprise.
Ferrel continued, "How could you waste that opportunity?"
Still thinking he was hallucinating, Nick started analyzing the situation to himself, "There was mercury in that tomb, toxic gas..."
Ferrel shouted, "How did you mess things up?"
"They made me hallucinate," Nick continued.
"No, that's not it," Ferrel retorted. "You shot me."
Hearing Ferrel's words, Nick froze for a moment, then walked to the other side of the mirror and pointed at Ferrel, "Hold on, hold on, hold on... it is really you..."
"You're Ferrel."
However, when Nick reached the other side of the mirror, he still didn't see Ferrel's reflection. Instead, Ferrel appeared where Nick had just stood.
Nick made a motion as if to attack with a knife, "It was you... you stabbed Colonel."
"I saved you, and you killed him," he accused.
But Ferrel retorted, "You shot me."
"But you wanted to kill me, you even wanted to pursue Jenny," Nick yelled back.
"You fired three shots at me."
"Three shots, Nick."
"That's right, the third shot was unnecessary," Nick admitted.
"You scared me, I was nervous, I apologize, okay?" he pleaded.
"Not okay."
"Look at me, look at my face. I've been cursed, Nick, and so have you."
"There's only one way to break the curse. You have to do what she wants you to do."
"Otherwise, both of us will suffer even more."
Nick was confused and asked, "What do you mean I've been cursed?"
"How do you think you survived the plane crash?" Ferrel asked.
"Reach out your hand, you should understand what that means."
"You're part of her plan, Nick."
"A plan?" Nick questioned.
"You can't escape it, you have no way out..."
Nick looked at the mysterious markings appearing on his palm and angrily stormed out of the bar.
However, as soon as he reached the back alley of the bar, Nick felt something was wrong. Suddenly, countless rats appeared on the ground, crawling towards him and jumping onto his body.
In the midst of the swarm of rats, a mummified figure appeared, approaching him.
Seeing this sudden turn of events, Nick tried to run back into the bar, but found that the back door wouldn't open.
With no other option, Nick tried to move in another direction, only to be overwhelmed by the rats crawling all over him, knocking him to the ground.
Just as the mummy was about to attack him, Nick was suddenly pulled to the side of the road by Jenny.
The mummy in front of him turned into a car, narrowly avoiding hitting Nick.
The driver cursed, "Get out of the way, idiot!"
Looking at the man she had pulled to the side of the road, Jenny shouted, "Nick, what are you doing?"
Nick, looking at the now-normal street, felt bewildered. Then he looked at Jenny and said seriously, "I think you're right. We've angered god."
Jenny, hearing Nick's sudden change in demeanor, was taken aback. "Wait, what?"
Nick raised his hands and said, "I saw her, the woman in the coffin."
