Chapter 66 – I, and Hoshino Ai Part 4
Edited by The Darkest Knight#4796
After all the treatment and care were over, I was taken home. It was even more pleasant for me because although there were various spirits at home, the number was certainly not as many as in the hospital. Especially in contrast to the hospital, at least I already knew the location and what the spirits were like at home compared to the hospital.
After all the things I've been thinking about that happened this week. Things that made me wonder if I should really be honest with Ruby and Ai. Ultimately, I still kept secrets from them, especially why I wanted to help Azki and Roboco. Because even though I never knew them or could say they were completely different people. I still knew about them and certainly didn't want anything bad to happen to them.
Because it is difficult to explain the possibility of explaining that they are V-tubers or in the future that they are characters from manga and anime in my past life and the like, which feels like one of the biggest secrets that might be hard to talk about, no, I probably won't ever tell someone because that would probably be the weirdest thing to come out of someone's mouth.
The thing I might talk about might be the starry eyes that various people, including Ruby and Ai, have and the danger because there is a psychopath who is after them.
Then what we will do is take talent from other companies. There's not much I can do because, basically, business things like this are commonly done by Miyako. The same thing happened with this matter, but it wouldn't hurt to talk to Ai for a bit.
"Sorry, although this may be selfish, taking both girls is difficult. Even so, I still want them both."
Therefore I said that as Ai's expression hardened slightly, and she looked at me with a puzzled face before once again letting out a long sigh. Even for a mother who spoiled her child, Ai really didn't like what I wanted to do.
"Yes, okay— I feel like I already agree with that, but I feel curious as to why you are so adamant with them." Once again, Ai asked a similar question which showed how important this question was to her.
"I don't know why, but I think there is a reason why I got this kind of power in that place. Then, to be honest, seeing those two reminded me of you, Mom. After seeing what happened to the Spirit in that place. There's no way I would let them suffer the same fate as the spirits." I may not be able to tell her everything I'm hiding, but at least I can be honest to some degree.
"Is that so?" When Ai heard that, her face softened a bit. "So are you saying you want to save them like me— Well, if you say it like that— I don't think I can say no—" She continued.
"Un— This might be a strange thing to say. But even so, they may not have the same pedigree as you as an idol. There is something similar between them and you." I said, thinking that one of the reasons was because you are all people I knew in my past life, although not face-to-face.
There is one thing that can be said to be the same among them in my mind, and that is my desire to see them shine as brightly as the stars in the sky.
"You know, like you, they have eyes that twinkle like stars. That's one thing I like about you, Mom. Because when you perform on stage, your eyes sparkle so brightly that everyone is mesmerized and can't look away from you. Therefore, even though they might not be as bright as you, at least I want to give them a chance to shine instead of letting them fade away in a place like that."
"Aha, that's quite embarrassing but I feel happy." Ai looked up at me with that vague notion lingering on her face. As if she was recalling something, and she suddenly got bashful. "So you want to save them, huh?"
"Yeah."
"Well, Miyako and I will do our best."
"That's good— Ah, honestly, I'm also starting to think about the spirit in that building."
"Hm? What about them?"
"I feel like I can't let them just be."
"So, do you want to do something about them?"
"I want to, but it feels like a dangerous one. Ah, I think I can try with the closest one."
I said those words while thinking of the Spirit that attacked me.
The Spirit that was in the bathroom and the little Spirit, too, the Spirit that actually attacked and touched me. It made me think that there was an opportunity for me to have something that could be said to communicate and the like to that Spirit.
Because even though it's a bit dangerous, at least I have a history of being able to fight the Spirit and practically drive it away from trying to control my body. In other words, the only Spirit that I was confident enough to overcome. Especially when I could feel that my strength was a little stronger than before, thanks to Ruby.
"Hm— What are you thinking right now? I think I feel like you are thinking something bad, like trying something alone." Ai said as her eyes wandered and poked my cheek several times. The unspoken meaning was: So I'd rather you not do something dangerous, while she playfully ignored my remark.
"Well, I'm thinking of returning to the bathroom again and looking at the spirits again."
When Ai heard my words, her expression became strained.
"You idiot! Isn't that dangerous!?" Ai said while looking at my fractured arm.
"Yes, I think so. But I won't get better if I don't do anything." I answered Ai, who had a look of disapproval on her face, but she nodded slowly.
"That's maybe true— but I can't let you do it alone, and I don't want Ruby to do something dangerous. In other words, only I can help and keep an eye on what's happening." Ai said, and I didn't know why, but it felt like she was quite eager to do it.
"It will be dangerous for you too, you know and usually, aren't you afraid of this kind of stuff?"
"Well, nothing scarier for me than seeing you hurt!" Ai said with such strong conviction. This is why it wasn't long before the two of us were already in the bathroom, and surprisingly I didn't feel the Spirit's presence.
Only a few seconds later did I know why when I recalled my encounter with Spirit. Because some spirits only appear under certain circumstances, and this one will only appear in this bathroom when I use it for bathing.
This is something that's easy to handle since I can just take off my clothes and cover my body with a towel if I'm healthy. This time, I had a problem with my hand hurting, so I needed help from Ai.
Only, she looked so excited that she even whispered to me that it had been a long time since she had bathed me. Well, of course, I responded, 'What are you saying, Mom?'
Ai pouted and just said that she just wanted to pamper herself and me after a long time and told me to enjoy myself while following me to the bathroom, and she wore a sporty swimsuit and told me that with this, she could move more freely in the bathroom even though her body would get wet.
Ai herself was a bit petite, but her body was still mature. And honestly, after kissing Ruby in the hospital, I couldn't help being more aware of Ai than usual, which made me feel a bit pleased to see her in the swimsuit.
Ugh, wait— I need to focus and throw away my earthly desire.
Hah— I wonder if this will be alright.
