Chapter 15
15th Chapter. I Can’t Be the Only One Suffering (4)
“How can you speak like that! And yet you claim to be a student of Aligieri Academy!”
On the second floor of the Unique Hall of Professors, a voice filled with rage echoed.
Despite being a human voice, it sounded like the roar of a monster.
The voice of the first-year Combat Department professor, Radian Bersearn, was akin to thunder.
The student hearing it up close would have been terrified, but the student did not shrink back and retorted.
“This is quite the spectacle. I didn’t realize this academy was so full of itself that it would ignore a student’s requests!”
“Y-You brat!”
The student who stood tall in defiance despite the voice’s ferocity was Travell Viole, a member of Class A in the Combat Department.
Radian’s face, already ablaze with anger, twisted grotesquely.
At a glance, it seemed like Travell was bravely protesting against a tyrant professor, but this needed a different perspective.
“How can the lives of those pathetic bloodlines be prioritized over mine?”
“What, w-what?”
Travell had been dragged here because of his insults directed at the academy staff. It was just a monologue, yet it had unfortunate timing and was overheard by Radian.
His comments included not only Radian’s name but also the Principal’s—speaking ill of the academy’s highest authority was not something one could just brush off.
The greatest magic institute of the Empire, Aligieri Academy.
To gossip about the name of Principal ‘Kaiden Jodiatz’ was akin to insulting the might of the Empire.
What did it matter what status Travell held?
“You really know how to make a big deal out of nothing.”
Originally, Radian didn’t intend to raise his voice.
Being in a position that respected Principal Kaiden, he thought he could just let it slip after a few words of scolding.
After all, very few students could withstand his thunderous voice for long.
“Pathetic bloodlines? You dare utter that here at this academy?”
Once that remark was made, it was impossible to overlook it.
The tension in the air was so thick it felt like reason was about to snap.
“Don’t get it twisted! Here, status doesn’t matter! This is your last chance. Apologize now, and I won’t put it in your record.”
“……”
Once that was said, the student had no choice but to obey the professor’s words.
No matter how much his father was loved, there was no way he could overlook a red mark going on his record.
“I’m sorry…”
In the end, Travell knelt down. His fists trembled and his lips bled from biting them so hard.
“I’ve wanted to ask this for a while—why are you so obsessed with Lyman and Jenny?”
“……”
As silence lingered, Travell found himself unable to speak.
Seeing that situation continuing, Radian decided further conversation was pointless and dismissed him.
The root of Travell’s grievance against the Principal lay with his classmates.
He was the youngest of the Viole Marquess family. Regardless of the circumstances, he had been raised royally since childhood.
Instead of learning morals, he had been surrounded by nobles who only taught him to belittle those beneath him, creating an arrogant attitude.
His obsession with Jenny was not merely due to arrogance.
The Chain Silver family of Jenny and Travell’s Viole family had been rivals for ages.
Growing up hearing his father and other nobles speak of “those lowly Chain Silvers,” it was only natural he’d provoke her when he encountered a Chain Silver bloodline at the academy.
For Travell, it was a given. He found it odd that anyone should scold him.
“Damn it…!”
Exiting the Unique Hall, Travell felt angry toward Radian.
A flame of distrust ignited within him toward an academy that disregarded a student’s views like old rags!
“What does it matter to the academy if the opinions of students are disregarded?”
He also loathed Lyman for always interfering when he tried to stir trouble with Jenny.
Especially recalling the humiliation from the practical exam, he sincerely wanted to eliminate him. He had even attempted to get him suspended for what happened, but it fell through.
Smack!—
Overcome with anger, Travell kicked a nearby tree.
Since entering the academy, nothing had gone his way.
The impact of his kick shook the tree, causing a fruit to drop directly onto Travell’s head.
“What the hell…!”
With a bump forming on his head, blood rushed to his face. He was just about to bang his head against the tree.
“Thank you for coming this far, Sir Transh.”
“Don’t mention it.”
A familiar voice broke through. Halting his spontaneous outburst, Travell made his way towards the sound.
There stood Jenny Chain Silver, with her long blue hair, speaking with a knight and a maid. Travell crouched, straining to listen.
“Is the Silver Age rampaging again?”
“I’m truly sorry…”
“I’ve brought the medicine. Please don’t overexert yourself.”
“Thank you, Catena. Always so helpful.”
As their conversation continued… Travell gleaned several facts.
Those people were a knight and maid of the Chain Silver family, discussing the Silver Age and its rampages, and…
“I’m worried about that day’s return. When the lady lost her life to a Lycanthrope, the young lady fell into great despair… I felt like I wanted to die too.”
“So please be careful in the future.”
“I understand. Sir Transh, Catena…”
Travell’s lips curved into a crescent moon as he overheard the entire conversation.

“Finally, it’s complete. The spell to control the Silver Age!”
In a lavish dorm room, the magic circle sparkled. Mary Ryudshiel was satisfied as she looked at her creation.
It was a freezing attribute sealing spell created from staying up for two nights straight.
A collection of lights, visualizing a spell that was supposed to be formless. Once injected into a body, it would greatly restrict the manifestation of freezing attributes.
Controlling mana itself is a concept that even high-ranking wizards struggle to implement.
Several spells needed to be multi-cast in complex combinations, and that could only be done by someone born with that talent.
There might be few across the entire continent, but Mary was one of them.
She was the only wizard in this academy capable of creating such a spell.
However, the mana that needed controlling was the Silver Age—a power originally belonging to the first head of the Chain Silver family, which could not be bound with ordinary sealing spells.
Thus, several materials were necessary, and the remnants of that mana extracted from Radon Crawler were precisely what she needed.
“I’ll have to repay our friend once more, won’t I?”
Mary accomplished a ritual that even the professors deemed impossible all on her own. Just that alone showed how talented she was.
Many would think she had inherited the capabilities of her father, the Archmage Heyes Ryudshiel.
“Now, I just need to store this safely.”
Saying that, Mary pulled out a small capsule.
She absorbed the formula she created into the capsule. Soon, a swirling blue pill was born.
Since its surface was translucent, the bluish mana was easily visible. It seemed like a blue galaxy was contained within the capsule.
“All I need to do is give it to Jenny, and everything will be solved!”
With excitement, Mary dove onto her bed.
She wanted to applaud herself for all the hard work and later express her gratitude to Radon.
If it weren’t for the discord between Radon and Jenny, they could have become closer friends. What a shame.
“Oh right! Nobel Records!”
She suddenly recalled the gift she received from Radon.
How does he know my hobbies so well! Mary held up two newly acquired Nobel Records.
[You and My Tico]
[The King of the Locker Room]
Just looking at the titles, she couldn’t gauge what they were about. Wasn’t it supposed to be a healing story that mends the heart?
She claimed to have watched it until she was fed up… Regardless, isn’t this an incredible stroke of luck? You can’t just kick away gems that rolled in for free!!
“Then… may you have a comfortable night…”
She laid down the two records beneath her bed. Then, hugging a teddy bear, her eyes began to close.
‘(Soft Snoring)’
A smile bloomed on her sleeping face.
Although her small build was unrelated to her age, there was no denying she looked like an angel while sleeping peacefully.
However…
“Ugh… Ugh…!”
The young girl’s complexion suddenly twisted, melting away.
Her eyes shot open, eyebrows furrowed, and she began grinding her teeth as if terrified.
“Ugh… Grrrr…”
What kind of dream was she having? Soon, she was sweating cold, her breath heavy.
What she had thought would be a quiet and peaceful night…
“AAAHH!! My eyes! My eyes! My heeaaaad!!”
It was like she was trapped in a torturous nightmare. For three hours, she writhed like a possessed creature.
Even with the blood of an archmage, it didn’t mean she was free from magical resistance.

The status screen had changed quite a bit since the first time I saw it. The result of using stat points acquired through proficiency.
I decided to allocate the stat point I just acquired to ‘Mana.’
It was extremely gratifying, yet… at the same time, I felt a twinge of fear.
‘Somehow, I think Mary will come for revenge.’
I knew full well how dreadful that record was.
I could envision Mary rushing at me the next day, her eyes full of rottenness, and unleashing my elemental magic to rain down on me.
It would be strange if she didn’t get furious after I deceived her and gifted her that perilous nuisance.
Of course, it wouldn’t mean she’d kill me, but it would surely hurt like hell.
Should I consider it the price for obtaining such a bombardment of rewards?
Well, whatever. This solidified my break with her, and now I could leisurely watch the main plot unfold from a distance.
Sorry for making your eyes rot, Mary.
Apologies for breaking your ribs, Jenny.
And Lyman… hang in there until the end! I’ll be watching over you till the conclusion!
