Chapter 1700: Fortune’s Call. 1
"Did you enjoy the show?"
Vajra widened his eyes in horror as Nux turned his head towards him.
'How…?'
He couldn't understand.
That newbie shouldn't be able to see him.
Even if he was somehow able to sense him, there were around 50 people in the street he was standing in.
Ever since all of this started, Vajra never followed Nux like the ten of them, since the start, he had always stayed here, never even directing his Aura or Energy in the newbie's direction.
To the newbie, he should have been just like any other passerby whom he wouldn't even remember. Just another man standing on the street, minding his own business.
But to think this newbie would stare back at him…
And honestly, seeing what he just did and how effortlessly he killed the 10 of them, Vajra was now fearing for his life.
Especially when he saw that smile on the newbie's face.
And the newbie's next words only made him even more scared.
"You shouldn't peek into someone else's business.
One might think you are somehow involved."
"!!!"
Vajra widened his eyes, his body trembled. He feared that the newbie had misunderstood that he was in this together with them and he wanted to clear the misunderstanding.
However, the moment he raised his head, wanting to clarify, he realized that Nux had already disappeared.
'I-Is he coming for me?'
Vajra stuttered.
It was very much possible, that man was so fast that he couldn't even react to his speed if he decided to come here, it wouldn't take him more than a few seconds.
In an instant, Vajra's mind started working, trying to figure out a way to get out of this situation with his life intact.
The chances were slim, but he didn't wish to give in.
He didn't survive on the cold and dangerous battlefield with a weak mentality, therefore, overcoming his fear, his mind started thinking about the possible solutions.
First was to return to his team, he stood a chance if he was with his teammates, however, with Nux's speed, Vajra wasn't sure if he could outrun him.
He needed to think of another way.
Of course, while the man was facing the crisis and was trying to figure out a way to stay alive,
The reason he was in such a vigilant state was simply walking on the street, not even thinking about the man he had scared shitless.
Nux had just warned the guy because he didn't like how he was keeping an eye on him all this while.
He had no reason to go for that man and make his life difficult, especially after he got what he wanted.
Honestly, with how much he had gained, he was secretly happy that the Skeleton and his gang decided to attack him.
The skeleton was a rat. He had spent thousands of years in Nexus, so he knew quite a lot about this place.
Yes, the man wasn't lying when he said he could guide him.
And through his memories, Nux didn't just learn about how most things worked in Nexus and the common sense usually followed in this world, he also learned quite a lot about different races that are mostly seen here and their abilities.
Yes, the Skeleton wasn't just some rat, before being a rat, he was also an active mercenary who had worked in different worlds, however, because of his lack of skills, life got more and more difficult for him before he finally decided to settle down in Nexus, where many Laws that could bound him didn't exist and lived like this.
Because of that, the Skeleton knew a lot.
Nux was actually surprised to find out that he knew about more than a thousand different races.
Of course, he didn't have detailed information about all of them, however, at the very least, he now knew what he could expect from here on out.
Honestly, what Nux thought would take him days, he achieved that all within a few minutes.
'As I thought, attracting attention was an efficient way.'
He thought to himself.
Then, he started walking towards a certain building, a building he saw in Skeleton's memories.
Fortune's Call.
A perfect name for a place that wishes to hire mercenaries. After all, what does a mercenary want more than wanting to make it big and reap all the rewards?
Without thinking anything anymore, Nux walked in.
The place looked like just any other mercenary hub one would expect, people drinking and talking loudly, some browsing through the bulletin, wanting to find an appropriate mission, some wanting to report the success of their mission.
Nux quickly walked towards a counter where a three-eyed female with orange skin and voluptuous breasts sat.
Seeing Nux approaching her, the woman smiled,
"A new face, eh?
That's good, I was definitely getting bored of watching all the old ones here."
She looked around as if wanting to taunt everyone present here. Some ignored her while others directed their gazes at Nux.
"I want a mission."
Nux replied.
"Straight to business huh? I thought you would be a bit mo-"
"Mission."
Nux reminded, making it clear that he was in no mood for small talk.
The woman stared at him for a while, frowning.
This man was too rude.
Honestly, seeing his face, she wanted to talk to him for a bit longer, however, seeing his behaviour, she lost interest and pointed at the bulletin.
"See that over there? All the missions are there, choose whatever you like and do it."
She didn't even bother telling him about other basic things like the difficult rank of the missions and whatnot.
Yes, for the first time in a long while, Nux's face didn't affect a woman. Or maybe it was because the beauty perception in this place was skewed, after all, a place that catered to thousands of beings of different races with completely different physical and biological features, it was difficult to have a standard of beauty.
"I don't like the missions there. I was told I need to come to you to get the special missions."
Nux spoke.
Hearing those words, the woman momentarily paused before staring at him.
"You seemed like someone who wasn't interested in conversation just now."
