Chapter 71: Murong Xingchen
Jin Gang and Lone Eye followed behind Qi Bei as he slowly walked toward the Western City District.
“Lord, I still don’t understand. Since we have already taken care of Star Mercenary Corps, the largest military force of Starfall, why don’t we just directly attack Starfall’s headquarters and sweep through their various strongholds?” Lone Eye had been holding his doubts in his heart for a long time and couldn’t help but ask.
“Starfall is different from Blood Wolves. Blood Wolves is essentially a tribal force relying on the management of the Orc Empire. We just need to kill the Blood Wolf King and put a new leader in charge, then this force will be under our control. But Starfall is different. Its structure is more complex. Even if we kill the Star Master, we still cannot control Starfall. Even if we send my two hundred men to sweep through Starfall’s various strongholds, it is not practical. As long as there is resistance, my men will suffer casualties. And besides, there is a more mysterious shadow in West Spirit City.” Qi Bei shook his head.
“But now, I have the three elven girls that the Star Master values and I also have the entire Star Mercenary Corps under my control. If we negotiate with the Star Master now, we will have enough bargaining chips. If Starfall cooperates with me, I will lead and dominate the distribution of benefits. And…” Qi Bei was still speaking when he stopped abruptly.
Entering the Western City District, Qi Bei seemed to have entered another world. Everywhere there were houses collapsed under the heavy snow and the sound of weeping.
The slums in the Golden Leaf Empire were heaven compared to here. At least, there was a place to shelter even if the yard was in ruins.
In Western City District, many people’s homes were just shacks made of a few pieces of wood, unable to withstand such a heavy snowstorm.
As Qi Bei walked, he saw more than a hundred frozen bodies. The sense of satisfaction from his successful strategy was instantly suppressed by the heaviness in his heart.
“Is this my territory? Someday, I will make this place a paradise that everyone desires.” Qi Bei thought to himself.
He found the clinic where Doctor Murong was located. It was already overcrowded.
Standing at the door, Qi Bei saw Doctor Murong, who was sitting in a wheelchair, wearing a veil, and covered from head to toe. She wore a pair of black gloves and was feeding medicine to a two or three-year-old girl. Her eyes, like starry skies, shimmered with a kind of radiance that made people feel holy.
Could she really be the Star Master? Qi Bei hesitated about his initial judgment.
Qi Bei’s arrival quickly drew the attention of everyone present. His clothing and aura were out of place in this environment.
Some patients lowered their eyes with a sense of inferiority, while others glared at him with anger.
It was obvious that Qi Bei was not there to seek medical treatment, so he must have come for Doctor Murong. Previously, some men were captivated by her beautiful eyes and pleasant voice and would often harass her. However, these men usually never appeared again the next day, so some people speculated that there were strong individuals secretly protecting her.
Doctor Murong glanced at Qi Bei and then focused on healing the young girl without being disturbed by him. After she was finished, she proceeded to treat other patients and distribute medicines.
Qi Bei stood there for two hours watching her quietly without disturbing her. Finally, she finished her work and there were no new patients coming in.
“I’m Qi Bei Nord.” Qi Bei finally spoke up when no one was around.
Doctor Murong’s body stiffened, and a trace of dark energy appeared in her beautiful eyes, but it disappeared just as quickly.
“Come upstairs with me,” She said crisply, then turned around and went upstairs in the wheelchair.
Qi Bei followed her up, while Lone Eye and Jin Gang stood outside the door like two pillars.
The second floor was obviously her bedroom. Although it was simple, it was clean and filled with a faint floral fragrance.
“Should I address you as Doctor Murong or the Star Master?” Qi Bei pulled up the bamboo chair from a corner and sat down without being polite.
“You can call me Murong Xingchen.” Murong Xingchen said lightly. Indeed, this was her name, and Starfall was named after her. (TL: Xing = star)
“Murong Xingchen? What a beautiful name.” Qi Bei praised. He had not expected her to be so straightforward. It seemed that she was a smart person, and dealing with smart people was effortless and stress-free, of course, provided that both parties had similar intentions.
Murong Xingchen stared at Qi Bei and said, “Are Yan Ling and the girls all right?”
“They’re fine. In fact, they’re doing great, they eat so much every day, I’m almost broke.” Qi Bei laughed. At the same time, he felt a strange feeling. It was as if he was chatting with a friend. When she asked about the three girls, her tone did not sound like she was questioning him, but rather like she was asking about a friend’s recent situation.
“It seems I underestimated you.” Murong Xingchen said softly.
“No, you just care too much.” Qi Bei shrugged.
“Well, it seems our Star Mercenary Corps has failed. That’s fine. Just tell me your conditions,” Murong Xingchen didn’t wait for Qi Bei to speak and went straight to the point. Since Qi Bei appeared here, the result was not difficult to guess.
“I’m a little thirsty. Since we’re talking about cooperation, shouldn’t we have some tea or something?” Qi Bei chuckled.
“My apologies,” Murong Xingchen turned her wheelchair and a star-like light flashed through her eyes.
Suddenly, the bamboo cabinet not far away opened on its own, and the lid of the delicate tea jar floated up gently. Piece by piece, tea leaves flew out and fell into the teacup beside it.
Soon, a pot of water began to boil and steam rose up from it.
Then, the hot water floated up on its own and poured into the teacup. The fragrant smell of tea immediately filled the room.
“Please,” Murong Xingchen said and the teacup floated steadily to Qi Bei, stopping in mid-air.
Qi Bei laughed, reached out to grab the teacup, and took a sip.
“Aren’t you afraid of poison?” Murong Xingchen asked lightly.
“I am, but if a beauty pours the tea, even if it’s poisoned, this young master will still drink it,” Qi Bei laughed.
“You’ve already been poisoned,” Murong Xingchen said, looking at Qi Bei with a decisive gaze.
“What poison? Blazing Fire Rising Dragon Pill, Spring Wind One Night Powder…” Qi Bei laughed and then suddenly his face flushed. He stared at Murong Xingchen with wide eyes and said, “Did you really poison me? Since you did, then this young master will have to use you to detoxify me.”
“Shameless!” Murong Xingchen suddenly raised her hand, and the air in the entire room froze as she reached for Qi Bei.
