Chapter 381: Chapter 381: The Encounter of the Asgardian Quartet

The group in question were none other than the Warriors Three and Sif from Asgard, who had been transported to Earth by Heimdall to find Thor and assist him in returning to Asgard.

At the time of their arrival, Asgard had not yet clashed with Robert and Clark. Heimdall had just sent the Asgardian quartet to Earth when Loki had also just arrived, attempting to lift Mjolnir.

However, soon after, Loki was blasted off the Rainbow Bridge and went missing, followed by the outbreak of conflict between Asgard, Robert, and Clark. Consequently, the Asgardian quartet was significantly behind on recent events.

Initially, Heimdall had placed the quartet not too far from Thor, considering the Hydra base was no simple location. If the quartet had been sent directly into the Hydra base, it could have led to unforeseen complications.

Thus, they had to locate Thor by themselves. Initially, Heimdall planned to provide some guidance, but the ensuing chaos, including his own uncertain fate, left the quartet without any clues.

The quartet then wandered the nearby areas looking for Thor, experiencing Earth's drastic climate change without finding him, leading to their confusion and concern.

"Is Midgard always this erratic?" Volstagg furrowed his brow as he surveyed the environment. "Isn't Midgard supposed to be the most suitable place for mortal beings? How can ordinary beings live in such extreme conditions?"

"I don't know, I've never been here before either. Who knew Midgard was like this?" Fandral spread his hands helplessly. "But truly, this climate is not fit for humans. I thought we were back in Jotunheim..."

"Speaking of which, if Thor, stripped of his powers, is here, can he really adapt to this environment?" Sif expressed her concerns softly, worried.

Her worry was not unfounded; without his godly powers, Thor might not fare any better than a normal human in these harsh conditions.

"We must find Thor quickly. Who knows what other troubles this forsaken Midgard might cause?" Hogan nodded solemnly. "But why hasn't Heimdall responded at all? We've been here for some time now. Could something have happened?"

"Indeed, even if he ignored us, it makes no sense for Heimdall to ignore Sif. Could it really be that something has happened?" Volstagg's eyes also reflected concern.

This situation was unprecedented; usually, in any of the Nine Realms, merely calling Heimdall's name would get his attention. If not opening the Bifrost, he could at least communicate, especially since the plan was precisely that.

But now, with no word from Heimdall and no idea where Thor might be, their arrival on Earth and the drastic environmental changes only added to their anxiety.

"Could it be that Loki discovered Heimdall's actions?" With their information outdated, Fandral and the others began to speculate. "After all, Loki is now the acting king. If he intervened, Heimdall probably wouldn't have had a chance to contact us..."

"What is Loki really up to?! We all grew up together as comrades-in-arms. Does he really have to be so ruthless?" Anger flashed in Hogan's eyes as he spoke sternly.

"It's clear, he's not satisfied with just being the acting king; he wants to be the real king!" Volstagg scoffed disdainfully.

"Hmph! He wishes! Only Thor, who is recognized by Mjolnir, is the true heir to Asgard. Loki is merely a prince and cannot inherit the throne of Asgard!" Fandral continued along Volstagg's line of thought.

"Loki is no match for Heimdall..." Sif finally spoke up after maintaining her silence.

"Remember, the Spear of Eternity is in Loki's hands, and sometimes, even Heimdall can't see through his invisibility..." Hogan shook his head, his voice low. "If Loki really ambushed him, it might not be so simple!"

"The All-Father is ill, not dead, and with the Queen in Asgard, how could they possibly let Loki run amok?" Sif shook her head, then added, "What we need to do now is find Thor. We can't contact Heimdall yet, but preventing Loki from stopping Thor's return to Asgard and helping Thor regain his powers is what we need to focus on!"

"We know, but we simply can't find Thor's location. Heimdall said we were near Thor, but since arriving, we've seen nothing, not even a shadow..." Volstagg sighed in frustration, looking around at the deserted environment.

Since arriving on Earth, the quartet had made efforts, but the nearby area showed no signs of human activity.

Unfortunately, Heimdall had indeed sent them near the Hydra base,

but without special abilities like Heimdall's or technological surveillance, spotting a Hydra base with the naked eye was not so simple. Otherwise, Hydra's bases wouldn't be called secret bases.

Clearly, the quartet, four warrior-like deities without any scouting methods, searched everywhere to no avail, finding themselves at an impasse.

So, what was Thor doing at this time?

After Loki left and Odin appeared to confront Robert, Thor seemed to sense Odin's presence but did not immediately break free from Hydra's brainwashing; instead, he became even more convinced of his manipulated memories.

Meanwhile, Thor's powers seemed to awaken subtly, perhaps due to emotional turmoil or the unique aspects of the Super Soldier Serum, which formed the basis of many special serums.

Yet, Thor could not directly unleash the power of thunder; it continued to strengthen his physical attributes, enough to further enhance his capabilities.

Originally unmatched among the Super Soldiers, Thor was now capable of defeating most of the enhanced warriors, his combat ability nearing that of Tohru, and this was just the beginning...

Later, McCarthy began sending Thor on Hydra missions. Hydra naturally had enemies, and anyone who hindered Hydra's growth was an enemy. Even if McCarthy was not of Tohru's lineage but another Hydra infiltrator, he wouldn't hesitate to eliminate obstacles to Tohru's faction, as appearances still needed to be maintained...

During this period, Thor indeed killed many, but he experienced no change in mentality, not feeling anything wrong with killing, particularly since Thor himself had killed before.

A lifespan of thousands of years hadn't given Thor perfect combat skills, but he certainly hadn't killed few, just that his previous victims weren't Earthlings or even humanoid.

Thor found little interest in his targets because they were too weak, none truly capable of challenging him in battle.

McCarthy, too, was helpless; the world had many superhumans, but those targeted by Tohru's faction or even McCarthy himself were few. It wasn't feasible for McCarthy to have Thor confront enemies from Alexander Pierce's faction...

Soon, Thor's concerns vanished as most of Hydra's operations came to a halt.

Not for any other reason, but due to the climate changes brought about by the Frost Giant's arrival.

After all, not everyone in Hydra was a super soldier; many were ordinary humans, confused by the climate change. They rapidly contacted other Hydra branches seeking more information, but even such a colossal entity as Hydra was clueless about the situation.

Hydra, aiming to rule the world, did not want to govern a planet unsuitable for human life; without subjects, what pleasure would there be in ruling?

Interestingly, compared to agencies like SHIELD, Hydra was more eager to solve this problem, a curious situation indeed...

Of course, it wasn't that organizations like SHIELD did nothing during this supernatural disaster; they also attempted research, even employing extraordinary items, but to no avail...

And just as everyone remained puzzled, conditions slowly returned to normal, the climate stabilized, and humanity resumed normal activities, except for those who had died or fallen ill. At this moment, someone in Tohru's Hydra base detected the Asgardian quartet.

Initially, Hydra paid little attention to the quartet, even if they wore medieval attire, perhaps assuming they were shooting a personal video in the wilderness.

Hydra wasn't benevolent, but they didn't kill on sight, especially near their own base. A disappearance could trigger an investigation, which could be troublesome...

So, since the quartet hadn't discovered the Hydra base, Hydra's agents didn't bother much with them.

However, Hydra didn't anticipate the quartet quickly displaying extraordinary abilities. Not that they used any divine powers, but their speed surpassed ordinary humans, easily outpacing vehicles, which immediately drew Hydra's attention.

It was one thing if they were ordinary; Hydra wouldn't care. But as superhumans, Hydra wouldn't be courteous, especially since the quartet seemed to be searching for something nearby, and Hydra, naturally suspicious and having numerous enemies, assumed they were potential trouble...

After observing for a while, Hydra quickly dispatched a vanguard to confront the Asgardian quartet; initially, Thor did not participate.

"Hmm? There's movement!" Sif was the first to sense the approach of Hydra soldiers, her ample combat experience alerting her to the danger. Even without pleasant prospects, the absence of activity left them without leads; now, with this disturbance, they might locate Thor.

"Soldiers?" Soon, a group of Hydra soldiers appeared before the quartet, armed with various weapons. Some carried live ammunition, while others had tranquilizer darts.

After all, capturing four superhumans for research would be beneficial.

"It seems they're coming for us. They've discovered us, and we didn't see them? Technology? Firearms? Ha..." Fandral was dismissive, confidently brandishing his sword.

"Don't kill them all; leave some alive. They might know where Thor is. Heimdall wouldn

't send us here without reason..." Sif advised, her eyes gleaming.

Bang! Bang! Bang!

As Sif finished speaking, the Hydra soldiers decisively opened fire...
