Chapter 17: The Expulsion Controversy (Edited)
The Kent couple, although they did not verbally agree with Robert's words, did not refute them either, because they indeed thought the same.
"Sigh..." At this moment, Clark sighed and said softly to Robert, "It's not just Okinaga and the other two who are being asked to withdraw from school, you are being asked to withdraw as well."
"Why?"
"On what grounds?!"
"Huh?"
The Kents almost exclaimed in unison, but Robert was only a bit surprised, showing no anger, even his surprise had a hint of schadenfreude. "Figures!" Seeing the change in Robert's expression, Clark's mouth twitched slightly. He knew he hadn't guessed wrong; Robert really didn't want to go to school, after all, going to school made both his training and eating somewhat troublesome.
"Why should Robert be expelled? Robert is clearly a victim! Have they stopped being reasonable?" Martha asked incredulously.
"When the number of people reaches a certain level, whether they are reasonable or not doesn't matter anymore. Their numbers are the biggest reason, after all, no one wants to see them making a fuss..." Clark shook his head and said softly.
"According to them, Robert witnessing the shooting at close range might lead to post-traumatic stress disorder, and if he gets triggered again, it could pose a potential threat to their children."
"Of course, this is just their excuse. In reality, they think Robert is a jinx. They worry that Robert will bring bad luck to their children, so they seize this opportunity to push both Robert and Okinaga out..."
"Nonsense!" Jonathan muttered under his breath, then prepared to turn the car towards the school to have a serious talk with the principal.
"Ring ring!" But just then, Jonathan's phone rang. He stopped the car with a displeased expression and picked up the phone. It was indeed from the school.
"Hello?" Jonathan took a deep breath and answered the call, and the content that followed was exactly as Clark had described. The principal reluctantly proposed that Robert be withdrawn from school.
"Why, from beginning to end, Robert was the victim, why should he be expelled?" After hearing the principal's proposal, Jonathan first questioned sternly, then paused as if he heard something, and became even angrier, "Compensate some money? I owe you... mmm mmm!"
Jonathan hadn't finished speaking when Robert covered his mouth and then gave Clark a look.
"Hello? Is this the principal? I'm Robert's brother, Clark. Regarding the withdrawal, we are now preparing to come to the school. Let's talk face-to-face when we arrive!" Clark gave Robert an annoyed look and then took the phone, saying softly, "Yes, we're on our way now, should be there in about twenty minutes."
"Robert, we might not be rich, but we're not so desperate for money that we'd agree to you being expelled from school!" After Clark hung up the phone, Martha looked at Robert with a serious expression and said.
"Cough, actually, I don't really want to go to school..." Robert scratched his head, looking a bit shy as he smiled at the Kent family, "I actually want to go on adventures and train, see the world. Adventures and training are much more interesting than going to school!"
Robert: (〃 ̄ω ̄〃)ゞ "Adventures and training?" Jonathan and Martha didn't quite understand the meaning of adventures and training, but they took it as Robert wanting to see the world.
"Kid, we're not against you wanting to see the world, but you're still young and not tall enough, traveling is too dangerous..." Martha's expression softened, and she gently advised Robert, "No matter what, you should still go to school. Decide whether you want to travel after you become an adult."
"Actually, I'm very strong. Didn't I just say, handguns are just a small scene, bullets don't do anything to me..." Robert spread his hands, looking somewhat helpless and casting a pleading look at Clark, who pretended not to see, showing no intention of saving the situation.
"Even if you're strong, are you stronger than your brother? Didn't he also go to school obediently?" Jonathan glared at Robert and said displeasedly, "Tell me, are you stronger than Clark?"
"I..." Robert's mouth twitched slightly. He was twelve years younger than Clark; comparing them like this was totally unfair!
"Maybe, mom and dad, can I talk to Robert alone for a bit?" Seeing the fire burning towards himself, Clark shook his head helplessly and said softly.
"Okay, it's up to you! Talk some sense into him!" Jonathan nodded, giving Clark a meaningful look, continuing education was the bottom line!
Soon, Robert and Clark walked to a secluded corner, then Clark stared at Robert annoyed and said, "Is this what you call dealing with ordinary people?"
"Isn't this good? I didn't expose myself at all. Even if I got expelled, it was just an undeserved disaster..." Robert spread his hands, indicating his innocence.
"A minor-involved school shooting happened, and you've caused a storm in the city, and you think that's good?" Clark rolled his eyes and retorted.
"What else could I do? They brought guns, I couldn't just catch bullets with my bare hands, right? That wouldn't cause a storm, but it would definitely attract attention..." Robert shrugged, still insisting he hadn't done anything wrong.
"Can't you hypnotize? If you can weave memories, why didn't you just weave theirs so they wouldn't intersect with you in the future?" Clark frowned and questioned Robert.
"Because I can't!" Robert sighed helplessly and explained, "I'm a warrior, not a magician. Hypnosis has its limits. The stories I weave are consistent with their personalities and behavioral logic..."
"It wasn't me who controlled them to shoot each other, but under the premise that I chose to hand over the prize money, they really would start fighting over an uneven division of the loot..."
"As for forcefully hypnotizing them not to intersect with me, that's hardly possible because it doesn't match their own behavior logic. After all, they came for me with a deep obsession!"
"I can divert their attention temporarily, but I can't permanently affect them. Every time they see me, or someone mentions me, it will wake them up, even seeing others eat well might remind them of me and break the hypnosis. Wouldn't that be even more troublesome?"
